iamafox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 So happy for Beckford, scoring a hatrick is the best way to end his goal drought and silence his critics. Let's hope there are more goals to come from the MOTM last night.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Better than the Kop's effort of just singing his name in the tune of Leicester, Leicester... when he went off though. really?
Leicester Lass Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 really? Unfortunately, yes. Awful. Same goes for their so called Schmeichel 'chant'.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 People always criticise his lack of effort - he's not a grafting goal-scoring legend like Linaker was. Weird how no one ever questioned his pashhhhhuuuuuun! As others have said, he needs the right kind of service, which he got today.
Happy Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 There is only one way Jermaine can go now and it isn't down, that hattrick will do him the world of confidence still think he can score up to 20 goals this season.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Unfortunately, yes. Awful. Same goes for their so called Schmeichel 'chant'. go on...
Bugg Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Fantastic Performance from Beckford last night. Hopefully some will lay off him for a while. I'll lay off Wellens for a bit as part of the deal too, was very good last night
Simo86 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 This is my stamp of approval. I want to be posting this picture on a regular basis from now on. you need to photoshop it so it has the City badge on it
Darkon84 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 After all the slating he has got, its good to see 5 pages (thus far) praising him. Though like many have stated before, and today, he needs decent service. Last night, he got that and gave us a glimpse at what he can really do. I hope he pushes on from here and shows the boo-boys what hes all about. I watched the game on ESPN, but now wish Id have listened on the radio too, just to hear Alan Youngs reaction....anyone know if he was still slating Beckford?
jonlcfc1990 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 As for the chant it would help if it had a start or start it all at the same time i'm guessing when L and K are back we will finalize this he scored a Fvcking hat trick last night and all three goals show what a good striker needs 1st goal luck 2nd skill 3rd determination Well done Mr Beckford
muzzy1981 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 From last nights game it is clear that Beckford's is most effective when running on to a simple pass of flick through the middle to run onto in the box, he is obviously a great finisher. In order for us to provide these balls we have to be pushing the opposition back, which can only be achieved by the rest of the team playing well, which was evident last night. Not sure about the leaving early thing, would have been nice to have clapped his team mates off, after all they made the chances for him and being frustrated with the fans is no excuse, he would get the same treatment at most clubs having cost £3.5 and scored 2 in 19, plays in the wrong position if he doesn't expect criticism. Confidence should be up now, come on the blue boys!!
Skippy Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Has Beck's mystery illness come to light yet?....personally I reckon he may have had a bit of a turn whilst sitting on the bench after coming off. His body language (head in hands) and then dashing off to the dressing rooms early, maybe to avoid the public or media could suggest he had some kind of panic attack/nervous breakdown perhaps due to all the pressure he's been under for months to put away the goals and then low and behold it's 3 of the little beauties in one game which has tipped the poor bloke over the edge?! ...sound plausible? I don't know I'm not a head doctor but at the end of the day he's showed himself and everyone what he's capable of and the bar has been raised. I sincerely hope Jermaine has got the mental strength to follow though and be a consistently decent player as he proved today, time will tell i guess, fingers crossed.
Leicester Lass Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 go on... Can't even describe it, again it's just his name (imaginative bunch) but there is no kind of tune to it at all. Very bizarre.

Maybe it was just a 'Code Brown' moment. I'd hate to have been the cleaner in the toilet afterwards haha
Austin Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Jermaine beckford ... He scored a ****ing hat trck, past the dirty red shit, past the dirty red shit! http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=GB#/home

I watched the game on ESPN, but now wish Id have listened on the radio too, just to hear Alan Youngs reaction....anyone know if he was still slating Beckford? Firstly, he doesn't just need decent service, he has to want to put himself about like he did last night, he has to want to spin off their last man & run through, he has to want to chase lost causes, he has to want to come deep to find space, he has to want to get the ball ahead of the opposition, last night for the first time for us his all round game came together (at the same time as everyone else's and he got what his fantastic performance deserved, a hat-trick and untold praise. Secondly, Young has only criticised Beckford's workrate, effort & desire & not Beckford himself or his ability... He's showed none of those thing before last night and deserves any criticism he received

If he hadn't headed it high it would have been cleared by Moussi

He's showed none of those thing before last night and deserves any criticism he received Meeeeow . With all that criteria, I guess you werent a fan of Yakubu last season then. I'll admit, he hasnt been the revelation we all wanted him to be, lets hope this acts a platform to push on now, not just for him, but for the whole team to pull together and push on. Its tough to spin off a last man or chase lost causes when the ball has been hoofed 20 yards over your head and too far though. After a while, any player will stop making those runs, chasing the ball down, because it simply becomes a waste of time and effort.Strikers tend to be a fickle bunch that thrive on confidence, and the way we have been playing of late at times, he was never going to get that confidence up again. Last night, we got the ball down alot and actually played football, and it showed, with an all round great team display and a well deserved hat trick. As for Mr Young...the majority of times I hear him moan about Beckford, yes it does tend to be the workrate, but what annoys me, is that an hour later, he will still come back to one moment earlier on the game, just to have a pop at him, when others have made mistakes or not pulled their weight. I may have just listened on particularly bad days or something, but the way he harks back to little things, just to have a pop is tiring.
paddy Agyemang Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Keep it up jermaine superb energy last night
adam95581 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 He played really well, showed what he can do! Please don't forget how bad the trees are at the moment! Dreadful team!
El_Sieffsi Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Unfortunately, yes. Awful. Same goes for their so called Schmeichel 'chant'. Awful??..a bit harsh,it's called support..15k+ people can't spontaneously think up the same chant,so people go with something easy..also it isn't just the Kop singing it,I just wish we could ALL be as vocal EVERY GAME!!..some blame the stadium, some blame the players..but it's up to us ALL to be proud and sing loud..wherever you may sit/stand!! As for a Schmeichel chant..personally..I think something along the lines of.. "Leeds don't like him".."Rock the Kasper..Rock the Kasper" "But we all like him".."Rock the Kasper..Rock the Kasper"..to the tune of "Rock the kasbah"..by The Clash..would sound pretty good,short.. pacy and easy to remember/pick up. LTID
chili_con_carne Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Beckford whoahhhh he used to be shite, but now he is alright

It's as though the fact we haven't been creating 20 chances a game has been the direct cause of his poor control, poor finishing, poor chasing, poor effort, poor passing and poor link up play. He's had about 20 poor games and one and a half good games, and suddenly everyone who pointed out how poor he was is a "hater" and has been proven "wrong".
Raj Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 I have one thing to say before i go...Only the weak feel pressure...You joking Bro...Look waht shirt im wearing...you get me! Oh and he needs good service.....
whoareyaaa Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 If i read "he needs decent service" one more time I may cry. Bollox he had a decent run in the team and then was used as a sub many times in the last twenty minutes. The service and team performance last night was one of the better ones this season and if we continue to play like this then he will keep scoring. Dont get it twisted though he does have to put in the hard work himself by chasing down balls and defenders like he showed he is capable of last night and the goals will continue to come if the team performances like they did yesterday. Without King in midfeild we looked solid Wellens playing it simple and Danns chasing down everything.
