Yojoe36 Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 JESUS!! Kasper is by far the best keeper in the league country
Haydos Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Just watched the (brief) highlights on the football league show. They didn't show replays but if you blinked you'd have missed Kaspar's save. Mills with a poor clearance for theirs, I'm sure he's done that 2 or 3 times this season and it's lead to a goal/good chance. Build up to Nuge's goal looked tidy and a great hit. Youngy said on the radio the keeper should be saving it but I think that's unfair, hit very sweetly and always moving away from the keeper and going within inches of the post.
MC Prussian Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 draws against teams that are near the bottom of the league Says sh*t all in the Championship and after roughly 18 games into the season. Hey, Bristol City beat Southampton today.
Guest ttfn Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Another poor clearance from Mills for their goal. Almost as bad as the one against Leeds. Good pass by him though for our goal.
flowwolf Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I don't know two games in to his reign and Pearson has dropped two points it doesn't look good for the future does it .
GianEmmo Zola Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 The moan in after the game does my head in! I swear people just wait by the phone to ring up if we havent won and moan. Like yesterday, someone rang up saying Should have played bamba left our best player out! So after a 3 0 win, if nige would have dropped ssl for bamba and wed have lost what then! Nige or any other manager cant win ! People would have moaned because we had changed a winning team! On a lighter note, great point away from home. Beat blackpool on tuesday, 2 wins and draw do nicely !
flowwolf Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Only one point away from a play off spot . Nige will get us there make no mistake .
Happy Fox Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 If we are supposedly underperforming you only have to look at Ipswich a team riddled with "good players" and they have just lost their 5 game consecutively
Happy Fox Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 So if we win all our remaining home games and draw our remaining away games that is automatic promotion form (84 points)
Corky Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 It's a good quality of NP's sides to get something from a seemingly lost cause or to get a better result than the performance. When we play well it will add to the points accumulated from those situations.
iancognito Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 If Kasper had made that save in the Prem there would have been ten different angles and god knows how many replays of it. Let's not crow about it too much though, it'd be nice to still have him around come February.
marbelladave Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 It's a good quality of NP's sides to get something from a seemingly lost cause or to get a better result than the performance. When we play well it will add to the points accumulated from those situations. This is important, under NFP City consistently get better results than their porformances deserve, yesterdays performance was really not very good against lowly placed Portsmouth but the determination and fighting spirit got us a point we barely deserved. With NFP in charge, this is not actually a surprise, think about that....... What I also found very encouraging was the substitutions, not just like for like but an attempt to completely change the way we were playing, the goal we conceded was pretty unlucky, Mills mishit his clearance them deflected a routine shot past Schmeichel....... This could have flattened us but it didn't, a decent fight back, an equaliser and a point, so fooking NFP.........
somebum Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Looks like Kasper saved us. Not been keeping up to date as I should in the past couple of weeks, but it seems like we are heading in the right direction...? It's a good quality of NP's sides to get something from a seemingly lost cause or to get a better result than the performance. When we play well it will add to the points accumulated from those situations. Fully agree with this - the ability to grind out results is a hallmark of NP's managerial capabilities.
steveherbe Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I'm really surprised by the reaction of the 'armchair' fans. All of you seem to think we were lucky, didnt play well etc etc. Well, I was there, and to be honest we were the better side by miles. Only one team wanted to win the game, Pompey were delighted with a point. lets face it, we are the BIG team in this division, due to the money we have spent/will spend. Almost every team will be looking to get a point off us home and away, and be mighty pleased when they do. Dont be influenced by the negative commentary you get from 'certain' radio stations! I listen to it most weeks and we sound fairly average. I've been to the last two games, and seen a City side that can play a bit, pass the ball well - some of the diagonals yesterday were amazing - and play with pace. Lloyd Dyer (I'm not a big fan of his) was really good yesterday, tied Twattock in knots second half. NP has obviously told Lloyd to get back to what he did in Div 1, take his fullback on and skin him. And JB was good too. I was surprised he was taken off, personally I would have taken that useless lump Nugent off - which is why NP is a football manager, and I'll be doing IT support again tomorrow morning!! Becks has undoubted skill, and now we're not using him as a battering ram front man, but letting him drop off the centre backs, receive the ball and run at them, we are starting to see the best of him.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Can't find any thread yet, dunno if there will be one but massively shocked about Gary Speed RIP
Karljohn Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Nearly smashed my radio to pieces yesterday in a fit of rage during the moan in, first text "you can tell pearsons back zzzzzzz" second call "is NP the man? I dont think so" jesus H christ 2 games, 4 points! god help him if we lose to Blackpool it will be Pearson out. Couldnt believe the guy who rang up and said Gallaghers 2 goals were effectively flukes and we should have only beat Palace 1-0, Kasper had to make a great save. Does anyone honestly think we would have levelled under Sven after going behind yesterday?

ithuriel Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Having watched Sven's Leicester quite a few time's i alway's got the impression if we went a goal down it was all over and three point's to the opposition. Nigel's Leicester may not initially take off like Sven's but it will have more staying power from what i saw from Nigel's first stint with us.

foxaholic Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I disagree with this sentiment. By your logic, a good striker is always good and isn't allowed to have a poor run of form. I think all players have their ups and downs. He's shown form before, he can do again. He hasnt shown any form for usat all .Varies between mediocre and rubbish I have been following for 50 years and cant recall a worst performance or disinterest than at West Ham

Just want to back this up a bit. I know a lot of posters see the team most weeks, but I really wonder if you're "too close" to it, if you know what I mean, and at times too quick to moan. My sister and her boyfriend went to the game (they live in Portsmouth). They're both in their 50's and he's a die hard West Ham fan. She's phoned me today and said how good they both thought the City were yesterday, and should have won. He was surprised by how much good, passing, on the ground football we played. She had a great day, stayed behind for 1 hour to get her shirt signed by the City players(.... yeh, I know, bless.....) and especially thought SH is a lovely bloke. Just give a Pearson a fair chance. He has a better squad than 18 months ago, more money to spend and clearly is a focused, strict and determined manager. She also said the City support was great and out sung Porstmouth. Cheer up you moaners!
Dan Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I'm not trying to be negative but I genuinely don't think we played that well, we were alright but nothing special.
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 One for 'Spiderpig'... It sounds like we played ok yesterday Not good Nor bad Just ok I think a draw at Pompey ain't a bad result Bring on Tues...
SMX11 Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 We very rarely played well under Sven, in fact I found his type of football boring for the most part. NP will turn us around and I am sure he will get us into the play offs thus year. Just hope we have better luckk than last time round.
steveherbe Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I'm not trying to be negative but I genuinely don't think we played that well, we were alright but nothing special. Dan mate, me and you just dont get on do we! Oh well, thats the best of these forums, differing opinions.
