Austin Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Great article! Everyone should waste 5 seconds reading it! Would be a good addition if true.
Yojoe36 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 If true, Beckford's gone. I've always rated this guy, so I'd love him here

Liamlcfc1 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/292229/Nigel-Pearson-s-Billy-Sharp-bid NIGEL PEARSON has bid £3million for Doncaster striker Billy Sharp. Leicester boss Pearson is at the front of the queue for Sharp after activating a sell-on clause in his contract. Pearson is ready for a substantial shake-up of his faltering squad and wants to beat Southampton and Ipswich in the chase to sign Sharp. The 25-year-old scored twice against Leicester in Doncaster’s 2-1 win this month and can leave the Keepmoat Stadium for £3m. Big-spending Leicester have made their first move and are expected to hold talks with Sharp when the window opens on Sunday. Southampton and Ipswich could match their bid but Leicester are set to offer him at least £20,000 a week. Pearson said: “We are going to try to get players who are better than what we have got. For the most part we are going to try and shop in the right market – the January window is a difficult window to operate in. We are going to try to get players who are better than what we have got. For the most part we are going to try and shop in the right market – the January window is a difficult window to operate in Nigel Pearson “You are usually working with inflated prices. It is not really a buyers’ market. It is the opposite to the summer sales. “The business we do we will try to do as sensibly as possible. We are not going to be held to ransom.” Pearson is also keen to sign Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard and raid his old club Hull for midfielders Cameron Stewart and Robert Koren.
Yojoe36 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Back that statement up ! rated him since when and please tell us about his career. 53 goals in 82 apps for Scunny 39 goals in 70 something apps for Donny Do you ever watch him play? HE ACTUALLY FVCKING WORKS However, he has his flaws, and I'm not sure about a Sharp-Nugent partnership. But I could be wrong Also, I can see people saying in a few months time "He's a league 1 player"
Leicester_Loyal Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Hes scored loads of goals while playing in pretty shit teams too.
bluearmy7 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Hes scored loads of goals while playing in pretty shit teams too. should do well with us then
Happy Fox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Even the merc are in the act now I think it is fair to say that we have bid £3m for him or are going to bid £3m http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/story-14259501-detail/story.html? Leicester City are making a bid of at least £3million for Doncaster striker Billy Sharp, the Leicester Mercury understands. City have identified the 25-year-old forward as one of their prime targets as they look to strengthen their promotion push during the January transfer window. Billy Sharp Sharp's contract with Doncaster, which runs until 2013, includes a clause which allows him to speak to other clubs as long as £3m is offered when the January transfer window opens on Sunday. City, however, will face competition to land Sharp from Premier League Wigan and Championship rivals Burnley and Cardiff.
Ric Flair Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 To be fair, he is a superb player at this level. Whether this means Beckford is off or Schlupp goes out on loan i'm not sure, but we need his goals. Nugent and Sharp together?

Fox92 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Personally don't want him, especially for £3million. Why? He scored a lot of goals in poor teams at Scunthorpe and Doncaster, but did he score a lot of goals in a good Sheffield United team? No, in fact, he scored 12 goals in 62 games at Sheffield United (the second time around). Also, Doncaster play nice football on the ground and we play a more direct game. He will not get that many chances whilst we play that direct, and he will just end up like Beckford and Nugent and feeding off of scraps basically. He is a nice guy, because I have met him, and he has scored a lot of goals at Doncaster but I don't think he is any better than Nugent or Beckford, and I think if we were going to spend £££ on a striker, it needs to be a target man.

Money is no object to us so it doesn't really matter but I see your point Billy Sharp is a carbon copy of David Nugent, we ideally need a target man i.e Jelavic (he may be out of our reach)

If he scored plenty in a poor Doncaster & Scunthorpe team then he'll do fine here as he'll be playing for a poor Leicester team.
MGLCFC Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Sharp would be a good addition as well as 2 wingers (Kebe, Commons, Ward and Steawrt have been mentioned) and a midfielder who can win the ball (I see Pratley isn't playing much football at Bolton, or try for Paul Pogba on loan from Man U) Otherwise push Bamba into midfield and bring Tunchev back alongside Mills. Perhaps buy Maynard as well, sell Beckford, play Nugent wide on the left. Midfield is the real problem as it's far too lightweight and to say they are supposed to be creative players, actual create very little. Dyer was awful against Ipswich, for a supposedly pacy winger, he never once tried to get past his man. If he can't play like a winger, you may as well play a stronger tackler like Danns or Fernandes out there.
cc_star Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Wish we'd have got him in the summer, but it seemed below the club, perhaps we'd have been interested if he was on a Premier Lg team's bench, rather than banging them in on a regular basis
Number 6 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Great player so certainly would be happy. Think we should go for someone like Jason Roberts though.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Yep... Said this weeks ago Sharp can get a goal out of nothing... He appears to have a great attitude His goal tally this season is good... He would be joining a bigger club with a point to prove And yes, we do need him The strike pairing we have at present are not playing together Nuge is good stuff.. Despite the 'lack of supply' he's been scoring goals. Beckfords goal return is simply too low for a supposed 'top striker'
Tielemans63 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Still think we need a target man. Me too, and as much as people will take the piss, I'd love to see Emile Heskey back at the club.
AjcW Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Do you reckon Billy will be up for up routing his family and causing more stress so soon after his tragedy? I would of thought he would just be happy to see out the season and consider things then. Still would be a good signing if we managed it though
whitlock Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Might not need to move, as far as I know, Wellens, Gally and Kennedy all commute from up norffff'
Guest ttfn Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Might not need to move, as far as I know, Wellens, Gally and Kennedy all commute from up norffff' Which was supposedly one thing Sven tried to resolve. The players didn't like it and he got fired. As for Sharp, I see him more as a Fryatt character than a Nugent. Quicker in mind than in foot and with a good touch. I'd love to see him here.
kingfox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 We need him simple as that, we can't cope with Nugent and Beckford up front and Howard and Schlupp are not general goalscorers. One of Sharp, Maynard or Rhodes must come in, don't care which because they are all very good players. People didn't want Sharp at the beginning of the season, but the he just keeps making a name for himself some of the goals he scores are up there with the very best.
