Weller in Tights Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 First choice, got to be Banks and Shilton surely. Next up Gary Linekar. After that I would have Keith Weller ( a personal choice as I was a teenager in the 70's when he weaved his magic). Then of the modern era, Muzzy Izzett? or maybe Walsh doing his celebration at Wembley. JUST PLEASE DON'T LET ANYONE SUGGEST THAT FAT DRUMMER!!! WHO EVER VOTED HIM No.1 FAN????? If you want one of a supporter then Bernie. Actually, yeah, scrub all the above have Bernie. His support has been legendary for years. It's us that keep this club going through the years, let's have a supporter commemerated.
liamsm Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 With Arsenal planning to unveil three new statues to commemorate 3 of their legends (Adams, Henry, Chapman), it got me thinking who would you lot pick if you could have 3 statues dotted around the ground in honour of the chosen players? For me, it'd be Muzzy Izzet, Steve Walsh and although not in my era, Keith Weller. WHAT NO Gary Linaker
liamsm Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Steve Walsh is widely regarded as Mr Leicester City, his name and it's association with this club should live on for a very long time. Surely the Birch is known as Mr Leicester and has been with LCFC longer than anybody else
Callabinho Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 I'm baffled as to why we don't have a statue at least of Banks and Shilton, Maybe we could put the idea forwards?
Narborough_fox Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Barry Hayles, Mark de Vries and Frank Burrows.
StanSP Posted 7 December 2011 Author Posted 7 December 2011 WHAT NO Gary Linaker Personal preference. There's no right or wrong.
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Im considering leaving the forum. I can tolerate 100 pages of a Maynard transfer thread, 80 pages of Roy Keane, I can even tolerate some of our fans thinking Kasper is worth 15million.... But when someone suggests a statue of Bernie outside the stadium it might be time to give up.
liamsm Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Why would anybody want Shilton? it was him that made city get rid of Banks, he told LCFC if Banks didn't go he would, right mardy Bast*rd
Webbo Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 The fact that's there's no obvious candidate means we don't really need one.
StanSP Posted 7 December 2011 Author Posted 7 December 2011 The fact that's there's no obvious candidate means we don't really need one. And why I suggested 3
davieG Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Considering we've totally ignored Banks since he left and he's been adopted as a Stoke legend we don't deserve to consider him ours this late in the day.
citifox Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Only one player won the WORLD CUP while playing for the CITY got to be the legend thats GORDON BANKS.
MrSpaM Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Is the one near the clock tower supposed to be modeled on an ex Leicester player or is it just a random football player?
samlcfc1 Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 luigi glombard, gabor bori and peter gilbert SORTED!
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 What about the peg lady who sells programmes?
NewburyFox Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 I like all the Lineker links, Walkers, Leicester City etc, but the guy played around 200 games for us over 7 or 8 years. Does that really warrant a statue over Arthur Chandler who played around 400 games for the club over 12 years and is the club's leading goalscorer? Just a thought.
Fifties Blue Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Gordon Banks - The only Leicester City Player ever likely to have a World Cup winner's medal Arthur Chandler - No striker will ever again score 273 goals for City Graham Cross - No player will ever make 599 appearances
Corky Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Lineker, Banks, Izzet. Wellens's statue would be more suited to Hollywood.
NewquayFox Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Rowley, Banks, Shilton & Lineker. I saw 3 of them play for City... ;0)
The Doctor Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 While we're suggesting stupid statues: A trio of Ian Ormondroyd, Iwan Roberts & Ian Marshall
Bablemikey Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 I'd like to see a piece that captures the grace and elegance of Ormandroyd, the glorious mullet of Phil Gee, and the Romanesque beauty of Coatesworth. Surely a celebration of all the very best of LCFC.
