The People's Hero Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 I got 2 West Ham flyers <_< What's wrong with the occasional promotion and distrubution of marketing products, it creates more income and may increase the fan base slightly. Nowt wrong with that. I think if you were slightly less defensive and slightly more able/inclined to read and understand my post, you might realise that I don't think there is anything wrong with that per se, but that it does rather piss on your assertion that Charlton are a big club. You're like the quite ugly, but not hideous girl who isn't your first choice, far from it, but will give you a handjob for a bacardi breezer. Its cheap, its nasty, its soulless and its unfulfilling. Thats not to say its wrong. Leicester are ugly and expensive and equally unfulfilling. When we start sending flyers and free buses to Coventry, begging people to turn up to come and watch the opposition, I think I'll give up.
Lamby Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 The coaches were desgined to take the people who moved FROM the area TO Kent (due to a lower cost of living expenses) to the ground and back again for a flat £5 fare (now up to £7). The free tickets are given to primary school children, which infact, the schools pay for and distribute them for free..tell me you've never done a family day or such..same concept of this.

I can't believe I'm still arguing with you. Why does the club need to run those free coaches? I have no problem with them - but its clearly an attempt to lure in some of the casual crowd. Nothing wrong with that, its the sort of club Charlton is. Re: the free tickets, I'm all for schoolkids getting a freebie but come on, Charlton and Reading grounds are often about 20% full of schoolkids who don't want to be there.
The People's Hero Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 The coaches aren't free, £7 isnt ****ing free I've been offered free travel loads of times. I've also had phonecalls at home and at work from Charlton AFC and have been offered free tickets, free travel and very very cut price corporate. I do live in Maidstone, so fair enough I suppose - and I dont doubt that the coaches are sometimes charged at £7 to some people.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 I hope dons go up, just for a quick away day for me We're playing some decent stuff this year, got some really good footballing players in the squad and seem to be heading into the play-offs in decent form (For once). Hope we do well in them as we've not had the best of luck thus far. In regards to our fan-base; it'll come along eventually, season ticket sales for next season are already 5% higher. The potential's there for it to be full, we had nearly 20,000 for QPR when we were in a poor run of form, with no distinct rivalry with them. The longer we can do that and pull a few back each time the better. Still can't believe Wednesday fans don't rate Darren Potter, he's been absolutely class for us this year. Although Wednesday were a bit long ball last season, which wouldn't utilise him very well. Hopefully see you all next season!

Part Of The Crowd Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 You don't understand how bad he was for us... I think he's been equally as good for us as he was bad for you last year, I've not seen him turn in a bad performance yet.
General Smuts Posted 27 April 2012 Author Posted 27 April 2012 Possible, but I see them failing in the playoff semi's With our play off record? Have a word. If we get to the play offs we will go up. To finish 6th they have to beat United next week.. :D :D :D Which means if we win and United don't win they we're back in second! Very much hoping to do a job for you!
EcclesallOwl Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I think he's been equally as good for us as he was bad for you last year, I've not seen him turn in a bad performance yet. Fair do's. Obviously he just needed a change of scenery to get his career back on track and it seems to have worked! Only 2,000 tickets left for our last home game (next saturday), come on you foxes... you know you want to come!
General Smuts Posted 27 April 2012 Author Posted 27 April 2012 Smutsy, you not a Leicester fan at all now? I'll always be a Leicester fan. But I've completely had it with the King Power Stadium and the lack of atmosphere for 30 quid a ticket. For a tenner I can go and stand on a terrace singing and bantering with the Stevenage fans 10 minutes from my house. They are now my local team. But I'll always be a Leicester fan first and a Stevenage convert second. PAP.
Vardinhio Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 TPH you my friend are an idiot, you keep winding up Lamby and trying to get him to argue with you. He is not reacting to your baiting which itself is commendable. Why do you have a problem with a club trying to attract a larger fan base? Why does this make them less of a club? Also what is wrong with giving tickets to school kids and discounting coaches? All your points are laughable and you make yourself sound like some idiotic hard-nosed football fan who thinks the only people that should go and watch their team should live next door to the stadium, be old enough to drink ale and chant like morons whilst scoffing down on their pie. Football has changed...Charlton are a decent club and have done very well to win league 1. Also, what's wrong with Mendonca and Leaburn and who cares if in their premiership days they exploited a commercial opportunity to increase their gates. If it was up to people like you smaller clubs would never grow and you may aswell not bother getting promoted. Shame on you for being such a wind up merchant.

Corky Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Three teams crashed out of League One today (Wycombe, Chesterfield and Exeter). Wednesday win to put pressure on United, Notts County in the last play-off place.
Raw Dykes Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Three teams crashed out of League One today (Wycombe, Chesterfield and Exeter). marko Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 2-0 Stevenage. Looks like United might have to settle for the play-offs.
ScouseFox Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Waheyy. No goals for Sheff Yoo since Ched got sent down, that right?
marko Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Waheyy. No goals for Sheff Yoo since Ched got sent down, that right? Yep. Lost 1-0 MK Dons and currently 2-0 down. So, not only is poor ol' Cheddy getting torn a new a**ehole, so are Sheff Utd.
davieG Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Exeter v Sheff U Sheff W v Wycombe Sheff U get one back.
marko Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 Exeter v Sheff U Sheff W v Wycombe Sheff U get one back. They're looking threatening now. Wouldn't be surprised if they nicked it.
Vardinhio Posted 28 April 2012 Posted 28 April 2012 ... did you actually read anything he posted? Yes, throughout this thread he posts with overtones of grandeur, putting down Charlton as a small club who ships in fans that barely recognise their own players. I would dig it all out but quite frankly I have better things to do. Anyways, maybe I was a little harsh but quite frankly I didn't like it. I don't see why we should put down other clubs, ours is in far worse state.
