Larry_LCFC Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 so if your kid was molested or wife/girlfriend was raped, you'd be quiet happy if someone said it was just a bit of over - affection by someone who should know better?? Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that banter is an important and fun part of football, but HATRED isn't acceptable.. I used to pride myself on thinking that City fans had evolved with the times and become accepting of people...I can truthfully say i am shocked that there are some amongst us who see racism and homophobia as trivial matters. I find your post very baffling. What has "kids being molested " and "wife/girlfriends" being raped got to do with a football chant that is being blown way out of context? Singing a "town full of faggots" isnt because of hatred (though distasteful it is), its because sets of fans like to think of any way to wind up the opposition. I bet 95% of the people singing in reality have nothing against homosexuals. People need to move the hell on. It is so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Seriously.
Number 6 Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 People should probably be more offended that our fans resorted to such a boring and predictable chant in an attempt to wind them up, rather than anything more original. Bet they hear it evey week.
liamsm Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Obviously, I'm very happy with the result although given the circumstances it was never in doubt. But, I'm very disappointed in the L1 fans today and their prejudice treatment of Brighton. I think we were all expecting it but it's not right for us to complain about 'Town full of Pakis' and then belt out 'Town full of faggots' to the Brighton fans. Really disappointed. are you a brighton fan in disguise, sad or just a rent boy

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 They say "Ignorance is bliss" Ill bred loud mouthed yobs, can't see beyond the end of their noses..
Guest Bilo Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 I'm going to continue the banter at work tomorrow, wish me luck lads.

I'm sorry but who the hell would consider rape or fingering a pre-pubescent a bit of a lark?! Bizarre logic. I'm not offended by the homophobic chants, but I can see how we might have lost the moral high ground if they'd responded with Bristol City/Millwall/Forest style chants about the ethnic mix of Leicester. I'm actually more offended by the lack of wit to be fair, we could come up with better shit than 'town full of faggots' if we put our minds to it surely?
BHAFC Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Brighton fan in peace. The people who are getting upset over a few homophobic chants, honestly, no Brighton fan went home in floods of tears. I go to 20+ away games a season, and every single set of fans sings songs about us being "faggots, queers" etc etc. We're used to it. Norwich get called farmers every week, and sure a few of their fans probably do work on farms, but I'd bet that some of them work in an office, or in a school or whatever. Liverpool get called unemployed every week. Some of them have jobs, obviously. We sung about paying your benefits, not all of you are on benefits Cardiff get called sheep shaggers every week... ok, every rule has an exception. It's banter ffs Every set of fans sings "Does your boyfriend know you're here?", and every set of fans seem to think it's original. It isn't, but meh, it's football and banter between both sets of fans is expected. It's part of the reason people go. If you sit on the away/home fan border, expect there to be piss taking! If you don't like it then go sit in the family stand and right at the front, in the middle of the away end. Town full of faggots is a new one, but my main problem is, it wasn't clever or funny. Brizzle City sung "You only sing when your rimming". That and the "Crap on your bell-end" are funny, and both of them made me laugh. Town full of faggots is just a shit song. Nobody's going to cry over it though, and if they did, they can **** off and watch Cricket. (If you're wondering, I'm a train, not a tunnel)
Koke Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 i honestly don't know how some people on here get through life ! Nobody is upset about this. As Finners said, we're not shedding tears over it whilst drinking our bottle of Jack Daniels. It's just the sheer hypocrisy that one moment we are against one prejudiced chant aimed at us, whilst at the same we see no problem with singing something prejudiced at others. This "banter" word being thrown about is doing my nut in by the way.

Unit Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 What really makes me sick is the use of the word 'faggot'. Such a ****ing Americanism. HAVE SOME NATIONAL PRIDE IN YOUR PREJUDICE! ( )

What the fvck are you on. How can calling anyone anything (Faggot Gay Pakki Nigger) be like rape. You really need to take a look at yourself. And i don't think you would ever get Asian or a homosexual or anyone that has ever been called names to claim the treatment they received was anywhere near rape.
Zingari Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 are you sure nobody's upset? some posts on here give me a different impression ! gays are easily upset , they're always flouncing off and blubbing about summat ps please , i am only joking

You fvcking weirdo. However, banter is part of football and shouldn't be took out of proportion. However I did think the Brain Clough chant at Forest was a tad harsh.

Haha, you tit. What next eh. "So if someone was smoking, just imagine a massive fire". Stop talking shit, people go to football expecting these chants. Yes, also to watch football, but anyone who's been or even hasn't knows the reputation football has for its songs.
Heskey2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Tottenham fans have appropriated the word 'Yid' but the Jewish contingent still find it offensive. I'm guessing most of the people who decide what others should and shouldn't find offensive are straight, white, anglo-saxon males, who've at worst ever been called 'fat' before. Fair doos, if Gary says it's wrong i'm on board. Thought Lampard undermined the whole thing tbh, can't take him seriously. Did you hear them calling Adebayor Yiddo after his goals again on sunday? surley if Yiddo is as offensive as other racism terms (and i'm not saying it is)the bizzies need to get down to WHL asap.
Houdini Logic Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 What's most annoying is that our fans can actually be quite witty at times, so to resort to a pathetic, obvious low blow like that is a little sad. That said, at least you could understand what our fans were singing...

That said, at least you could understand what our fans were singing... My point exactly, it's not an issue with banter. I have no problem with the 'Does your boyfriend know you're here.' but 'faggot' is a derogatory term. There'd be uproar if the n word was used. Why is this any different?
BHAFC Braders Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Ah , to be honest we hear it every week - like I said in another thread , it's not right (both factually and that it's being sung ) but like many things that happen at football it still goes on. Personally I'm not bothered and at seen in the other thread we give as good as we get (and even mostly take the mick of it ourselves) , water off a ducks back stuff really.

Houdini Logic Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Jizz off a bummers back you mean. Now I'm all for topical humour, but it at least has to be funny. You didn't even get the word 'shaft' in there ffs, that's a great word...
