This game runs really quick for me this year! Games good, bit too messy in places and the back button is really irritating! Oh well.

Normally choose Leic to start of with but bit bored of that so picked Watford.

Done similar to you Dan; 442 with Fernandes and King in centre mid and Nugent and Beckford up front. Only one difference; instead of Chamberlain I bought Hogan Ephraim from QPR, cos he tore me a new one in a friendly match. Done sod all for me.

Beckford is superb at Target Man, played to feet, and Gelson is a beast in midfield. Lloyd was superb until he got injured for 7 weeks.

On the whole, cracking game. Agreed that the back button is annoying, as is the fact you can't drag and drop players into a new position. But overall a cracking game.

Another thing I've noticed (as with a lot of pre-patch FM saves) is that I'm conceding and unholy amount of 30, 35 and even 40 yarders. Without Chris Weale in goal. It probably just sounds like I'm being bitter but I'd say they account for 1 in every 3 I concede. Not happy about that at all, which is probably not helping me to deal with losing 4 of my last 8 in the league. Slide.

Bought him too - Doing well for me.

Vassell is ripping teams apart for me. Beckford not so much, might try him as a target man as you suggest and see how I get on.

Dyer doing very well for me.

Managed to get Federico Macheda on loan from Man Utd - who are also my parent club.

Signed Ben Amos from Man Utd too, decent cover - sold Weale.

Signed Sean Davies.

Sold Gally.

Also using Schlupp and the Peruvian lad too.

FM games always have a ridiculous amount of long range screamers and own goals, tbh.

I've seen about seven or eight own goals so far and I'm in November of the first season at the moment. How many have we seen in games so far this season in real life? I can't remember one.

I had two games with two each for fucks sakes!!

This happens to me almost all the time.

They score a 35 yard screamer and every time it happens to be said players first ever goal for the club, happened to me about 6 times.

this FM11 I'm on about but I gather the same still applies on this game.

I still think the realism of the scores is brilliant.

I mean lets be honest - Man Utd 1-6 Man City. It happened IRL, if people saw it happen on FM they'd call it unrealistic. Real life does have its shocks too.

Ilkeston; I'm playing a short passing game so using Beckford as a target man, playing to feet, might only work with that. Otherwise, where the hell are you playing Ephraim?? Right mid? He's having a shocker for me. On Dan's advice I just signed AO Chamberlain on loan; scored on his debut against Derby. Good lad!

Hmm, I'm not sure, but I'm certainly noticing it more on this one than I have previously and it really riles me when I'm burying a team but than useless footballers like Sam Togwell consistently pop up 35 yards out and somehow find the top-corner.

That said, I'm enjoying having to battle against my teams' complacency and inconsistency this time around. It was too easy to avoid that on previous versions but after getting 15 points clear at one stage, I've hit the dreaded rough patch and am now only a point above West Ham and 4 above Blackpool, with games against both to come. At least I took my revenge on Forest (5-2) and Southampton (3-1). Wankers.

9 points clear in January (with Leicester). Signed the odd loan here and there but on a permanent : Mario Fernandes, Jack Collison, Marco Verratti and Guillermo Burdisso, all of whom have been fantastic and will do a job in the Prem. :)

Really tempted to get this, but still not keen on steam following the FM09 fiasco + problems setting it to offline (although with wireless set up at uni and at home that isn't really an issue anymore).

Any problems with steam so far?

the inconstiencty is driving me mad, had a run of 5 games won on the trot and go to bristol city away and get spanked 4-0!!!

Leicester 4-1 Middlesbrough, Palace 0-3 Leicester.

So far.

It should not be this easy. I've only made two bloody signings and one of them still can't even play. lol

Shouts aren't new, they were in FM11 too :dunno: As for the attributes instead of profile, I noticed you could change that in one of the settings pages

How do you change it? Which settings page?

I'm an absolute retard when it comes to things like this, absolutely clueless.

Fourth post on the spin. lol

Just played a few more. Some bizarre events.

Leicester 2-1 Hull. Absolute domination, how we only won 2-1 is beyond me, we had nearly 30 shots, their goal was also massively offside.

Watford 1-2 Leicester; Pretty comfortable.

Leicester 3-1 Swindon AET; Forgot to mention a repeat draw of Rotherham in the round before, which was won 0-2 due to funnily enough a Schlupp brace (both superb goals). This actually finished 0-0, poor game. Extra time burst into life but I received an absolute joke of a red card. Kasper Schmeichel - just after we went 2 up (about 117 mins) apparently handles it just outside the area as the ball bounces to him. Straight red. How the hell did they figure that? It's surely only a yellow? It wasn't going in, if he'd left it it would've never had the power to even bounce in. A red for that lol jesus. Making matters worse, Mills goes in goal for the free-kick, the wall is in the middle of absolutely nowhere and Risser just drills it with the whole of our team static, 2-1. Thankfully we ran up and made it 3 from kick-off. Wasn't even able to appeal - well I was but it'd be the usual shite, Faz reckons the ref got it right. Handed a home tie with Hull in the third round. Hope for another 30 shots.

Leicester 0-0 Leeds; Strangest game ever. Weale plays, gets man of the match following Andy Keogh's constant desire to try screamers. Like fvck would Weale have saved them lol would've been 0-4 in real life, literally. Dyer/Beckford both injured early on.

I also signed Marco Verratti, couldn't resist. £1.8mil. Pretty average so far.

Happy though, top of the league by a point ahead of Reading. Who for the record have won their league cup games 0-6 at Wycombe and even more hilariously in the first round, 0-10 at Aldershot. lol Kebe got 6.

Verratti's been immense for me, so far. His attributes have grown nicely with exposure to first team football, too.

Shame about his finishing but then, to be fair, he's scored about eight goals by mid November so he's doing alright. I'm playing him at AMC as a Trequartista, despite comparisons to Pirlo, as I don't really deploy a deep-lying playmaker in my tactics (my DMC is more of a sweeper for my attack, sitting as an anchor to pick up loose balls and lay them off to someone better qualified to push forward, a la Yuki Abe.)

Ok, so just finished the first season with city, been lying in 2nd since xmas; west sham being top dogs. However a 12 game unbeaten stint sees me challenging. Touch and go with only a point in it heading fo april, burnley in 3rd only few points behind.

Comes down to the last game of the season where im facing the sheep. 0-0 till mills pops up with a proper scrambled goal. I litteral scream waking the girlrriend up; west ham loose too so i go up as first.

Turns out i am given 22 million to avoid the drop, but christ no one is interested in coming. Managed to get drenthe and hargreaves on free's and lacina triore for 7mill. Tis all lol.

Nugent struggled in the champ for me, but gally and beckforf were immense. Gally deep lying forward and beckford poacher using the good ol 4 4 2

Never had any problems with steam. can understand peoples frustration with not being able to share a copy but 30 (or less if you wait a few weeks) is not that much for the amount of time you can spend on the game. me, i'll not be buying it as i simply don't have enough time to invest. I'll make do with the ipad version.

remember ricey is not on this forum in an official capacity or to be a spokesman for the company, and must get irked by some of the shit thrown his way. however, mr ricey if you know when the new ipad version is out i'm all ears thank you please

You know how I said I wouldn't be buying it? Er, caved in and is downloading now! Had a few quid left in my PayPal account so here we go again! I am so weak......

Flying high at the top of the league with Leicester after 9 games. Hit some bad form so made 9 unorthodox changes to the team and haven't lost since. Team is:

Schmeichel

Paintsil - Peltier - Tunchev - Berner

Abe - Fernandes - Johnson

Gallagher

Dyer - Schlupp

Llyod Dyer is surprisingly good up front because of his pace.

I've signed myself, obviously, but have so far resisted playing myself due to my god awful stats.

Yes mate playing him right mid. I switch between him and Abe because I've yet to sign an out and out right mid.

The inconsistancy thing is killing me too. I got knocked out of the league cup by Crewe, losing 5-4 on penalties.

I got knocked out of the FA Cup by Rochdale who spanked us 2-0 and I mean played us off the park.

On the subject of long range shots - has anyone noticed that while there seem to be an abundance of them finding their way into the back of your net that when you do it they don't even come close!!!

I've scored 1 long range shot so far - Andy King 25 yards. (won goal of the month too  ) But I must have conceded at least 8 long range shots so far.

Ended up cruising the Championship having gone on another masterful run from the end of February (a 0-1 defeat at home to Peterborough) onwards. Finished on 103 points, scored 115 and conceded 57 (6th best defence in the league). Really, really need to sign defenders for the Prem, though I am pleased with CB/RB Marc Bartra (21 apps, 1 goal, 3 assists & 7.16 average since joining in Jan).

Paul Gallagher was Championship Player of the Month for February, March & April (18 apps, 11 goals). Beast.

Promotion race finished:

Leic (me) - 103

West Ham - 93

---------------------

Blackpool - 80

Pompey - 78

Burnley - 77

Birmingham - 73

----------------------

Ipswich - 72

Reading - 71

P'boro - 71

Relegated:

Hull - 43

Millwall - 40

Coventry - 37

Nice to see Cov relegated  Might have a look at that RB. Did you play him there or at CB? Is it just me or is Pantsil gash on this game?

I know I'm only 7 games in but I've literally not yet conceded a long range goal. In-fact, in one game against Leeds as stated, Weale saved them all. lol lol lol

Verratti I couldn't resist, he's not cost me loads either I just demoted a couple of the current midfielders to reserves, Gelson/King as a pairing are absolutely superb at winning the ball back it's actually unreal, I don't know where Verratti comes in to it, he's been back up so far as he can occupy basically every single role in the middle, so I'll generally bring him on if either of them is tired.

It's amazing how well this formation seems to work, it's so simple yet so effective. I just pin the back 4 all as defensive, one of the midfielders as defensive, one to be everywhere and the wingers/forwards to rip them apart. It's actually a pretty defensive formation yet still brings us a lot of goals, probably keep it for many years.

If I do go up I have no idea where the hell I'll strengthen, would need a clear-out first. So far I don't see why Bamba/SSL/Mills/Tunchev would need replacing, Peltier/Pantsil probably won't be strong enough nor will Lumb/Konchesky. In the centre I think we'll need a dominant defensive mid, Gelson won't hack it, King may do in time. Dyer I genuinely wonder if he'd do it, he's so fast he just seems indefendable, a rapid right winger will do for us too. Probably add another forward to our current ones too.

Too early to say anyway, everyone claims they've hit a bad patch, so mine will come eventually.
