He might not have realised, but it's a weak excuse nonetheless. Possibly. Surely my point still stands though? Rules are rules and should be adhered to regardless of the situation? Maybe its just my biased opinion...

But I still maintain that things could have been done tactically and defensively to win us the game, regardless of a dodgy penalty. We helped cause our own downfall today.

Protests form the forest players are nothing short of childish and petty.I cant beleive the events leading up to the red car being prodiced. Even a division 6 sunday league ref would not have done that. Total horse shit.

gazfox9 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Well as I understand the rules of the game, the penalty must have been awarded for a) deliberate handball, or, b) gaining an advantage from controlling the ball with your hand/arm ( which obviously wasn't the case as it was rolling straight Kaspers path). The ref has had a total mare, as I see it, undefendable. He's paid to do a job, and has failed miserably today.

And I'm watching the FLS and seeing plenty players bang the ball away after a goal without punishment. The ref should be held to account by his employers, and I don't mean NFFC, the cheating twat.

As for Schmeichel, he does not have to hand the ball to the Forest player to take to the center spot he has to get it to the halfway line, or someone else does. He threw it towards the halfway line and if anything sped up the kick off rather than slowing it down. The Forest players weren't even out of our box by the time the ball was halfway. Ref should be shot for this, awful decisions both of them. He should never referee again, total disgrace to the game.

Their player was lying on the ground and the ball was rolling harmlessly to Schmeichel. If anything, he's actually helping Forest with that touch and then he gets booked?

Summed it up nicely The penalty was very harsh, but you can see why the ref has given it. Mills puts his arm down to steady himself, and unfortunately puts it straight into the path of the ball. Probably looked deliberate to the gormless ref. Not sure what Weale could have done about the cross for their second goal other than stay on his line. If I was Sven what I'd be more concerned about is the two defenders on the back post (Konchesky & Abe) who looked like they were on a Sunday stroll. They didn't attack the ball, the Forest player did, and scored.
