somebum Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 It has to be the genius that is Leo Messi for me. I once swore that Diego was the greatest but this guy Messi is incredible, doing things that no other footballer has ever done. I watch Barcelona regularly and have seen some great players but there is no doubt that Messi surpasses the lot of them; he is the complete player in my view.
Thracian Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Of those I saw play these were my favourite players though not necessarily the best:- . For Leicester:- Davie Gibson, no question. Worldwide:- George Best. Honourable mentions:- Leicester....Derek Dougan. Derek Hogg, Lennie Glover, Frank Worthington. Worldwide: Johan Cruyff, Dennis Bergkamp. Matt Le Tissier, Denis Law, Eric Cantona.

I'll never judge how good a player is while he is still playing but yes if he continues to do what he does noe I'll have to have Messi above Maradona, Cryuff and Zico in my list when he retires.
Haydos Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Ronaldinho Behind him......Henry/Both Ronaldos/Zidane/Maldini/Xavi/Messi
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Don't really tend to particularly like non-LCFC players but I do quite like Pique for some reason For LCFC it was always Savage and Izzet
VinceNoir Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 My current favourite player is David Silva. He was great at Valencia and Man City would be nothing without him. Love the way he plays football.

I would have said the same thing to be honest; I never thought when watching Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Kaka, Ronaldo et all 'this is the greatest player ever' as my mind was always set on Maradona being the greatest with George Best also coming close in the top 5, but Messi is the one player who has changed my mind, the way he cuts through the best defenses time and time again, dictates play, reads the game, how time stands still when he has the ball, he floats through the field like a ghost, shoots at range, close range, deft passing, I could go on and on, other players have certain qualities but Messi has everything and he has NO need need for strength because nobody can get close to him. The guy is just unreal, I must have seen him in 50 plus full games and he has dictated every single game. I rarely rate him below 9, mostly 10, and whilst other players were clearly out of this world Messi is consistently out of this world and that's why I think he is the greatest player the world has ever seen.
Austin Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Definitely add Ronaldo to that list. Amazing,

accessory Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 Basically, most people's most hated list. No Giggs? By some distance, the best Welsh player of the last 20 years..
Guest MattP Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 No Giggs? By some distance, the best Welsh player of the last 20 years.. Shame he could hardly ever be arsed to play for them.
