Awful.

:(

'

Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second-round clash between Accrington and Tranmere was abandoned following a serious injury to Accrington defender Tom Bender.

The on-loan Colchester man was caught in a collision in the area between Stanley goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin and Tranmere's Lucas Akin in the 38th minute.

He was unconscious and was treated on the pitch for 30 minutes with oxygen and was on a drip before he left in an ambulance.'

only suspected broken neck at the moment. fingers crossed he makes a full recovery from the injury. even if he cant play football again at that level i just hope the poor chap can at least still walk.

At the risk of sounding thick.... With a broken neck, does it disfigure the body at all? Such as a broken ankle would?

I think it depends on whether it affects the spinal cord or not.

Terrible news if correct, lad just getting started with his dream job ,probably not on a large wage while coonts like Tevez on mega bucks cant be arsed to play with his billy big bollocks attitude.Should have a look at himself and put things in perspective.Really hope he makes a swift recovery and gets back in the game.

Sitting up and chatting in hospital, being kept in overnight for observations etc.

Hope he recovers fully and is able to play again.

This is obviously going to replayed and the Accrington boss has said he'll agree to let Tranmere score from kick off. Now...... can you remember how you felt 2nd time round at the City Ground when Paul Smith trotted down the pitch and bagged after the Clive Clarke episode? Yeah you were gutted you'd not known about the agreement and had a monkey on Paul Smith first g/scorer.

The smart money is on fon Williams (Tranmeres No. 1) to be allowed to knock one in from kick off so remember to get your cash lumped on as the return will be large.
