purpleronnie Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Top of the East Midlands Counties League I think ... Relegated last year so are playing at a pretty low level (step 6) and tbh the standard of that league isn't great. They do however get good crowds for that level. As for JJ, I remember him playing a game on my local park when he was at thurmaston, couldn't help but think it was quite sad for him to be playing at such a low level. Coalville is more suited, I guess at 37 its rare to see a footballer who relied on his pace still play in a higher league.. I did hear that he was a bit of a gambler I hope thats not the reason he's still not retired, he must of earnt quite a bit of dollar in his career. Nice to see adam signing names like him, although I know he failed to impress at boston so I wonder if he's still got 'it'.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 My God, the bloke was unbelievable in his pomp. JULIAN, JULIAN, JULIAN!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 I used to proudly wear a "Crown Jules" t-shirt everywhere.

stripeyfox Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Who can forget the goal against Portsmouth in the Play Offs (in the bizarre "home" game in Nottingham)?
blue army 1988 Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Does he still live "next door to Iwan, in his council flat?" Quality partnership with Iwan Roberts!!!! Iwan never lived in a council flat. He lived across the road from me, guppy down the street, with Joachim & Elliottround the corner.
liamsm Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Lived in quite a nice house in Markfield around the corner from my mum and dads i'll have you know along with pretty much the whole city squad at that time, dunno why Markfield was such a city magnet but they all seemed to live there during the O'Neill years Now lives in Hamilton, the one in Leicester not the one in Scotland
Raj Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 One of the best goals i ever saw was JJ against Pompey in the 1st home leg at Forest. If anyone has a video of it,it was awesome!
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Who can forget the goal against Portsmouth in the Play Offs (in the bizarre "home" game in Nottingham)? JOOOOLIAN! "He's given them 5 yards and gone past them."
Raj Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 JOOOOLIAN! "He's given them 5 yards and gone past them." WICKED!!! Cheers for that memory!!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 JOOOOLIAN! "He's given them 5 yards and gone past them." awesome turn of pace
Salieri Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 I wondered how long it would be until the Pompey and Barnsley goals would be posted. Both subliminal in their own rights. Loved the guy and wish him all the best.
Yojoe36 Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 As soon I I saw the title of this thread...
m00nie Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Iwan never lived in a council flat. He lived across the road from me, guppy down the street, with Joachim & Elliottround the corner. whoooooosh....
somebum Posted 24 September 2011 Posted 24 September 2011 A Leicester legend. I remember being on holiday and picking up the paper to see the score from the night before. It read simply: Derby 0 - 1 Leicester (Joachim pen 3) beauty.
foxoffderby Posted 24 September 2011 Posted 24 September 2011 What a player dont quite know why he never made it to the very top, career what down hill after he went to Villa. I remember in one sunday paper being linked to Arsenal for £10m after one of the playoffs
Kilworthfox Posted 24 September 2011 Posted 24 September 2011 10 Men, what? Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Yeah, gotta be honest, I watched him play a few games for Thurmaston too, and, tbf he was woeful. Maybe was just there for a few £££ and a runout. But they also had Jon Stevenson playing, and he looked fantastic.
