MPH Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 5-1 wupping at Cambridge. God knows when, must be 20 years ago. Early kick off, Sunday game, we were late (were 2-0 down when we got there), shite ground, humid, no beer before game, no beer after game (early closing on a Sunday).... SHITE ! thats the same season we beat them in the play offs if i remember with a great 5-0 home win which was coincidentally my favorite home game ever. LOVED it!
Nick Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 The car journey home after losing the play off final - that's got to be the worst. Looking out the car window on to the motorway, cramped in the back seat, hangover already kicking in, the taste of disappointment like drinking a cold cup of sick whilst having a migraine. The smiling faces inside the vehicles of the celebrating opposition, scarves trapped, flailing from car windows, already looking forward to those 'big four' fixtures. It's like you're a teenager breaking up with your first serious girlfriend all over again. It's the reason I actually took a moment to feel sorry for Derby when they made that journey home the following year having lost to us. Just a moment mind. Then I told them it was character building. I felt the same about relegation to League 1 - I was stuck in South Wales with a bunch of Gunners who couldn't possibly have ever had any notional range of empathetical disappointment for the pits of my stomach that hung from my throat. But that's football.
I am Rod Hull Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 thats the same season we beat them in the play offs if i remember with a great 5-0 home win which was coincidentally my favorite home game ever. LOVED it! Indeed it was. Revenge is sweeeeet.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Also Southampton FA Cup 2008, Sheff Wed 2010, Coventry 2008 were all absolute shite as well. And Millwall 2010 when Bednar wouldnt actually move.
Head Honcho Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Harlow away .. getting beaten by a non league side at a leisure centre with grass banks as terracing For some strange reason I loved Harlow.......................on the other hand Exeter a couple of years later was awful!
James. Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 This was horrific. Freezing cold, got utterly drenched on my way to the stadium, was on my own, game got delayed by 45 minutes due to the conditions, the Saints fans completely destroyed us from both sides and we lost 2-0. Horrific.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 I was going to say the 6-1 loss of Portsmouth, or the Kermagant penalty, but it gets worse. Cardiff away just gone, boring 0-0, vassell nearly nicked it, but this was the least of our worries. Me and 2 mates went for the night out in Cardiff on Sunday night. All was well, my mate met this bird (bit of a tramp), but she was all over him. Ended up spending the night with her, and she wanted to come back to the hotel room to get a few hours sleep as she had work in the morning.... Anyway, she came back , nothing happened, she had work at 7am in the morning (to which she didn't leave till 7.15am). Didn't think anything of it. Just getting everything ready about 12pm ready to go for a nice full english, and theres a bang on the door. I open the door, to find 10 police officers armed with guns run in, pin us down, and arrest us on suspicion of rape!! We spend the next 24 hours in a police cell, being treated like a rapist, have my bellend swabbed, wondering WTF is going on. I was wondering if any of them did nail it, luckily not. It turns out, she had a boyfriend, had to take her mum work at 7am, and the easiest way out was to say she got raped! As she thought she was going to lose her job and boyfriend! Silly whore. LUCKILY, noone did touch her, or it'd probably be a differen't story. Moral of the story, when you go to away games, or anywhere in general, be carefull, because it can ruin your life if you bring some dirty sket back. For weeks after I had nightmares, and was thinking "what if" they believe her. Luckily she couldn't bring herself forward to carry on with it, and went to the police and admitted she lied. Bitch. WOW! I wish my weekends were that interesting...
Mythyaar Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Away game at Coventry in the 80's. Played abysmally, got beat 2-0 and there was a pitch invasion in the second half which scared the life out of me involving Coventry charging at the Leicester fans.
Bugg Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Not so much the result, although we did lose. Swansea away last season, having the train I was currently travelling on the way back being 120 minutes late arriving in Birmingham
MPH Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Indeed it was. Revenge is sweeeeet. http://fansonline.net/leicestercity/article.php?id=602 Courtesy of Bentley's roof...
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Both involving Reading away. The very disapointing performance last year where we absolutely terrible and a New years day clash which was abandoned at half time <_<
Podge Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Forest away under Pearson never left a game feeling so empty.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Without Maxi's last minute equaliser, MK Dons in 2009 would have taken this prize by a fvcking mile. Awful atmosphere from both sets of fans, soulless ground, ropey pubs for pre-match drinks and outplayed for much of the game. Peterborough in the same season had much potential but we were in a hideously overcrowded stand, treated like shit by Cambridgeshire fuzz pre and post match and played abysmally. Not good at all. Forest in 2009 was dreadful too, 5-1 in a local derby is always incredibly depressing.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 The 'first leg' of forest away in the cup a few years ago. Not such a friendly atmosphere afterwards. That or the 5-1 loss there, uh. I'm going to stop going to the city ground. Oh and every away game at cov I've been to. ****ing waste of time hellhole. Forest away losing 5-1. The league cup first leg wasn't bad?! (for us fans not for CC)
eye666 Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Coventry in the relegation season was fairly bad under Holloway. Burnley under Sousa was diabolical. Worst for me has to be Tranmere in the League 1. Freezing cold, wet, mate had died a couple of days before, the boys played awfully and I get back to the car to find it's been broken in to. Horrible night.
rico Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Away game at Coventry in the 80's. Played abysmally, got beat 2-0 and there was a pitch invasion in the second half which scared the life out of me involving Coventry charging at the Leicester fans. i was at that game too! worst for me was Portsmouth away in the play-offs when we drew 2-2 after the game there were Pompey fans everywhere looking for fights, got split up from everyone i was with, luckily i found a couple of my mates about 1/2 mile from the ground pretending to be locals
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 For me losing 3-2 and drawing 2-2 at Forest the last couple of times was much worse than 5-1. Least during the 5-1 we never deserved a thing and it became a bit of a joke really, not really believing what you were watching. The 3-2 and 2-2 games we played very well and should have got a draw and a win, yet to lose points at the end was really gutting, I felt much worse after those than the 5-1. Losing 1-0 at Derby due to Kings OG was a poor away day too.
DMU Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Most of mine are from the relegation season is has to be said! Really wasn't a good season for away trips for me,went to the bad ones & missed out on the good ones! Charlton away in that season losing 2-0, i think it was Megson's first game, we were crap that day proper awful. The stand out moment of that game was Kishishev coming on, running round for 5 minutes, before making a tackle right in front of us and looking shattered when getting up. That was the moment when you relaised how much work had to be done. Qpr away on new years day. Only 700 travelled with a crap atmosphere from both sides. Had to watch us be crap when trying to pass the ball for about half an hour before Holloway realised we were clueless at doing so before bring Howard & Hayles on so we then had to watch another 60 minutes of long diagonal HOOFS into the box to try & get anything. Horrible game. Cov away in the same season, we hadn't done well at all all season when going a goal down so when they got a penalty and scored it after half an hour you just knew there was no chance of us doing anything that day. We could still be playing & still not have scored. Schoolboy error in going to the game by Fox Travel which made the day even worse. Wednesday away 09/10 due to train cancellations/delays i got into sheffield for 5 to 3. By the time i'd got to Hillsborough interchange on the tram it was about 10 past, so i had to sprint the rest of the distance to the ground, not easy when you're unfit like me. Turned up at the ground, 15 minutes into the game to find out that we were 1-0 down & playing crap. We didn't improve much all game & we lost 2-0. Not a great day. The last one was forest away this season, purely for how gutted I was at throwing away a 2 goal lead like that. To get that close to beating Forest. Felt physically sick at the final whistle.
oadby_fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Swindon in league1, 2-2 draw after being 2-0 up... and i think it rained rained with no roof on the stand <_<
woddyuk Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Indeed it was. Revenge is sweeeeet. ironically claridge and dion playing for cambridge back then.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Losing to the red scum away - always awful any year
RonnieTodger Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Two for two very different reasons. Sheffield Wednesday away in 2010 just after we beat Forest 3-0. We lost 2-0 and it was the most boring game I have ever watched and will watch. The highlight for us was a 25 yard, Kermorgant free kick blazing over the bar. That and the 3-2 at Forest last year, worse than the 5-1 in that it was devastating.
dayday Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 I remember going to this game ( the first one not the rearranged one) It was kevin Campbells last game of his loan spell from Arsenal. The LCFC team bus left him in Brighton as he was getting the train back to London and we were chatting to him outside the ground. Another bad one was Grimsby away, that was called off just as we got to the ground and saw the team bus travelling in the opposite direction. Also remember Plymouth away midweek 3-0 down at half time we were bottom of division 2 . Wayne Clarke upfront Pleat as manager absolute shite lost 3-1 in the end Alan Paris with a consolation. About 200 LCFC on the open terrace behind the goal. Remember losing 5-2 away at Hull at Boothferry park on a fri night when the LCFC fans were chucking there scarves at Mike Hooper in goal in disgust. Got to that game late as followed the floodlights and it turned out to be the rugby ones who were training. The turnstiles were closed when we got there so had to give a bloke on the gate full price even tho 20 mins had gone and he was pocketing the cash and we were allready 2-0 down. Most away games were terrible with pleat as manager used to win about 2 a season. Remember that game at Hull well, got fined £200 for having full cans of beer on the minibus, the coppers said if they had been empty we would of got away with it....i think Hull were bottom at the time...so it just shows how crap we were under Pleat
