hackneyfox Posted 24 November 2011 Author Posted 24 November 2011 So, because he didn't have the most influential game you want to start nother merry-go-round of loanees? I'm not going to defend Dyer as being the best winger in the world but he's hardly had a sniff of action this season and you could have easily picked another occasion when he's been a massive positive in our attack. He's more than useful when given the chance and exactly the sort we've been missing. He should get some encouragement rather than a cheap knock because he had a quiet game. If Pearson decides we need another winger - and I'd say we need two to give us proper cover - then I'm sure he'll have people in mind, preferably permanent. So we shouldn't start on the loan merry-go-round yet you think we need 2 wide players! We'll wait till January then shall we? How far behind will we be then? It wasn't a cheap knock as I haven't rated him since we got promoted. I couldn't have picked another occasion where he's been a massive positive, not since we've been promoted. I don't think he's good enough for this level.
phillo Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 dyer is a squad player at best.we need to luck eise where, find someone who can get a decent ball in the box.
martyn Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 Vassell didn't consistently beat anyone out wide and is less of a goal threat than Dyer having scored only 10 goals in recent seasons compared with Dyer's 33, Vassell playing in far fewer matches due to injury and whatnot. As for Dyer's moving "inside" too much I'd say that's easily corrected if the manager sees fit but I actually see no problem if Konch is prepared to maintan the width and get behind defenders as he did before our third goal Sunday. For me a winger needs to be fluid to be most effective. They need to change flanks and move inside and out. Th important thing is that the team understands it and that someone takes responsibility for creating width in their absence. Having people glued to a flank like Kelly used to do with Levi Porter is naive. It's like a birthday treat for any decent defender. Even the brilliant Cristiano Ronaldo moves about endlessly - increasing the chances of his marker and other defenders making mistakes. League 1 counts all of a sudden in the Thracian handbook? Nigel will be pleased.
ithuriel Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 Nigel will need a few week's at least to find out exactly what he need's, in the mean time i guess they will be looking around the leagues to find suitable player's.
nickelbyfox Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 I like the shout from someone earlier about ryo miyachi from arsenal, bit of a gamble but worth it imo. However this depends on pearsons tactics, he used to play matt oakley right wing and sold gradel, so does he really want attacking out and out wingers? Danns imo would be his ideal winger.

Joe. Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 Sadly, Miyaichi is out injured for 2 months. Not happy. Yeah, and like I said on the other thread he'd be a massive gamble. The lad was playing high school football in Japan just over a year ago, he's still got a long way to go. It'll be very interesting to see how he fares eventually though should he eventually go somewhere on loan. We should be looking for somebody more established in our position though in my opinion.
Rhysm Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 Nigel will need a few week's at least to find out exactly what he need's, in the mean time i guess they will be looking around the leagues to find suitable player's. Problem is Nige has already stated his intention to play with width and because of inbalanced squad we only really have dyer and gally who play there. Sure there are others who could do a job but not their natural position. Even if nige thinks dyer is good enough, what happens if he gets crocked next game? Imo he has to get someone in even if it is just as cover. My guess is he 'll pluck a youth player out from one of the top sides and get them in till jan.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 I reckon we gotta give Nige the time to work out his best team, assess the younger players, sort out his best formation etc etc. Danns can play wide, Schlupp can be pushed wider, who knows whether Pearson might want to give one of a younger players a go? The Jan window is usually the best time to bring in the correct player(s) and would have given Pearson the time to assess everything properly

I know the Dutch league is a bit suspect but he was sensational for Feyenoord last season, so i've no concerns about him doing the business at this level.
SMX11 Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 Maybe Pearson will give Jason Banton the opportunity to show his abilities, there is no point bringing in some for the sake of it and I think Pearson will wait until Jan tbh.

How far behind will we be then? It wasn't a cheap knock as I haven't rated him since we got promoted. I don't think he's good enough for this level. January's little more than six weeks away, why would we need to sign loanee wingers when we can soon buy people who might give us some continuity for once? . We lost ground this season because, among other reasons, we didn't use Dyer, not because we did. And after Sunday's result I doubt anyone feels less optimistic about our prospects for the coming weeks. How is Dyer "not good enough" for the Championship? If you'd said he has a stamina problem in lasting more than 65 minutes I might agree but Dyer is plenty good enough to have a massive impact on games. As recently as the Millwall game, he took the opposition apart in the time he was on and might well changed the game for us if there'd been people to score from the many crosses that went to waste. Now that we finally have a reasonable two-man strike force, and enough potential back-up scorers in the team, Dyer should be potentially more dangerous. I'd sooner replace Vassell if anyone. Even if Vassell wasn't reputedly out for the season anyway, he's so often a bud that fails to bloom.
m00nie Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 we just WON 3.0.. whilst it would be nice to have some decent wingers in the squad to give us more option we still have a decent squad imo. ive said it all along i dont think buyng 1/2 wingers isnt the only issue. we needed the manager to bring in some motivation and guidance. as much as i didnt want NP to come, he seems to at least know how to cuddle some players and how to shout at others. you only have to look back at how many poor first halfs we had before and after a team talk seemed to be some kick up the arse with him, let him get to know the full squad, what there capabilites are. and come janurary i guess he will be bringing in one or two.. no reason why it will be too late by january at all.. were in the mix now. if he gives us some consistency then were fine..
wellyfox Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 Did our owners not say in the summer they don't want loan players in. As it cost money thats gone. So praps NP can't look at the loan market.
Babylon Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 we just WON 3.0 I'm not sure that has any bearing on it, because it wasn't really a 3-0 game. I would rather him get to know everyone in the squad first rather than rush out and get any old winger. Decent wingers are going to be fairly thin on the ground to loan now. Did our owners not say in the summer they don't want loan players in. As it cost money thats gone. Not to my knowledge.

Some of the saves Speroni was making were outstanding he kept them in that game and they never really troubled us. If it wasn't for him it could of been atleast 5.

Happy Fox Posted 24 November 2011 Posted 24 November 2011 @StringerSport Ian Stringer Pearson - #lcfc have "made inquiries in certain areas" when asked about loans but "can't see it happening in either direction" 5pm deadline No biggy, anyway NP is excited for the January transfer window he knows who he wants and he will get all of his transfer targets I would imagine

If it wasn't for him it could of been atleast 5. Disagree. Martin's volley over, header at Kasper and the double block from SSL and Matt Mills (can't remember who shot) were all very good chances. I think we desereved to win but I think 3-0 was slightly flattering, 5 would have been extremely flattering.

Are you forgetting Beckford should of scored two and there keeper made a great save from one of gallys shots it could of easy been 5.

That he did, but he's still far from the finished article. You can tell he's got bags of ability though. He's been hit and miss for the Reserves this year - often he'll be completely out of the game and then ruin a full-back with a quick burst. Until he gets more consistent he'd find this too big a step up for me.

Someone in this league will get him on loan at some point and he'll be devastating. 6 months with Wenger and he'll be heading in the right direction.
