I am Rod Hull Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Billy Davies is a bottler on a big budget Dave Jones is a bottler on a big budget How are these any different to what Sven apparently is? Bottlers who can make the play-offs..... Bottlers who can get their team playing consistent football..... In Sven you trust.....
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Two points: a) The Thais would want someone who can help the club's image in Thailand. No matter how sensible a choice or proven people like Davies or Jones might be, your average South East Asian football fan probably hasn't heard of them. And this includes Top and co. who came into the club openly stating that they had a lot to learn (why Hoos was gradually phased out), so rule candidates such as them out. b) When people talk about Jones and Davies as 'bottlers', what exactly do you mean? As far as I can see it's the eleven players out on the pitch whose nerves would lead to losing games. Unless either of these guys drastically changed something in their teams because they suddenly had a shot at promotion I don't think you can level blame at the managers. I would argue it's more to do with the make-up of a squad's character and not the manager's courage. The managers mentality and behaviour transfers to the players though. Just look at us. A massive part of management is getting the players to completely believe in your ideas, to trust you and to give everything for you and the cause. If the players have even a slight bit of doubt in their mind about the manager, it can have a real negative effect. You watch, give us a motivational inspiring manager and the 11 on the field will play a lot differently.
Bugg Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Bottlers who can make the play-offs..... Bottlers who can get their team playing consistent football..... In Sven you trust..... What good is making the play offs if you can't motivate the players on the final stage to get promoted? It's all well and good being "consistent" but when their consistency disappears when they really need it how does it make them any better?
funkyrobot Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Billy with this squad would pish all over Sven.... Wakey wakey.... Wake up yourself. Not saying Sven is any good, just saying Davies is not the answer. Davies is very effective at blaming others when he ultimately fails.
tickler28 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 They've managed promotion-winning sides (Keane and Worthington have even won titles) with far less resources than the mercenary has had with us. Or don't you think 13th in the league (and likely to fall even further) is a dismal failure? Put it this way I could do a better job than those donkeys.......fact.....shame we'll never know! I'd rather have Mickey Adams back!

Maybe the players of forest were motivated but simply not good enough? He proved he can get teams into the playoffs with very little help from the board, you'd think he would get plenty of help at leicester.

Doesn't sound to me like he had no help from the board. We can't compare yet no, as the season has yet to be finished. I just don't see the big deal about Jones and Davies.
Tielemans63 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Lee Clark would be my choice and I've said that for a while. I think in many ways (if it came up) the job is on the surface a great job but a bit of a poisoned chalice in many ways. I wouldn't discount Mark Hughes, the Manchester City job probably was to big for him but the Leicester job wouldn't be. He'll prob be holding out for a prem club though.

DanTheFox07 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Sven wasn`t good enough for man city in the premier league so clearly had his fault`s as a manager! made some suspect signing`s here already with the budget given to him and I don`t care what anyone say`s but If your happy as a leicester fan right now we might aswell give up and be in league one! we should be moving onto bigger and better thing`s! I saw a lot more quality from southampton and reading this evening than we have at our disposal! and those team`s have spent no where near our budget! Sven has had his chance, the fact we haven`t graced the top 6 under his tenure say`s an awful lot and if we can`t beat the likes of millwall with pretty much a full strength team then where are we headed? We look one dimensional at the best of time`s, predictable as we have no width! and today was the day we got figured out big time and Im sorry but if Sven think`s were gonna get promoted without using winger`s he is deluded!
Tielemans63 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 You are joking or are`nt you? About what lad?
accessory Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Put it this way I could do a better job than those donkeys.......fact.....shame we'll never know! I'd rather have Mickey Adams back! Maybe you should be the one with the megabucks salary then. They've had success in this league, so if they're donkeys, what does that make Sven? By the way, Mickey Adams "led" Port Vale to a 4-0 hiding at home to Morecambe yesterday.
Guest MattP Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Ron Atkinson, Paulo Di Canio and Garth Crooks.
Guest MattP Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 On a serious note, none of the names really inspire me, though I doubt even the most ludicrous names banded about could actually do any worse at the minute.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Billy Davies would top my list. Followed by Dave Jones, Lee Clark, and Karl Robinson.
filbertway Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Owen Coyle if he gets the boot from Bolton! I'm sure he wouldn't mind dropping down a level for a while given the resources that would be at his disposal.
beryllind Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 The present management team will not get us out of this league-------------Carlo Ancelotti is the big name we need,--- the owners would like that
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 I'd like Owen Coyle if he became available, although it'd be a worry as to why he became available. Dunno why people think Poyet would come here, he's set up well at Brighton so doubt he'd gamble on failure here
liamsm Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Dave Jones. u must be joking wolves nothing cardiff not a lot personal life questionable
liamsm Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 On what basis do you exclude O'Neill? Has he personally said he will not come? yes he did cant remember if it was before sousa or after him, he said he was not interested in coming back to us
Finchy Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 The present management team will not get us out of this league-------------Carlo Ancelotti is the big name we need,--- the owners would like that Wtf another person saying Carlo Ancelotti. Think about what you're saying. Why the hell would he come to Leicester? So deluded it's not even funny. We have to give Sven the season, let him learn how to get this team playing effectively in this league. Even playing crap so far we've managed to be 2 points from the play offs, i'm 100% sure Sven will get us up.
liamsm Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 If MON won't come, then any of the following: Roy Keane Billy Davies Dave Jones Iain Dowie Nigel Worthington Aidy Boothroyd Phil Brown All have had success in this league, which is more than the ageing Swedish mercenary will EVER do. The happy-clappies need to wake up and smell the coffee. you say all of these managers have had success in this league, what success has Dave Jones had? i cant be bothered to look at the history of the rest of them, cos non of them are doing much more

ian_marshall Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Talk about a major overreaction on this board! Please look at the bigger picture. Yes, we were absolutely abysmal yesterday and lost to a very poor side, but such is football and the division we are in. I still do not believe that whether it be through late signings, injuries or suspensions that all of the players have adjusted to each others game yet. This takes time but will come the more the side play together and consistency will improve. This is clearly a very talented side, one of the best we have had for a long time, a point which was exhibited by the performance against Derby. If we are to draw any positives from recent defeats the games we have lost have all been against lowly placed opposition, whilst we have beaten all the sides who have been in and around the top six. By comparison last season we thrashed a lot of the bottom teams but came unstuck against the top teams as we didn't have the quality. This has now been addressed and I'm sure as the season progresses we'll start beating the divisions lesser sides. Everyone on this forum seems certain West Ham will eventually dominate the league and admittedly whilst they do have a game in hand we are only 2 points away from them. Southampton look well placed currently but aside from West Ham and based on current form Leeds, they haven't taken many points from the top sides in this division. Remember in football quality always shines through in the end. For those calling for Sven's head, look at Arsenal and the start they have made this season. Surely the majority would agree that Arsenal would have been stupid to sack Wenger as he will turn things around. Again another team with high expectations this season are Liverpool. They didn't start particularly well but are slowly climbing and you can be sure that they'll in the mix at the end of the season. Cardiff last season despite a poor start still finished in the playoffs. Our start has not been disasterous nor is it anywhere near as bad as last seasons start. Give this team the time it needs to settle and we will definitely be there or thereabouts. If you think back to the incredibly poor start we had last season, had our strong run not come to an abrupt end is was quite feasible at one point that we could possibly have snatched second spot. We are in a far better position this season, and I cannot see any team in this division running away with the league like QPR did last season. We've just got to ride the storm, keep close to the teams at the top, and when our time comes cease the opportunity!
ray49 Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 If we are going to stick with SGE I would like to see an attacking coach come in to replace Dietmar Hamann/Chris Powell who by the way is doing a good job at Charlton. Didn't our decline last season more or less start when Powell and Hamann left? We have some of the best players in the division as they have shown occasionally this season but the fiasco yesterday (and don't forget the second half against Watford) suggests we have sub-standard coaching. I wonder if someone like Chrissy or Billy Davies would come as coach with a view to taking over as manager next year and make Sven director of football (great contacts).
