AmyLGK Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 SSN Quote: Reading manager Brian McDermott has slammed Leicester for their pursuit of Jimmy Kebe, despite the winger opting to stay at the Madejski Stadium. Reports started to emerge on transfer deadline day that the Foxes were primed to make a bid for the Mali international, but McDermott accused their Championship rivals of deliberately trying to unsettle the player. He told the Reading Chronicle: "I might put something on Sky Sports saying we're trying to buy three or four of Leicester's players. "Other clubs do, it's very easy to do that sort of thing. If that's what you are into then fine, but we choose to do things differently at Reading. "Whatever Leicester do is up to them. To be honest, I'm not really bothered how Leicester conduct their business. But if we wanted to do that sort of thing there is nothing stopping us either. "I think they were linked with about 10 players on Wednesday alone. It was ridiculous." Now - I'm ill so forgive my cold induced stupidity, but I don't get what we supposedly did wrong here!?!?!
boring_jester Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 He sounds like an idiot to me. Putting in false claims to cause unrest in the squad. I'm sure football players are profesnal enough to get on with it
Mack Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 What a ****. This was only a rumour and no Official Leicester source publicly spoke about this deal. He can join Claridge and all the rest in the bitter and jealous club.
breadandcheese Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 I think he's suggesting that we put rumours out through the media to deliberately unsettle one of his players, presumably, in the hope that Kebe would then force a move. I have sympathy with that.

I have sympathy with that. OOOOHHH So he's saying that Leicester linked themselves with loads of players just to see if any of them were interested in coming, then they could make a move!?!?! Why wouldn't we just ask the players themselves if they wanted a move??? Or is that not allowed??

I have sympathy with that. That is standard practice. And as a former scout the four eyed baldy dwarf should no the game all too well.

Why wouldn't we just ask the players themselves if the wanted a move??? Or is that not allowed?? It would be an illegal approach. Until a club grants permission for a club to talk to a player, you're not allowed. Of course, it goes on all the time with agents speaking to players and clubs on the quiet.

No one including McDermott is suggesting Leicester ever spoke to the player or his agent or anyone else connected. Using a third party to express your interest in the media is far from a crime.
breadandcheese Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 That is standard practice. And as a former scout the four eyed baldy dwarf should no the game all too well. I agree, it is standard practice, but it doesn't mean I don't have sympathy for clubs who are on the receiving end of hostile and harsh transfer tactics. Admittedly, he's making an unfounded allegation against us and that's out of order as we don't know how our link to Kebe started.
cc_star Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 A club who is improving gets linked with a quality player in the sheitstorm of deadline day *SHOCK*
Libertine Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 He's only jealous. They mugged us off for Mills and he'll barely see any of it.
Babylon Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 I think he's suggesting that we put rumours out through the media to deliberately unsettle one of his players, presumably, in the hope that Kebe would then force a move. I have sympathy with that. How can you force a move if the club in question hasn't even made a bid? He said himself we didn't even contact them.
VinceNoir Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Who cares what other people think? McDermott's views mean as little to me as opposing fans who only come on here to spew mouth diarrhea all over the board.
Adster Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Yeah, we tried to unsettle him when he we didn't even bid. Good one McDermott
dpjfox Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Feck off Mcdermott.. IMO Reading are challengers to Blackpool for the tightest team in the league (bloody jealous scrooges)
One Arm Babba Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Slaphead!!! Who cares if we were linked to 10 players. We Are Leicester, we dont care!!!
Head Honcho Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 That is standard practice. And as a former scout the four eyed baldy dwarf should no the game all too well. Very poetic!
Fox92 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Used to like McDermott, but whats the point in coming out with this statement? Gone off him.
thybluefox Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Jealous and immature. The only thing he's succeeded in doing is embarrassing himself.

Linked being the operative word here. Half of those we were "linked" with, we probably never were interested in and it was all speculation from tabloids etc. Sod off McDermott you pond life.
MrSpaM Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Sense a bit of bitterness here, His promotion chasing team of last season is falling apart at the seams it seems.
iancognito Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 And if he was manager here or ever found himself on deadline day with £10M or so burning a hole in his pocket, would he do any different? Of course not. We were linked with players, other clubs were linked with our players. It's the way football works, he should get used to it and stop being such a giant fanny about the whole thing.
themotivator Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 "stop linking my players you fakkin scumbags." chill out bri. take it as a complement bro. christ. pretty sure the kebe thing was only reported in the mercury then it filtered out round twitter (through football fans not the club) right? i dont see anything wrong with us having a list of players we want to sign.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 "To be honest, I'm not really bothered how Leicester conduct their transfer business." Really? Why start crying to the media if you're 'not bothered' then you fat twat?
