lcfc_forever Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Thought Pearson's comments after the game were great. He made it clear there needs to be a change in attitude in the players. Too many players signed by Sven are complacent and lack a win at all costs mentality - I don't think we won a game from a goal behind under Sven. When things went well, we looked great but lacked that desire to turn round losing positions. You can see Pearson is determined to change this and there will naturally be some disruption in the short-term, which may explain the last couple of results. I suspect at least five players will go over the next few weeks. Pantsil, Fernandes and Johnson obviously seem to have no future at the club. Look forward to seeing who he will bring in - you know it will be players hungry to prove a point, whether from lower leagues or youngsters from top Premiership sides. Pearson's drive to succeed is impressive and I'm sure we will see a different, better and more successful Leicester in January.

foxcrewman Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 C'mon guys if you remember Martin O'Neill start at Leicester half of us wanted him out (especially after the Sheff Utd home defeat) and he went about 10 games before a win. Give the man a chance in January to shake up and change the side a bit. I agree that there is a lethargy around the squad and it really concerns me he has no alternatives to the midfield we have seen repeatedly let the side down. There is the problem. But Pearson needs a fair crack at this and I think he can do it.
eternal fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 What bothers me most about our current situation is the number of fans - even on this site - who've said they've lost interest. Our managers have never had more financial backing nor a greater cmmitment to all-round excellence from any owner but what should be a time of excitement and entertainment has become a massive anti-climax. As a club we could be likened to one of those old Bell Fruit Amusement machines where we keep putting our pennies in, pulling the handle to spin the wheels but, no matter how many times we try we can't hit the jackpot. In fact we're not even getting two matching fruits out of three very often. There are so many basic requirements for a successful team ... inspiring manager, complimentary players, organisation, fitness and incredible team spirit. I don't know that we've got more than one out of five. Is Beckford a flop? Is Mills a liability? Is Wellens more past it than month-old milk? You can argue all day. But what I do know is that we've got no partnerships. Beckford/Nugent; King/Wellens; Bamba/Sean St Leger, Peltier/Gallagher...it's all like trying to mix oil with water. Hopeless! It's as if we've been let loose in a supermarket to buy ingredients for a feast and not given the slightest thought to blending those ingredients together. Now we're at another terminus. For the umpteenth time on the same journey it's "all change". Trouble is we know the destination but no-one seems to have any idea about how to get there. Well, my lads a chef. He doesn't need to spend fortunes. He can spend a pittance choosing precisely the right items to make any dish tantalise the tastebuds. And so it is with footballers. What matters is that not the value of the signings but that the manager can make all those signings blend together so that the finished product is something to behold. That means having partnerships everywhere which compliment one another. It means having a group of people who instinctively move and operate in tandem - all for one and one for all - never doubting their ability to overcome any obstacle and never leaving one of their own without assistance. We've got a big squad but very few performers who can say they've consistently done themselves justice and that is the biggest condemnation of our management - Sven, Pearson and even others before them. We've signed people like Fernandes, Danns and Johnson for no apparent reason judging by either their performances or involvement. Bulgarian international Tunchev helped Palace to heights I'd doubt they imagined this season but has become the forgotten man at Leicester. Schlupp, from being a promising scorer, has been all but sidelined and all this while the team has gone backwards rather than forwards through perhaps trying to do the right things but with the wrong blend. What City fans need is some intent and that won't come if we continue the flawed tactic of trying to beg wins by sitting back whenever we get in front. Consistency will come with an all-round sense of purpose and a determination to score the goals each season which will give us the chance of achieving our aims. That means applying pressure, pressure, pressure for as much of the game as we possibly can. Sitting back just takes the urgency and excitement out of our play and that's the last thing we need. Winning football is first and foremost about attitude. I agree with most you say, the players have lost confidance, the fans have have lost heart, the owners disappointed, where do we go from here? well let kp do his work, he will have to change sven"s name players for players with more desire, something to prove, this season has gone, he has a lot to do.
accessory Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 The players Sven brought in are only part of the problem - although Schmeichel, Peltier, Konchesky and Nugent are decent buys and should be retained until the end of the season at least. But the old guard are the real issue with the team. Unless and until they are driven out of the club there is no prospect whatsoever of improvement. They form a cancer which needs to eradicated in its entirety.
ozleicester Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 NGP - 28% SGE - 43% PS - 33% And... and...., we are playing SH1T football
MC Prussian Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Should've stuck to Sven, but hey - a portion of the fans got what they wanted, without realizing that it wasn't the manager who was at fault, but a section of the players. Players who couldn't care less about sportive success, established players who were all too comfortable within the safety zone of their contract (extensions). This is what we as fans got in return - close to nothing. A lot of huffing and puffing, and that under Nigel "Late Subs" Pearson. What started out with potential, has turned into one giant mess. Sacrificing long-term success over short-term achievements - Leicester City FC.

It's not our fault he wasn't assertive enough to do so, or that he blew millions on panic buys like Mills and Beckford.
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I would have thought Billy Davies would have been the best option maybe not everyones cup of tea but certainly knows how to get out of this division.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 January 2012 - the month that will make or break our season, good luck NP
THEFATBASTARD Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 If Pearson is the answer ,whats the fooking question?
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 January 2012 - the month that will make or break our season, good luck NP Very defining period get this wrong and I fear NP's job is on the line.
Corky Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I would have thought Billy Davies would have been the best option maybe not everyones cup of tea but certainly knows how to get out of this division. Tried with three clubs, managed it once. He is a good manager but not a promotion expert.
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Tried with three clubs, managed it once. He is a good manager but not a promotion expert. Neither is NP from this league. Not really that many candidates that stand out other than MON but it wasn't to be.

If Sven's midfielders were a model of class and consistency then they'd have displaced players like King and Wellens (who Sven himself picked) before Pearson even returned. If you think this squad has any potential you are deluded. In it's current from Martin O'Neill would struggle to do anything with it. And guess who built it.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Pearson is showing all the ability I expected. One big nothing! He is totally clueless, and cannot motivate his players. The Board have got what they deserved.
Fox1651 Posted 27 December 2011 Author Posted 27 December 2011 I wasnt very happy when i started this thread, however as others have said January is an important month, and i really hope NP rams my bottle half empty comments down my throat come the end of the season. Although i somehow doubt we will finish any higher than mid-table :xmassad:
dog_4 Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 definately! the football and results were shit before under sven is well! the squads not changed so i don't expect the results to change! Be patient everyone, Hull were shit at the start of the season losing against teams like macclesfield in the cup and near the bottom of the league! Its all about time and patience! I go every home game and i'm has frustrated has anyone! but with steve walsh has a talent spotter, we'll be fine!
Dan Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 He's not a short-term answer and I think we all knew this due to how picky he is with his signings (which is a good thing based on his record here). But he's definitely a long-term one, he's been handed a great budget, they've proven in the past how impressive their knowledge of the lower leagues/Prem youngsters is, last time people don't remember it was HIS team from the start and this year it's Sven's. I think it'd take a miracle worker for us to be on good form with this squad. Long-term answer, it makes you wonder what his youngster signings would end up like in 5 years should he stay with them.
Happy Fox Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Pearson will be gone come the end of the season, the owners have a short term look they demand promotion.

If we finish 8th, should we get rid of NP? Or give him another season, with pre-season etc to get things right? I tend to agree with your post, i think the owners have dug deep in their pockets and probably expect alot better than they are getting currently. I do think January is key though, a couple of clever signings etc and our results will pick up in the second half of the season and then you never know? Im hoping NP gets it right

It's not our fault he wasn't assertive enough to do so, or that he blew millions on panic buys like Mills and Beckford. Your so right this is svens fault he should have smashed the clique. So we end up with the hard man NP (he won't stand no shite from em) Richie you look tired old chap you take an extra day off each week. Yet we are told sven lost the dressing room cos he was telling the old fvcker he had to move closer. I was fully behind NP till that news about wellens broke. Now he can fvck right off. STAND NO SHITE HO HO HO what a fvcking joke. Would rather they start with 10 men than use the fat tired lump.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Blame the board for NP appointment, i have never been an admirer of NPs football and i did not particular want him back,it would have been M.Hughes or A.Curbishly for me. So step forward the selection board. Top - knows more about cameras than football. S.Whelen- expert on supermarkets. A.Neville- aint got a clue about f--k all
