Bert Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Kasper 6 - one great save, maybe could've done better for their first two, unlucky with the third. Peltier 8 - an extra point for not shaking greens hand. Solid as per. Konchesky 6 - at fault for their second, but a decent second half. Bamba 6 - did ok, still messes about too much on the ball. SSL 5 - very shaky. Abe 5 - doesn't give the ball away, but does little else. Wellens 6 - still tries his Hollywood crap, bug had a great 2nd half. King 8 - seemed to have his freedom back and a weight lifted off his shoulders. A goal well worth waiting up for. Nugent 7 - Very bright once more, unlucky not to score and worked hard. Beckford 4 - says it all really. Vassell 6 - looked dangerous with his direct running. Dyer 7 - along with Howard changed the game. Gutted GE went off injured. Howard 7 - made his presence felt and had a hand in both goals. Johnson 6 - not on for long but added composure.
Tielemans63 Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 4 for Beckford is generous. He deserves a lower mark for being a thoroughly divisive influence on the team.

For a bloke who played only one half, I'd love to know what Beckford got four points for?
Thracian Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Haha, two goals including a screamer to keep us in with a chance of a draw plus earning what some say should have been a nailed on penalty and still Kingy struggles for a MoM mark! God it's tough for ex-Academy lads!

Bert Posted 29 October 2011 Author Posted 29 October 2011 For a bloke who played only one half, I'd love to know what Beckford got four points for? Don't get me started on some of my ratings after some of your kingy ratings! Howard played less than a half but he got a 7.... Anyway, he did at times show a bit of willing and looked to try and get on the end of things. We're not playing to his strengths which isn't helping...,
Father Ted Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Ref on par with Beckford. Really? What is it with these refs? No peno? Not even a foul for the 2 footer on Dyer? WOW.

Anyway, he did at times show a bit of willing and looked to try and get on the end of things. We're not playing to his strengths which isn't helping..., That's something I completely agree on. I feel Beckford has literally been planted in a team and forced into a role rather than being integrated into to it. He has a very particular way of playing as a forward and he has just been shoved up front. We just don't seem to want to utilise his pace at all.

For some time now I've wondered if we've become the victims of our own "Bank of Thailand" publicity. Refs certainly seem to have their own agenda where we're concerned.

James. Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Ratings are based primarily on the 2nd half because the first was an utter shambles. Schmeichel - 7 One dodgy clearance but from where I was I couldn't really fault him for any of the goals. He's a great presence and the sort of guy you want during a period of upheaval like now. One save in particular was top class. Peltier - 8 Really impressed with him. Looked defensively sound and supported attacks in the second half very well. Extra mention for refusing to shake Rob Green's hand. Good lad. Bamba - 7 Sometimes he looks like quite literally the best defender in the entire world. His tackling at times is just immense. Then at other times I crap myself. Overall though he was solid and often filled the gaps when Konchesky or St Ledger were out of position. EDIT: St Ledger - 6 Forgot about him. Konchesky - 6 Obvioiusly had a bit of a shocker for one of the goals but after that I thought he made amends. Got forward at times and looked pretty solid when defending. Abe - 5 Frustrating display. Kept it simple for the most part but lost possession too often and didn't seem able to truly get in to the game. Wellens - 6 Again frustrating. Seemed to gradually improve as the match went on and by the end was starting to dominate midfield. Took too long to get there though and his over willingness to try passes that are beyond his ability is bloody annoying. King - 8 That second goal was fucking sexual. Looked classy, back to where he should be. Vassell - 6 Always gives everything but to be honest didn't really see him have that much impact before he went off. Nugent - 7 From what I've read of his previous performances this was about in line - lots of hard work and commitment. Needs a new partner though. Beckford - Refusing to rate him. Anonymous, disinterested, demotivated. One of the most pointless performances I've ever seen from a Leicester player. ==================== Dyer - 6 We need another Dyer. Can't believe he's the only winger and now he's injured. Howard - 7 Won everything in the air, pretty much the exact opposite of Beckford. His touch isn't great but he was involved in pretty much all the attacks and seemed to galvanise the team after coming on. Johnson - 6 Not loads of time to influence the game but some nice touches and passes. ==================== Rob Green - willy puller. 1st half - disorganised, no energy, no leadership. Worrying. Thought we were going to get absolutely smashed. 2nd half - different team Fans - good vocal support all the way through. Enjoyed the stadium, nice old school ground, piece of piss for me to get to which was nice. Cheers to the chap on here who sold me his ticket.

Guest ttfn Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Schmeichel 6 - Not really sure he could have done much about any of the goals. Peltier 7 - Beaten in the air by Baldock for the first and didn't get round quick enough to stop the third (harsh, I know). Better going forward. Actually looks like he wants to be here, which is nice. St. Ledger 6 - Thought he did ok. Unsurprisingly outjumped by Piquionne for the 3rd. Good on the ball. Bamba 7 - What James said. He never looks like a Championship player. He looks like a Champions League winner one minute and a pub player the next. Konchesky 5 - Very poor first half, good second half. Linked well with Dyer again. Abe 6 - Never really threatened, and was as responsible as anybody else for us not getting a grip on the game in the first half. Wellens 6 - Non-existent first half, ran the game for 10 minutes in the second and disappeared again. King 8 - As above, but scored a couple of goals. That second one was one of the best I've seen by a City player; can't wait to see it again. Vassell 6 - Did ok. Nugent 6 - Worked hard as usual, and a lovely cushioned header for King's second. Also unlucky not to score late on. Beckford 1 - He can have that for one nice lay-off. Otherwise poor touch, poor movement, poor positioning and, most damningly of all, a woeful attitude. Good on Stowell and Rudkin for having the balls to haul him off. subs: Dyer 7 - So much more direct than any of our other midfield players. An ideal substitute and a shame to see him go off injured. Howard 7 - His first touch wasn't much better than Beckford, but he unsettled the defence and obviously really wanted it. Made a couple of very clever flick-ons and lay-offs and was unlucky not to score. Johnson 6 - Did ok.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 No one gets more than a 6 for the first half. In the second half there was much better individual performances by the likes of Wellens, Konch and King. Howard coming on really did motivate everyone, just a shame we cant defend as in the second half we were class and deserved a point. Think we would have got one if the ref had given a blatant pen at 2-1.
Fifties Blue Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Gutted; Thought City were on for a point: memo to Mr. Beckford; watch highlights of Saints v 'Boro tonight
RyanB89 Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Abe 5 - doesn't give the ball away, but does little else. Abe - 5 Frustrating display. Kept it simple for the most part but lost possession too often and didn't seem able to truly get in to the game. Whats the truth?
martyn Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Schmeichel 6: No chance with the goals, was hesitant to come off his line and poor kicking today. Peltier 6: Putting green in his place seems to have clouded peoples judgement. Could be said to be part culpable in 2 whu goals. Got forward well 2nd half. Bamba 6.5: Mixed bag, was surprised he didn't follow piquionne, seemed content to let st ledger deal with him which ultimately proved fatal. Ssl 5.5: unsurprisingly beaten in the air, slow on the turn, ok in possession. Really needed mills's presence today Konchesky 5.5: Much much better 2nd half and actually put some testing balls into the box with pace. Cant ignore that 1st half horror show mind. Abe 5.5: Some nice flicks here, a nice pass there but nothing to influence the game nor to make it difficult for west ham to attack Wellens 6.5: First half awful, characterised by a half arsed attempted back heel volley into the box after his initial free kick was cleared. Slated him at half time but thought he ran the show 2nd half, great display as we took over. If he played like that consistently, he wouldn't be the player who polarises fans to the extent he does King 7.5: welcome return to scoring form, 2nd was a peach. Thought he was quiet otherwise but did help us to win the key 2nd balls after Howard came on. Nugent 6: endeavour as always but generally ineffective. Almost fashioned himself a goal out of nothing near the death Beckford 2: Did nothing except hinder the team with his lethargy (and wastefulness in possession) and alienate the fans with his attitude. Out of those slamming the fans for voicing their disapproval, how many were at the game. Desperate display. Vassell 5.5: couple of runs which promised a bit but delivered little. Doesn't influence the game nearly enough. Dyer 7: he has his critics but his introduction helped get us on the front foot and finally give the west ham defence something to think about. Shame he took a knock Howard 7: didn't win huge amounts of first balls, but his effort (take note jermaine) allowed the midfield to push up anticipating the loose balls. Dreadfully unlucky to hit the bar and involved in kings 2nd. Sad in a way that after all the money spent and pre season optimism, calling for a Howard start is not seen as ludicrous. Johnson n/a
Corky Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Schmeichel- 6 Peltier- 6 (So amusing seeing Green trying to get a handshake from him) Bamba- 6 St Ledger- 6 Konchesky- 5.5 (First half poor, second better) Abe- 5 Wellens- 6 (Got into the game second half) King- 7 (Two goals and much improved) Vassell- 5 (Did okay until he went off) Nugent- 6 (Tough role but never gave up) Beckford- N/A (Can't remember a single positive thing he did Dyer- 6 (Gave us some pace) Howard- 6 (Made their defenders work) Johnson- 5
Thracian Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Sounded on the radio as if he got muscled off the ball at every exchange. Try as he might the bloke has rarely been good enough as a defender nor effective enough in creating anything. No faulting his effort mind but he seems to be in the team more for commercial reasons than anything else. I don't even like to say it cos his attitude is brilliant. I hoped he'd find a niche but it hasn't happened.
