FuriousFox46 Posted 17 September 2011 Author Posted 17 September 2011 There's a difference between banter and prejudice. You don't understand or appreciate that because you are part of the 'norm' or fail to sympathise with minorities. and don't like this thread, leave it. Works both ways.
I am Rod Hull Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 People now days... Moaning about chants ? I truly despair at the "new order" of things... Man up...
@cheyette Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Football thrives on banter. Anyone who goes to the football and takes offence at this is in the wrong place, simple as that. So by that argument a gay person has to put up with being called a faggot and if he doesnt like it he should walk away from football. good old banter.
Finnegan Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I find it tragic that "town full of faggots" is considered the height of witty banter in the first place. Jesus fucking Christ.
Jace Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 And comparing a group of hundreds of fans shouting faggots is not the same witty satirical border line offensive humour by jimmy carr. Chants like this shouldn't be acceptable in football these days. maybe you should be less sensitive?
JadeFalcon Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 i really dont think its a case of "what is said" but "how it is said", that is when it becomes racist/sexist/whateverist
fleckneymike Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I find it tragic that "town full of faggots" is considered the height of witty banter in the first place. Jesus ****ing Christ. Sums up 'banter' perfectly. People who call it banter are some of the least funny people you'll ever meet. They also tend to be of school age.
Father Ted Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I find it tragic that "town full of faggots" is considered the height of witty banter in the first place. Jesus fucking Christ. Why do you have to say 'Jesus ****ing Christ'? As a religious guy I find this blaspheming term highly offensive.
ajthefox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I wouldn't join in with it but I doubt anyone was as offended as those on here getting their pants in a big twist
rico Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 And comparing a group of hundreds of fans shouting faggots is not the same witty satirical border line offensive humour by jimmy carr. Chants like this shouldn't be acceptable in football these days. bore off
I am Rod Hull Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Half of you lot would`nt have lasted 5 minutes down the pit...
broughtonblue Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 bloody hell people need to lighten up a bit, just banter and funny with it, the only way to get at other fans is to wind them up a bit.
@cheyette Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 maybe you should be less sensitive? I'm not offended. I'm just arguing how chanting that is extremely offensive to group of people being insulted.
Jcklcfc Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Seriously! This thread is pathetic! Brighton is the gay capital of the UK, all the chants were banter! Inevitable there was going to be this kind of fan chants. Get a life!
Dan Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 So by that argument a gay person has to put up with being called a faggot and if he doesnt like it he should walk away from football. good old banter. Why were they ever going to football if they support a side known for it's gays if they can't take banter about it. It's as simple as that. You go to football, you take the shit that goes with it.
Bugg Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Leicester fans in finding something to complain about something shocker.
I am Rod Hull Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I'm not offended. I'm just arguing how chanting that is extremely offensive to group of people being insulted. Were they offended ? I remember singing it to them over 20 years ago and they just laughed and waved back..... I think they might be used to it by now and its not like they`re all queers.....
Ozwin Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I pissed myself at the 'Does your boyfriend know you're here' Obviously I don't believe everyone in Brighton is that way inclined and nor do I have anything against gay people but it's a stereotype and it's just a bit of fun. Using racist/homophobic slurs is a bit different. That's just uncool.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 I would actually have much less of a problem if it were witty. Jimmy Carr can joke about race, rape and child abuse and get away with because he does it in a witty way. Some other comedians get a bad rap because they try to do the same with much less wit. A joke or chant about anything can be funny if it has some wit behind it.
@cheyette Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Were they offended ? I remember singing it to them over 20 years ago and they just laughed and waved back..... I think they might be used to it by now and its not like they`re all queers..... Course calling a brighton fan a faggot isn't gonna offend them- just as calling a leicester fan a paki isnt gonna offend you... unless your asian.
1964FOX Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 The people who sing these chants are generally all of low intelligence, dress the same, act the same and have no tolerance of anyone who does not conform to their standards. Obviously they won't mind me having a go at them as a group of low intelligence morons with no opinion other than their group as it's only banter.
Jace Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Leicester fans in finding something to complain about something shocker. typical isnt it the only people offended by this chant are leicester fans!!

Wernt you stood next to the bloke starting 50% of these chants?
