Tielemans63 Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 If the owners had already lined-up and then appointed someone a couple of days after sacking Sven then there'd have been an outcry over his treatment. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't at the min.
wellyfox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 So we talking a done deal is gonna take 4 day's and plse don't come out with it is the week end. Even for the owners the sooner the better and we ain't talking a £50 deal. I would not settle till the deal was done. This is all ballocks. It's great our owners are backing us but they need a football man in. This ain't a corner shop. At the very top we are a rudderless ship. Summer spending and sacking sven. I for one am starting to wonder whats going to happen?
Filbert The Fox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 I know people say we should'nt be held to ransome over how much we should pay Hull. But surely if our board see NP as the man to take us into the premier league then why not just pay the compensation being asked.
Mack Posted 11 November 2011 Author Posted 11 November 2011 I don't know about anyone else but I am thoroughly pissed off with this whole farce. It took our owners two weeks to identify Pearson as their man and so far another week to get him on board. Meanwhile the squad has no figure head and no long term guidance. Valuable time has been wasted and if we don't make the top 6 this season Top and his old man will only have themselves to blame. I have no idea if the past three weeks have been down to nativity, incompetence, inexperience, stubbornness, being tight with dosh or a mixture of all three and I don't care. Time for forget about this joke situation and it's repercussions for the weekend.

They're damned if they do, damned if they don't at the min. But that's how Sven got the job in the first place. He took it only TWO DAYS after Sousa got the push. A three-week gap between managers, especially at this stage of the season, is less than professional, and doesn't reflect well on Vichai, Top and co..

The real shame here, to my mind, is that Pearson will only have a few days to get the team ready for the next game.. And we need to start winning games.
Micky Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 The amount of garbage spouted on here is unreal. The length of time that it takes to appoint a manager is not set in stone. Legislation can cause this process to take days/weeks or even months. This is not championship manager! Be patient.
thybluefox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 By all accounts it's Hull that have dragged this out longer than necessary, if they'd have been true to their word then this will have all been sorted at the start if the week.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 This is becoming a farce. Dont get me wrong, if he comes, Nigel will not be a bad appointment at all but ive got to admit i was hoping for much better, the whole of Leicester would have lifted off if our God had come home, still feel distinctly underwhelmed by the whole thing
Micky Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 It's 'football manager' showing my age! In my day it was championship manager!
Narborough Bod Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 showing my age! In my day it was championship manager! I can top that. Football Director on the spectrum. Happy days.

thybluefox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Has someone pasted in the HumbersideSport tweet yet? About both sides softening.
lestajigs Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Bert said by Tuesday it should be confirmed so here is hoping Defo not Tuesday then!!!
EnderbyFox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Chill ..........why do you think we won't ?? I don't think he's saying we won't, think he's getting to the point that the more time Pearson has with the team, the better chance we have of winning games.

Yep that is what I'm saying. Just a shame it couldn't be sorted off the pitch so that we can start sorting things out on the pitch. I'm not surprised its protracted though.

My memory isn't crystal clear but I'm pretty thats wrong and you are trying to dramatise it.
Babylon Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 It took our owners two weeks to identify Pearson as their man and so far another week to get him on board. For the third time to you in this thread, you don't know when they decided upon Pearson. They said they wanted a motivator and someone who has experience in this league, they never said they wanted a name. So Pearson could well have been first choice. For all you know they already knew Pearson was the man and they (or someone here who still has contact with him) had spoken to him or his agent at some point over those two weeks. Maybe between them they agreed the two week international break would be good for both parties to get it all sorted. Look at Pearsons interviews after Hulls last two games. With hindsight they do look a bit like the words of a man who knew something could well be in the pipeline? It's very easy to jump to conclusions, crikey I have with the above. So perhaps people should lay off castigating them when only a few people really know what has gone on.
Babylon Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 But that's how Sven got the job in the first place. He took it only TWO DAYS after Sousa got the push. But that is the exception rather than the rule. Sousa was not their man, Sven was and he was well respected by them. I doubt you could line someone up behind his back without him knowing due to his high profile and contacts. A three-week gap between managers, especially at this stage of the season, is less than professional, and doesn't reflect well on Vichai, Top and co.. But two or three weeks is actually quite normal. How long did Portsmouth take to find their manager. Go back through history and there will be loads taking this amount of time.

Surely the owners must have discussed the situation weeks before Sven got the push. For my money O'Neill was clearly the target but Martin is Martin. If Pearson was No. 1 target then an approach surely would have been sooner than has happened.
