dannythefox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Testing the water, seeing if Sharps head will turn. This is what I've said.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Zamora will NOT come to us some people need to get real! Wouldnt want him anyway
bluearmyfox23 Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 You fell real you would not want Zamora in the championship? He can score, is mobile, good in the air and is amazing at holding the ball up he would be a perfect target man !!
Horibbly Wrong Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 It is a £3m offer, £1.85m up front the rest in add-ons. The release clause is only activated when £3m is bid up front
FoxTrott Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Can't see us getting Sharp at all. All just agent hype I'm sure to try and get a better deal for Sharp. West Ham want him just as much as we do and look like a much safer move with Premiership football pretty much guaranteed next season. We might be able to offer him high wages, but I really think West Ham have a much better pulling factor - probably similar wages as well. Being unbiased, I know where I'd rather be. Would rather us get a quality playmaker in the middle to play alongside Danns and a winger anyway if I'm honest. As much as I love Sharp, I think we have enough strikers in Nugent, Beckford, Schlupp (maybe), Waghorn coming back.

FoxTrott Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Location is a key in this situation though... Is it, how do we know this (genuine question, not being sarky or anything)? West Ham is only an hour and a half away from Sheffield and where the players live even less so. Is this going to be a genuine factor? Don't see so myself.

On what planet is east London an hour and a half from Sheffield?! It's about 200 miles, 3 hours without traffic!
FoxTrott Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 On what planet is east London an hour and a half from Sheffield?! It's about 200 miles, 3 hours without traffic! Okay massive exaggeration for maximum impact, I'm a dick etc. etc. It's more like 3 hours. But still, I'd like to know about the location factor. I'm sure he could make it work if he wanted to play Prem football next season.
stourbridgefox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 He could fly from Doncaster to London City everyday. How long would that take? Be a lot of hassle though. But who's to say West Ham will be the other club to go up?

Nobody knows for sure but reports have said he isnt interested in West Ham as he does not want to uproot his family so soon after the loss of his little boy. Hence why the Dull fans are wetting themselves with excitement

Hence why the Dull fans are wetting themselves with excitement Hmm. Interesting, gives us some hope then. But again, could be another agent ploy to hike up his price tag. Don't get me wrong, would be great to have him here, but can't see how we can have Nugent/Beckford/Sharp/Schlupp/Waggy (not so much) and keep them all happy. He could fly from Doncaster to London City everyday. How long would that take? Be a lot of hassle though. But who's to say West Ham will be the other club to go up? If I were to bet on the end of season, I'd probably bet West Ham to go up first. Big squad which they are looking to increase, massive financial backing, big club. Can't see them finishing outside the top two with their quality who have been together for a while and work well together.
Libertine Dream Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Im struggling to understand this location regarding. Now depending on area of Sheffield he is in , Leicester is roughly the same time wise and arguably easier to get to.

What people are saying is that he wants to stay closer to Sheffield - and this is why he would hypothetically pick Leicester over West Ham.
Raw Dykes Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Why on earth would they do that? Good point. Why on earth would Doncaster want to be £2m better off at the beginning of a transfer window when they're in danger of relegation? I don't know what I was thinking.

I understand that but whay are Dull.claimijg he prefers them for location, unless I misunderstood. Regarding the mail article, hope it comes true, would be excellent. Shame it wouldn't be sorted for Saturday.

Regarding the mail article, hope it comes true, would be excellent. Shame it wouldn't be sorted for Saturday. I think the commute from Sheffield to the west side of Hull (where the Stadium and training ground are) is shorter, quicker and easier than the commute from Sheffield to South Leicester (especially, as is likely, if he lives on the east / Doncaster / Scunthorpe side of Sheffield). We can guess how important it is to be near his family at the moment and I would imagine less time away, on a daily basis, could be significant. Still, Leicester isn't TOO far and he wouldn't have to completely 'up sticks' - unlike moves to West Ham, Southampton etc

stourbridgefox Posted 4 January 2012 Posted 4 January 2012 I used to live in the Borough of Rotherham quite close to J31. The commute to Leicester was achievable in under and hour if the going was good but in rush hour it was more like 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. I didn't used to go to Hull but I used to go to the seaside at Cleethorpes which took just under an hour and is about the same distance down the M18 as Hull would be from Sheffield. Hull is definitely the easiest to get to if that is all he is interested in.

stourbridgefox Posted 4 January 2012 Posted 4 January 2012 It's not actually. I can't remember the road name but there is a motorway or as good as which goes up the north side of the Humber Estuary which you can get on at Doncaster. You also don't have Nottingham, Derby and the M24 Junction to get past at rush hour which is always a major pain. Hull is quicker than Leicester from Sheffield but not so much quicker to make Hull a dead cert I wouldn't think.
