FuriousFox46 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Obviously, I'm very happy with the result although given the circumstances it was never in doubt. But, I'm very disappointed in the L1 fans today and their prejudice treatment of Brighton. I think we were all expecting it but it's not right for us to complain about 'Town full of Pakis' and then belt out 'Town full of faggots' to the Brighton fans. Really disappointed.
Rocket-Ron Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 When there right back was down injured, Someone behind me shouted "get up you puff" !!
Larry_LCFC Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I wouldnt join in with it but why shouldnt we give as good as we get?
Nick Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I wouldnt join in with it but why shouldnt we give as good as we get? If you need to ask the question................. Fox92 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Agreed. +1 And have another +1 off of me. Good statement really, fans moan about one thing, ie Forest fans, and then do this - it doesn't add up and if you can't take it, don't give it.
5waller5 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Yes, let's sanitise football it and make it more politically correct .... in fact lets remove all humour from every aspect of life ... or we could lighten up and shrug off a bit of stereotyping as harmless banter?

So 'town full of Paki's is harmless banter?' As is 'townful of faggots' Are you by any chance not an Asian homosexual?
acooling08 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I found the 'does your boyfriend know you're here?' to be hilarious. And I'm not a hypocrite because I never complained about 'town full of pakis'

I think we were all expecting it but it's not right for us to complain about 'Town full of Pakis' and then belt out 'Town full of faggots' to the Brighton fans. Really disappointed. Wasn't only L1. There were a handful of bigots spouting abuse in the Kop too, especially at Ankergren. There isn't any place for it at the KP. Gay City players, should there be any, deserve the same kind of respect and support from us as straight ones.

So I guess you think that the racist abuse we get is just banter? Have a word with yourself.

Banter is fine. That particular piece of banter relies on 'you're a town full of (insert term here)' being seen as an insult. To use homosexuality or race as an insult is not banter.
acooling08 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 So 'town full of Paki's is harmless banter?' As is 'townful of faggots' Are you by any chance not an Asian homosexual? I don't get why people seem to think that 'asian homosexuals' are going to go home crying and never turn up again because of us hateful white straight people. I doubt few actually care at all. I have worn glasses for about 8 years but I didn't start crying when kids called me four-eyes at school.

To use homosexuality or race as an insult is not banter. Exactly .... it relies on it being seen as an insult .... it's hardly the most cutting of insults is it??? Only by being bothered by it do you give it more mileage. Should we stop chanting to Liverpool based teams that they should "sign on with hope in your hearts" because they have a higher than average unemployment rate? I'm Irish and have absolutely no problem with people telling jokes with us as the "thick Paddy" punchline .... it's just funny.....
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Oh dear. Too many wanna be do gooders on here I feel. What's next? Being embarassed for calling that lad with ginger hair 'rusty'? Let's get real. It's banter, banter that they took in good heart
Guest Bilo Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 We don't need to hear homophobia at grounds any more than we need to hear racism. Why do you think no gay players have come out since the late Justin Fashanu? It's precisely because of the outdated attitudes that lead to chants like 'town full of faggots' at the Brighton fans.
wattolcfc Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 The first thing I said walking out of the KP is that I knew it wouldn't be long before this thread appeared..

When have people with glasses been mistreated by the masses in society?
bluesbrothers Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Knowing as i do one or two gay people, i'd probably tell you it's water off a ducks back. We get the whole Asian ribbing from some visitors, but thats just stating the bleeding obvious - that there's a large asian community here. I don't think the asian residents here give a damn to be fair, and neither do Brighton fans with respect to the "faggot" chants that they get everywhere because - fact is - there's a large gay community there. There are always a few who take it too far, but really? Most people just take it in their stride. On the other hand, if those people were trying to confront Albion fans outside the ground on the basis of there being a few homosexuals in their town, that'd be worrying. To be honest, if I was a Albion fan i'd be more insulted to be called a town full of Mods. Quadrophenia - what a waste of film reel!
smudger63 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 It`s a good job some of you guys were not going down the city in the 70`s and 80`s.

Because they choose to keep their sexuality private??
Guest Mee-9 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 It was a right laugh. What a load of queers.
BoneDog Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Could have been worse. If someone had started singing "Crap on your bell-end.....You've all got crap on your bell-end.....crap on your bellllllllllllll-end....", alot of people would have been put off their half-time hot-dogs. I personally don't believe there are any gay footballers. I'm sure I read somewhere that gays choose to be dancers, fashion designers and interior decorators.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Because they choose to keep their sexuality private?? Choose? I don't think they've a lot of choice somehow. I don't see straight footballers feeling they have to keep the latest Page 3 bird they're rodding behind closed doors. Could have been worse. If someone had started singing "Crap on your bell-end.....You've all got crap on your bell-end.....crap on your bellllllllllllll-end....", alot of people would have been put off their half-time hot-dogs. I shouldn't, but .
