Worst Ever Away Trip?

Derby a couple of seasons ago. Completely shite match, absolutely nothing to talk about after the game apart from Kings own goal. Quite possibly the worst game of football I've ever seen

I'll second that. I was in a horrendous mood during and after that one. I'd got all up for it and was a bit pissed, we looked the better team up until the goal, then when it went in all positivity just sapped from me. Awful, awful match and we never looked like equalising.

Cov away under Sousa was shocking too, we absolutely hammered them and missed about 8 sitters in the first half, but somehow only drew, we were already in the relegation places which and they were in the top 6. The minutes between their goal and ours were an absolute nightmare, they were abolsutely loving it an it was looking like a slow death, we just passed it in our own half creating nothing. Our goal was enjoyable for about 2 minutes but after that frustration crept in again, the walk away from the ground wasn't very enjoyable.

Gotta be the 5-1 defeat at Forest for me. Terrible performance, woeful result and that cvnt Earnshaw is still in my head doing backflips when he got his 3rd.

A close second would be the play offs at Cardiff. For obvious reasons, but that Black Eyed Peas song they played after when they did a lap of the pitch still gives me nightmares.

Which song did they play? Can't remember that bit

Two for two very different reasons. Sheffield Wednesday away in 2010 just after we beat Forest 3-0. We lost 2-0 and it was the most boring game I have ever watched and will watch. The highlight for us was a 25 yard, Kermorgant free kick blazing over the bar. That and the 3-2 at Forest last year, worse than the 5-1 in that it was devastating.

remember both of them, that 2-0 really was absolute dross.

Can't say I was at the 5-1 but I've never felt so dejected coming out of a football ground as I did then after yet another howler from Weale. Train on the way back was stopped at some point for half hour and was absolutely roasting.

Away game at Coventry in the 80's. Played abysmally, got beat 2-0 and there was a pitch invasion in the second half which scared the life out of me involving Coventry charging at the Leicester fans.

Coventry fans actually at one of their own home games ??

That is also my abiding memory of that game. I got to the ground just as they scored. Atmosphere was shocking and we were too.

I also thought the Forest 2-2 this season was worse than the 5-1. It was clear from some way out that we would be thrashed, me and my mate just decided to accept it as one of those experiences you've got to have as a football fan. We seemed to just laugh at ourselves throughout the second half with some amusing chants and barely any City fans left early. It was odd but I have felt so much worse at plenty of other matches.

Being 2-0 up this season though, thinking that we might finally beat them there after 40 years. being robbed so terribly and Weale flapping in the last minute of stoppage time, that was terrible. And on the way out the ground we had to endure their pathetic fans celebrating like they'd won the league and taking the piss out of our team which had outplayed them for 70 minutes. There is a good reason why they are not just hated by us but disliked by a lot of football fans.

Last season's trip to Pompey will live long in my memory. Don't get to many away games but happened to be working down there that week and went along as it wasn't travelling back until the next morning.

Absolute joke performance, the players didn't give a shred of effort, our support was shit and we get stuffed. Awful night.

Cardiff and Stoke away still makes me feel sick still but Forest 5-1 away, I lived two years with Forest fans and that was the worst time to be around them until we beat them 3-0.

But also shit games such as Southampton when Matty Fryatt showed how brilliant he is and Reading away losing 2-0 can't remember us being in their half never mind having a shot . Losing to 10 men Watford thinking shit we are going down.

I am enjoying reading this topic bringing back bad days but that is what makes the you a supporter seeing you team lose but no matter what you will be back the Tuesday night at home to Yeovil.

One man that did bring Away games more enjoyable for us in terms of results is Nigel Pearson.

Losing 2-0 away at Rotherham in the JPT. Losing 5-1 at forest and equally the 2-2 this season. It felt like we'd lost. I was so gutted as i thought we were finally going to win there. Can i count Doncaster in Dec 09? Got there got a pint and found out the game was off!

Losing 3-2 to forest last season was a tough one.

A great pre match atmosphere, and another easy save for Chris Weale which slipped through his hands in the final minutes after we had come back from being down twice. For me, it was the end of any play off hopes we might have had and it pretty much put forest back in the race again.

To top it all it was a sizzler of a day so we came out looking like beetroots and a leicester fan spat on me for no reason at all as we were walking back to the car. I was in my leicester shirt so there was no mistakes made over which fan I was.

2 games spring to mind for me.

1) Cambridge Utd away (Sunday game).Got in car with my brother (who had slept over so we could get a good start) turned the key for nothing to happen.Called AA only for them to say we will be with you within 3 hours.Could'nt wait that long else we'd miss the game.Phoned dad to ask if we could borrow his car.Borrowed his car. Before we left told the wife AA on their way so left my car keys with her, only for her to say 'Well whats wrong with it'.I replied dunno ask the AA man when he comes.

Dropped dad back at his house and set of for Cambridge. :scarf: .

We got Spanked 5-0 (if i remember rightly) To make things even worse saw my neighbour coming out of the ground, as at the time she was a Cambridge Utd fan.My neighbour was a Miss Dublin.Yes Dion Dublins sister who had who had been lording it up in the directors area of the ground.

2)Me & my brother won 2 tickets for Forest away with the supporters club with coach travel included.Again this was a Sunday game & live on itv.We had instuctions to meet up with our coach at 1 o'clock. in Humberstone Gate. We saw the coaches waiting as we pulled up in the car( my dads not mine  ).Nowhere to park so we had to park round the corner. As we walk back & turned into where the coaches were eager to get our hands on our tickets the coaches had gone  .We were 2 minutes late.So we ran back to the car & decided we would follow the coaches. We decided to go A46 Six Hills route. We finally caught them up just pass the Durham Ox pub flashing our headlights.Eventually the coachs stopped in the 1st layby off the A46 En route to Nottingham for what we thought was for us but turned out to be a Police escort to the ground. After asking every driver if this was the supporters club bus we finally located our tickets ( his face was a picture when we told him what had happened & that we chased the coaches down).

So after following the buses to the ground in the car(with police escort). We settled down in our seats to watch the mighty Foxes hammer Forest. The score Forest 4 Leicester 0.

The recent Birmingham game was simply one word.. Sh+t. First problem was no trains to Birmingham, so at to get a bus to Coventry, then walk from Coventry bus station to Coventry railway station. Then got on a train to Brum from there. All right for a while, arrived at the sh+thole. Horrible atmosphere (I'm a villa fan aswell) what made things worse looking at all those Anti-Villa scarves. The game was like watching Tennis in the first half, boring! Second half a one sided ref came on. The atmosphere was sh+t, same old chav-Birmingham only sing when their winning. Coming back feeling very down, this time coming home it was a straight forward coach from Brum to Nuneaton.

Away at Everton, 21st December 2002/3?

1-0 down, 2-1 up, 17-year-old Rooney comes off the bench and we lost 3-2.

Wasn't actually a bad game but it was the second coldest I've been in my life behind a blizzard in Andorra.

Sheffield United away the season we got relegated, 3-0 down in the first 20 minutes i think? Then on the way back to the train station we got escorted and whilst walking past a pub the Sheffield United fans decided to start throwing bottles down at us! First away game i had gone on the train as well

Burnley away last season under Sousa, lost 3-0, we walked onto the pitch with heads down, the body language said it all, we were so bad even Leon Crncic made the bench. Was then met with "you came all this way to lose 3-0" after the game. Lousy day out sat on wooden seats watching Conrad Logan trying to catch a football, and failing.

Spoke to a Sheff Wed fan on the way there, he was convinced we were gunna stuff them (So was I!) and Millwall 2v0 last year me and my mates were hyped up for this one and it was shocking, although we were loss in London for an hour, saw all the sites not bad

Harlow, Jan 1980.

FA Cup 3rd .round replay.

Nightmare 250 mile round trip in thick fog

No warm food/drinks in the ground.

Stood on muddy sloping grass bank: no terraces.

Couldn't see the far goal because of the fog.

Locked in car park for an hour after the match.

Oh, and we lost 1-0

Reading away New Years Day 2003. Felt stupidly rough, tired, cold and wet.

Watch 45 mins of turgid football before the game gets abandoned at half time!

I remember that!!

Funnily enough I totally enjoyed that - scoreline didn't bother me too much, getting to be in that insane terrace in some of the worst weather I've ever seen was still a hilarious experience.

QPR last season. Lost 1-0, robbed of a draw, deserved the win. 88th min, kick started our bad run.

This could well be mine - that was quite unbearable
