21st Century Fox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 There was also a quick turn around for getting Sven in because he had to a certain extent already agreed to go and manage in Qatar (I think) so it was a now or never type situation for the Thais.
Corky Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 But two or three weeks is actually quite normal. How long did Portsmouth take to find their manager. Go back through history and there will be loads taking this amount of time. I know what you're saying, but Portsmouth didn't sack their manager so they certainly wouldn't have been looking elsewhere before. I'm not convinced Pearson is their first choice, though he's not too far down the list.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 HE WAS THEIR FIRST CHOICE! They didn't even bother interviewing people because they knew it would be Pearson. MON Was never coming back, That was established when they tried to get him when paulo was leaving.
Babylon Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Surely the owners must have discussed the situation weeks before Sven got the push. Maybe they did, maybe they had a list of names they were interested in. When Sven got sacked they spoke to a few people (including Pearson. He said he was interested but that it should wait until the international break. I'm putting this out there as another option. The facts are nobody has a clue one was or another, so how people can use it to bash them for not having a plan I don't know. For my money O'Neill was clearly the target but Martin is Martin. Maybe, maybe not. If Pearson was No. 1 target then an approach surely would have been sooner than has happened. As I said, how do you know he was approached off the record (look at his interviews).
Babylon Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 I know what you're saying, but Portsmouth didn't sack their manager so they certainly wouldn't have been looking elsewhere before. If Hull hadn't dug their heals in this could have all been sorted in the space of two weeks!
Happy Fox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 HumbersideSport BBC Humberside Sport @HumbersideSport understands compensation talks re-open between #HCAFC & #LCFC, attitudes may have 'softened'. Possible deal early next week
Corky Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 It was never going to be straightforward, this is Leicester City we're talking about.
Nickfosse Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 You may well be right. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I was interedted when on this weeks Boot Room both Birch and Stringer predicted a fortnight ago that NP would be next manager. I stinketh a rat. Isn't there only two things that matter here. One - NP will be next LCFC manager Two - None of know for sure when the compo situation will be resolved

funkyrobot Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 It will be grape when city finally orange a suitable transfer fee and we finally get Nigel pear-son. It's getting on my figging nerves. I'm going bananas.
fox in the sox Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Please stop going off on a tangelo and stick to the topic my old fruit.

Possible deal early next week Bloody rubbish, this has dragged on far too long and will ultimately damage the promotion prospects of both clubs, it's blatantly obvious that to sack Sven was a "knee jerk" reaction and Top and Co were arrogant enough to presume who ever they had in mind would jump in bed as soon as they flashed the cash! All gone horribly wrong now, it's all very well banging on about it being 2 or 3 weeks historically before a new manager is appointed, not going to argue that fact even though it's rare during this time of year, but when we are weeks away from the make or break "festive period" when winning games and "keeping pace with the leaders" becomes almost critical, not to have an appointment or to have even had an official statement from the club is at best strange and at worst unheard of and extremely disturbing!

psychonaut Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 which the team is gonna need to learn the new managers crappy system You mean Scrappy?
funkyrobot Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 You mean Scrappy? I found him a bit annoying. Much preferred Scooby, followed by Shaggy. Thelma was rough. The other one looked like she'd go like the clappers but I think the blonde bloke with the ill fitting flares was hanging out the back of her.
teblin Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 I see people moaning about how long it's taken. In the real world it usually takes well over 3 week to replace someone in a role. The owners are doing it by the book so fair play to them. Big Nigel will be here soon I'm sure.
wurmer Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 Bored of this now - will check back in next Sat to see if it's resolved...

Happy Fox Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/story-13829263-detail/story.html? Leicester City appear to be no closer to reaching an agreement with Hull City over compensation for Nigel Pearson, creating fears that the deal could collapse. Hull chairman Assem Allam is refusing to soften his stance and will not accept anything less than the £1 million-plus they have told City they want for Pearson's services, plus those of his assistants Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh. Nigel Pearson However, City seem equally determined not to be held to ransom over their first choice candidate to replace Sven-Goran Eriksson, who left the King Power Stadium club nearly three weeks ago. One possible solution could be that Pearson resigns, with compensation being decided in the court room. But it is understood he will not consider that option. Resignation could leave him open to a charge of breach of contract as he still has 20 months left on his agreement with Hull. There is also the possibility Hull could place him on lengthy gardening leave, making it impossible for him to manage City for a second time. The saga began last Sunday when City made a request to speak to Pearson. This was rejected by Hull but Pearson then indicated he would like to hold talks with City. It now looks as though this will rumble on through the weekend with no signs of an agreement being reached. As a result, there is the serious possibility that City could pull out of the talks and look to recruit their new manager elsewhere. That would leave Pearson with, apparently, no way back at Hull. And it would leave the Tigers with a manager who has been angered by their obstructive stance. Pearson has not attended a Tigers training session all week and Hull have already begun the search for his replacement, an indication they have accepted he will no longer be their manager. However, they are holding out for the highest-possible compensation package, especially as City are perceived to be the Championship's richest club. City are said to be willing to offer Pearson a lucrative package which would almost double his £500,000 a year wages at Hull, plus a big bonus should he get them promoted this season, which is the owners ambition and main reason why they parted ways with Eriksson. However, the longer the Pearson deal drags on the less likely they will get their wish
ithuriel Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 If there is one thing i know about Leicester fans it is you will always find some that moan about anything and vehemently so. During Brian Littles stint here, in his third season when he got us promoted he was spat on during one match at half time whilst heading up into the players tunnel and i can remember O'niell getting slated a few time's by poeple in the middle of his run with us. It was the same with Pearson, i can remember arguing with one or two poeple in the middle of his second season with us for being a poor manager and that anybody could have gotten us out of league one If Pearson does indeed come back and takes us up and keeps us there i can guarantee there will still be plenty of moaning, some poeple just enjoy being miserable Victor Meldrews. Maybe the mods could put in a Victor Meldrew emote
