And all this with our '20 goal a season striker' on the bench... Hopefully he will see he needs to put the effort in, he has the qualities no doubt! This performance shows we have quality but its the application that counts!!

Much more positive, and only 2 points off play offs... Now to get the managers position wrapped up before the Leeds game!

THIS COULD BE THE GAME THAT KICK STARTS OUR SEASON!!!

Hiliarious - we are able to kick start our season now we don't have a manager and are 2 points off the play offs, but when we had one and were 2 points of we were shit and he had to go - goldfish

David Nugent 3 goals in his last 6 and 5 in 11 starts this season is a good start for the club.

It's 5 in 10 really, I wouldn't count the saints game as he went off injured very early. :)

The lad has looked quality form his first touch of the ball after he signed.

I get a lot of things wrong but I did say at the time that Nugent was the signing of the summer on a free. However, I also said i'd perform a crude sex act on myself when we signed Fernandes because he was 'that' good and he's been relatively poor bar a few moments of genius.

Get the impression all is not well with Gelson.

Left out again tonight, don't think he's injured

Was very unlucky not to score in the first 2 games too, hit the post in both. Could be looking at 7 in 10 if they went in, proving to be excellent bit of business so far. Lets hope he can continue it throughout the season.

I have the odd feel I'm partially responsible for that.

Sorry, Gelson.

But you should've stuck to your word from the start.ph34r.gif

Absolutely brilliant last night and just about as good as it gets!

Actually getting to Turf Moor had been something of a nightmare. The closure of the M6 and M61 junction had had repercussions stretching 50 miles or more. It took me two hours ten minutes instead of one and a quarter hours to travel on the Express bus from Manchester.

But the reward was oh so sweet.. Most importantly, the team turned up and we really did look as if we meant business right from the start. I had watched Burnley's 3-1 demolition of Blackpool on tv and been well impressed. Yesterday, Eddie Howe had gone on record saying 'We (Burnley) come alive under the lights' and remembering last year's 3-0 defeat, I was hoping for the best whilst I wouldn't have been surprised at the worst.

But this was Leicester City, playing like we want them to play. One touch football. Superb movement off the ball. Pin-point crossfield passes. This was a joy to behold. We outshouted and outchanted the Burnley fans who were witnessing a Leicester team performance far superior to that by Blackpool.

And the goals! We had given ample evidence in the opening 15 minutes that Burnley might soon find themselves trailing and Paul Konchesky's thunderbolt was due reward for City who had been taking the game to Burnley.

Their equaliser was an opportunist goal. Schmeichel, surrounded by several players, punched clear and it rebounded off Wallace's head into the net.

But then David Nugent's goal was pure class, stretching backwards to achieve a beautiful controlled header as good as you'll see anywhere.

Yes, the penalty was a penalty - straight in front of all the City fans - our first this season - AND welcome back Paul Gallagher!

Going home on the bus were several Burnley fans and on seeing me in my City togs, all made favourable comments about City's performance. 'We were beaten by the better side', 'God, you've got a good side'.

On being asked who our next manager might be, I suggested Stowell and Rudkin!

Nugent looking the leading contender for player of the season already, he just keeps coming up with the goods.

Wellens was a class apart last night. If he continues like that, no one will touch him for player of the season.

I'm glad to say you're lucky you haven't seen him in previous games.

Delighted with that overall, we got the basics spot-on and we showed genuine attacking intent. It's exactly what we've missed all season. Width, positivity, execution. I didn't think defensively we were great but it's not important tonight, Burnley were poor.

Wellens proved his doubters wrong, still one of my favourite players for Leicester. Gallagher wasn't as good as many made him out to be IMO, still pretty weak on the whole but you can't argue with a goal and an assist, another good argument for him being in the team. Howard and Nugent were brilliant, Beckford knows he's got to up his game big time, so well done Rudkin/Stowell for dropping him. Schlupp should've made it 4 but on another night he would've, just looked a bit rusty but not to worry.

On the whole, very impressed, positive display and 3 points to go with it. Good atmosphere too, wish more of our midweek games were like that.

Programme starts 6.30 pm. Sports news is about 6.45. What's the betting Forest will be shown first?

Forest goals got shown last night. whereas ours didnt!

yer that was annoying, probably because forest were at home and they make the programme in notts. our tapes were probably stuck in traffic on the way back from burnley.

So shouldn't the goalkeeper have saved it then?

Shouldn't Kasper have done better?

Shouldn't Sky be getting player's names right?

From a deserved victory, all you seemed to focus on was the negatives. It's ridiculous. :crylaugh:

No come on smart-arse, which of those things above am I wrong about? You took issue with my post, what was untrue about what I said?

I focused on the highlights that I saw. Can you not read?

What positives should I have focused on? Our performance? Well no, because I didn't see it did I. However it did say that it sounded good on the first page.

I said the second goal was good, which it was.

I said the goalkeeper should have saved the first goal, I think most would agree that Stringer overreacted on the radio. Though I also said it was well struck.

I said Kasper should have done better, most would agree.

Personally I think it's silly to post about a performance or a 'deserved victory' when you haven't seen the game. If I was saying we put in a bad performance in a game I hadn't seen, wouldn't you have a go at me for that as well? Double-standards comes to mind.

Next time think before you post in an attempt to take the mick, despite an attempt to put me down and look clever you've ended up looking stupid and unreasonable.

If you can remember what I originally said I actually commented on the tone of your post rather than it's content, and even that was tongue in cheek and quite light hearted. You obviously haven't acknowledged that as you have related to specific points in the game as if I've disagreed with an event that occurred in the match. That isn't the case at all as I was speaking generally. Look, I'm just being honest about the fact that your constant negativity is grating. Whether it's this thread, or the hundreds of others you post in, you hardly ever seem to say anything remotely positive. You also seem to get aggravated with anyone who disagrees with you, which definitely doesn't make me the culprit of looking 'stupid and unreasonable'. I like a good moan too, sure we all do, but not constantly over something which we have a common interest in that's supposed to be entertaining - whether that's for the right or wrong reasons as a Leicester fan.

Stop the pettyness and trouble making

Konchesky had a go. The keeper probably should've done better but if you don't shoot you don't score.

Will give him confidence to try again too.

I'm sick of this attitude that if we win you're not allowed to even mention things that weren't up to scratch.

If we win, why have a forum? "Oh, lets read this other random poster going :scarf: :scarf: GET IN DER BOIZ.".

Ffs.

I mean alright there's a limit when you win, sometimes people are never pleased but there's nothing wrong with commenting on things that were wrong even if we won.

One aspect of last night's match was the positive approach by the ref. Mr Eltringham from Tyne & Wear.

Now I regard refs as a necessary evil - who need to re-read the rule book etc.etc..

But last night I was impressed.in that he endeavoured to keep the game flowing. There were times when he could - and probably should have booked players from both teams. Neil Danns sailed too close to the wind for my liking, (but it was great what he was about in principle!)

David Nugent should have been booked for kicking the ball away, albeit gently, when his appeal for a corner was rejected. Incidentally, it was a corner and the ref got it wrong - sorry, what I should have said was that the ref didn't get it quite right!!! We know the ref never gets it wrong!

Mr Eltringham just stood there and stared at David Nugent as if to say 'If you do that again, I'll have to think about recording your name.' With that, he (the ref) turned round and ran off to the centre circle.

And Sol B was extremely lucky not to see yellow for a clumsy tackle he made late on.

On the other hand, the linesman -sorry, assistant referee - on the main stand side probably had an appointment at the opticians today. There were at least four occasions when the ball clearly went fully over the line - but there again, he was probably under orders to keep the game flowing,

So thank you Mr Eltringham for allowing us to watch a very entertaining game and a big 'Thank you' for getting the penalty decision correct.

Amen to that, wish people would just stop digging at him and equally those who see every bad move as a way to have a go at the decision to sack him.

Get a grip man ! he deserved the sack he was bloody useless and made me pay to sit through the Milwall debacle without even apologizing to me personally before fvcking off with a half a million quid pay out. If i ever see him personally I will tip his scrawny little body upside down and shake £27.00 ticket money out of his Armani suit trousers then kick his well used balls so hard he will never be able to operate as a sex pest again.
