davieG Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 OS Leicester City will give an early Christmas gift to its family supporters next week, with a Winter Wonderland set to be unveiled for the home game against Peterborough United on Saturday 10 December. As the build-up to the festive season gets firmly underway on the pitch with the visit of local rivals the Posh, the Foxes will be celebrating 'the most wonderful time of the year' with a host of free family attractions at King Power Stadium before kick-off at 3.00pm. Building on the success of the Fan Village held at the summer fixture against Real Madrid, the Winter Wonderland will bring together City fans of all ages for a festive family occasion not to be missed, with some fantastic entertainment providing the perfect accompaniment to an exciting afternoon of npower Championship football. Getting underway at midday, with free admission to supporters attending the match, the afternoon's attractions include something for the entire family, including an artificial ice-skating rink, Father Christmas with live reindeer, a giant snow-globe with photo opportunities and carol singing with a choir and brass band. Pre-match entertainment, all of which is free to those attending the game, will run from midday until 2.45pm, giving supporters the chance to take their seats in plenty of time for kick-off at 3.00pm. The full list of confirmed attractions includes: - Artificial ice skating rink - Father Christmas with live reindeer - Kids sleigh ride - Choir with brass band - Giant snow-globe - Dodgems - Fun house - Mirror maze - Christmas-themed crazy golf The Club will also use the fixture to show its support for the FA's Respect campaign, with around 1,000 children from local youth football teams involved in activities pre-match and at half-time, further adding to the family flavour of the afternoon. The Winter Wonderland builds on the success of the Fan Village at the Real Madrid game - a huge hit with fans. The day promises to provide the perfect start to the festive season for the Foxes faithful, whose side also host Ipswich Town and Portsmouth over the Christmas and New Year period. Leicester City Chief Executive Officer Susan Whelan said: "The Fan Village we hosted at King Power Stadium in the summer was a wonderful celebration of Leicester City's rich family atmosphere and this time of year offers us another chance to give something back to our supporters. "We understand that the festive season can be a time where people's resources are stretched, which is one of the reasons we will be offering our supporters even more for the price of their match ticket through the Winter Wonderland. "I'm sure it will be a magical occasion and a great day out for families in Leicester, Peterborough and beyond." City Season Ticket Holders will be able to purchase additional tickets for the Peterborough game at a special friends and family rate of £15 Adults, Seniors and Under-22s; £8 for Under-18s and £5 for Under-12s and Under-8s. Tickets for the match against Peterborough are on sale from the City Fanstore at King Power Stadium, from lcfcdirect.com and from the City Sales Centre on 0844 815 5000 or [email protected] All attractions subject to change in the event of adverse weather.
jonthefox Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Youve got to hand it to the thais. They know how to get the punters in.
Tielemans63 Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Youve got to hand it to the thais. They know how to get the punters in. Defo...and why not? Clubs have to do stuff like this if they don't want to be left behind. Fair play to them. **To be fair it might well be the work of the Chief Exec, Susan Whelan. I remember her saying when she got the job that gaining publicity for the club was part of her remit.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 So that was the real hold up with Nigel Pearson's negotiations, how many times he was willing to dress up as Father Christmas for the Winter Wonderland.
somebum Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Youve got to hand it to the thais. They know how to get the punters idiots in.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Fair play for giving that something extra for the kids and families. If it gets a thousand more fans in then it can only be a good thing.
C.J Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 The full list of confirmed attractions includes: - Artificial ice skating rink - Father Christmas with live reindeer - Kids sleigh ride - Choir with brass band - Giant snow-globe - Dodgems - Fun house - Mirror maze - Christmas-themed crazy golf This?? No.
Happy Fox Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 No. A unanimous NO a major mistake on the OS.
davieG Posted 30 November 2011 Author Posted 30 November 2011 Well they're certainly local and whilst they're in the same League as us they're rivals so factually correct. But of course Leicester fans don't hate them as much as Forest or Derby or Coventry so they are not real rivals are they?

davieG Posted 30 November 2011 Author Posted 30 November 2011 I think this answers the question http://www.theposhfo...5a3132dda40bade I'm sure I could show you Forest, Derby & Cov forums where they will say we're not they're rivals as I said they are factually our rivals whether you view them as that in the modern 'we must hate someone' era matters not the OS is not wrong.
Guest parky0607 Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 a good gesture from the club, gutted I'm not going to this game!

Not that they are a local rival, they are relatively local, they are a league rival, but not a local rival, that's different. I hate to sound like 'that lot' but we really don't consider them rivals.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 I prefer the Pearson wonderland. That's what I'll be going to see.

davieG Posted 30 November 2011 Author Posted 30 November 2011 "Just remember kids they're called Dodgem cars not bumper cars" To have something to dodge somebody must be trying to bump you
Thracian Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 Youve got to hand it to the thais. They know how to get the punters in. Dare I say it but at long, long last, the club seems to be buzzing both on and off the pitch.
The Doctor Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 "Just remember kids they're called Dodgem cars not bumper cars" Indeed - although it's just Dodgems, no car in the name
