Ben Marshall winger from Stoke City

The ginger winger seems to rate him ?

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson is struggling in his attempts to sign Stoke winger Ben Marshall.

The 20-year-old has been a success since arriving at Hillsborough on loan in August and is due to return to Stoke on January 15.

Megson is keen to keep Marshall either on loan or in a permanent deal but negotiations have stalled and Stoke have prevented Marshall from playing in Sunday's FA Cup third round tie with West Ham.

"At the moment, the negotiations have not gone brilliantly and Ben hasn't been given permission to play against West Ham because of that. As it stands, Marshall will go back on January 15 unless something changes," Megson told the Yorkshire Post.

"Hopefully, we can still get Ben sorted but there is more than one way to skin a cat. We might be able to try and buy him. That might be an option.

"There will be nobody more pleased than me if we can get Marshy to Sheffield Wednesday whatever the circumstances. If we can't, we will have to get someone else in or one of this lot will have to see what Ben has been doing and try and replicate it."

Since when has Megson been a winger

Maybe we should sign him :D

not sure if hes right or left winger (in stoke os listed as striker)

He's mainly a right winger - though can also play as a central striker. I got the info off the Stoke City news page, when they signed him from Crewe (he started his career there, before moving to the Stoke Youth Team - at 18). I'm not sure where all this Man Utd talk came from - according to the Stoke news page, he was at Crewe from the age of 16 (though was born in Salford, so I suppose could have been a school player with United)

Later edit: Just been talking to a neighbour, who's a Carlisle United fan - who said that Marshall was, "fantastic for them, in the 50-odd appearances he made - scored 6 goals - played mainly on the right wing, occasionally up front in the middle, but a couple of times on the left wing". Apparently, he had 2 spells with Carlisle - in 2010 and last season - and last year helped them to the 'Football League Cup' Final against Brentford (Johnstones Paint Trophy ?). He got crocked after 20 minutes or so (by some guy called Adam Reed) and was carried off with a broken leg. My neighbour reckons he was so important, that they just fell to pieces after he went off ("we would have won with him playing !"). Seems like he's come back OK from the broken leg though - playing well for Sheff Wed, by all accounts.

My Stoke supporting mate, knows Ben. Stoke have offered him a contract and Ben's not a fan of the terms. He is still currently on a type of youth contract and Stoke havent really made any better advances in his wages, so he is on the look out for a 'proper' contract.

Bit of useless info.

Scored a great goal against huddersfield if i recall correctly in the 4-4draw. I was impressed with him that game. a bit of pace as well. not lightening mind.
