Electricity Sports 1960 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 George Riley ((BBC Sports presenter) has said that Sven has received the following pay-offs: England £3m, Man City £2.1m, Mexico £2m, Ivory Coast £2m, Leicester £1m. Notts County waived. Total £10m Worth it?
Bert Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 If its mutual consent I didn't think he'd get anything?
Jon the Hat Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 If its mutual consent I didn't think he'd get anything? Surely "Mutual consent" is just spin. He was sacked.
Len Finsbury Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Works both ways really, doesn't it? Termination of a contract usually results in a pay out regardless of which way it is. No point in having contracts if there's no compensation for a premature termination. Having said that, is's a shed load of money for leaving your jobs!
Thracian Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Such a pity managers aren't paid on the basis of points won! .
Charl91 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 I'm sure he would have rather have had the job than the pay-off though

cambridgefox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Cunning plan Sven.Worth 16m of which 10m earned being sacked!!!

Len Finsbury Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Wish I could get that sort of reward for failure. You could. Become a banker. We all know professional sports contracts are unlike employment contracts that most of us hold. If they were, then no one would get contract payouts. It's the nature of the beats unfortunately.
Babylon Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Cunning plan Sven.Worth 16m of which 10m earned being sacked!!! You saying he pays no tax or agent fees then?
Charl91 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 I'm serious. People like to portray him as a money-grabber, desperate to be sacked so he can get a pay-out, but to me he comes across as a genuine guy who loves football. He waived his notts county fee after all. Why shouldn't he be paid for being fired anyway? They signed a contract, and didn't let him see it through. That's a lot of wages owed, and probably grounds for unfair dismissal, as his role was to get promoted - since he never got the whole season, only a quarter of one, we don't know whether that would have happened or not. If you think Sven wanted to get sacked, then you have no credibility.
dannythefox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 It says on sky sports they've agreed compo and he only had ten months left on his contract so it wont as much as you think.
Mack Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 George Riley ((BBC Sports presenter) has said that Sven has received the following pay-offs: England £3m, Man City £2.1m, Mexico £2m, Ivory Coast £2m, Leicester £1m. Notts County waived. Total £10m Worth it? He was only employed for the World Cup by the Ivory Coast so that pay off is certainly bollocks as there was no contract to break. As far as Sven and us went I am sure he would give three times that amount to have us in 1st place and heading for the Premier League. He is a far more decent man than many give him credit for, if England want to pay him stupid amounts of money why shouldn't he accept it? He also takes great credit for walking away from Notts County without bleeding them dry.
dave the caveman Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 If you think Sven wanted to get sacked, then you have no credibility. That's just like, your opinion, man. Not sure he wanted to get sacked myself, I just don't think he really cared either way. His role at the club was to be its face. He didn't do any coaching and he didn't spend time worrying about tactics. That much is clear. He just sat around getting paid. Now he's been sacked he just gets all the money in one go instead of it being payed out in installments. The man is probably already lying on a portuguese beach. Don't fool yourself into thinking he cared one little bit about LCFC.

dave the caveman Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Which is just your opinion. Difference being my opinion is usually correct.
Babylon Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Difference being my opinion is usually correct. Any anyone who says that is usually wrong about most things.
Corky Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 In fairness Sven is lying on the same Portuguese beach as me. I asked him about tactics and he had no clue, saying he wasn't bothered.
5waller5 Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 In fairness Sven is lying on the same Portuguese beach as me. I asked him about tactics and he had no clue, saying he wasn't bothered. Probably because he was lying on the beach and couldn't be bothered to talk to some muppet disturbing him wanting to talk about work.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Difference being my opinion is usually correct. Again, in your opinion.
cambridgefox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 You saying he pays no tax or agent fees then? Tongue in cheek Babylon.im confused over the whole saga to be honest, only time will tell if it was a good thing ,bad thing to sack him,im more annoyed with the players than Sven.People like Megson i wouldnt piss on if they were on fire, but Sven seems a tad unfortunate to go and still has my respect(which im sure he is relieved about)
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Wish I could get that sort of reward for failure. Exactly this... Makes the bitter pill of being sacked slightly more easier to swallow don't it... The payouts Sven has allegedly received over the years are utterly utterly ridiculous and another sign of how football shoots itself in the foot time and time again
21st Century Fox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Judging how the media seems to fluctuant the amount we've actually spent over the summer from anywhere between £10 million to £22 million, I wouldn't believe any figure they put out concerning Sven.
