On a seperate note, has he ever played with Howard, I can't think of them playing up front together, he loved the flick ons from Nugent and others, imagine if he had a decent target man to play with.

Are you claiming Howard is s decent target man?

Can't believe Howard played last night, after the Palace game I'd nevr pick him again.

Luck? If he hadn't headed it high it would have been cleared by Moussi

I meant more luck that the bounce fell for him just in the sweet spot and the Moussi didn't clear it i'd say it was a lucky goal but hey it went it thats all that counts right?

Not claiming Howard is a decent target man, he does have his moments, was more just wondering if they had been up top together and whether it worked.

I think that instead of subbing off Beckford for Howard every game sub Nugent for Howard and see if we can grab a goal with a Kasper punt, Howard flick and Beckford finish.

Kermo was decent

Loved his second goal. Before he'd have taken another touch or maybe blasted it. But no, just dink it gently into the net.

So pleased for him.

That's what one goal and confidence does for you.

All the goals were well taken and executed well. In previous matches the header might off been an few inches higher and come back out of the bar.

For last night alone I can't praise him enough; not just for the goals but the way he chased down each ball. For example, the work up to our first goal was influenced by Beckford chasing down Lynch, who carried out some absurd defending, but it was Beckford's ball in which made us win that corner. I'm not trying to say that it was all Beckford, obviously not. But if he hadn't chased that ball, who knows what would have happened?

So you think he's been good then do you?

I agree he hasnt lived up to expectations no, but nethier has the whole team and the reason he is not scoring is because the service has been dire along with not starting on a regular basis or playing up top on his own... along with him not really trying but woudnt you be giving up if the service wasnt good enough week in week out.

With the above said he has still hit the woodwork on numerous occasions and been denided by some very good saves.

Clearly he knows where the net is and has the ability to score a bag of goals if given proper service. 3 seasons at leeds 138 games 84 goals.. albeit in League 1.

Jermaine Beckford scores for fun

he used to play for the leeds scum

now hes a blue thru and thru

jermaine Beckford we all love you!

:banghead: No no no.

If Service has been dire how can I have witnessed him miss a shit load of sitters, either blazing them over or swinging and missing the ball completely. The service has not been as good as last night, but he has most definitely had the chances.

Service does also not stop him chasing the ball, making runs, challenging players. It doesn't stop him from being able to control the ball and pass it off, it doesn't stop him from looking bothered.

Nugent and Sharp at Doncaster have put up with the same poor service or worse and managed to score more goals. So this excuse making needs to stop.

He has been very poor, no more no less. Last night HE changed HIS game and benefited. And yes he also benefited from more chances being created and a more confident City. But his attitude seemed different in the first couple of minute, which is why I said I thought he would score in the match thread.

I was actually going to say I think he's score 3, I really wish I had because that would have been one of the greatest calls ever. But I thought that was going a bit OTT. :D

I really hope he keeps it up and keeps his game at that level because we'll be a real handful for anyone.

People always criticise his lack of effort - he's not a grafting goal-scoring legend like Linaker was.

Weird how no one ever questioned his pashhhhhuuuuuun!

As others have said, he needs the right kind of service, which he got today.

LinEker. It's an E Trav.

Have an E-slap for that

Beckford did not want to play as he felt sick - Pearson told him to take some tablets and to get his arse out onto the pitch which the exchange of words on the touchline seems to back up

Beckford was physically sick as soon as he got back to the dressing room which explains the head in hands bit and the lack of interview

Hopefully he is sick every week
