MrSpaM Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 He actually closed players down and won the ball, that was the difference tonight. He put loads more effort in, and he was clearly loving it as well Now we just need to follow him round with a tv camera in his face every match...
Tielemans63 Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Show you give a **** and be prepared to work and most fans will give you the benefit of the doubt. Most of us want to see him do well.
chesterfox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Guy on ESPN mentioned NPs weird body language when speaking to Becks......not reading anything in it but it did look aggressive and not very positive. But hey..well done to him tonight..he and all had a blinder and couldn't have happened against a better bunch of tossers!!
Guesty Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Guy on ESPN mentioned NPs weird body language when speaking to Becks......not reading anything in it but it did look aggressive and not very positive. But hey..well done to him tonight..he and all had a blinder and couldn't have happened against a better bunch of tossers!! Someone else saw what I saw in another thread. Looked something along the lines of, play for the team not yourself, etc.
whoareyaaa Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Great performance from Beckford different class tonight. Shows what happens when the service comes in from midfeild!
Jakemoore Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 I think he's quite cocky hence the muted goal celebrations, having said that, as long as he keeps scoring I ain't bothered!!
L4EV Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 The key seems to be that the midfield turned up tonight, so perhaps if you had one on a regular basis he'd score more.
cc_star Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Guy on ESPN mentioned NPs weird body language when speaking to Becks......not reading anything in it but it did look aggressive and not very positive. But hey..well done to him tonight..he and all had a blinder and couldn't have happened against a better bunch of tossers!! With him being ill, perhaps he wanted to come off Pearson may have been telling him the team needs you whatever the convo was, Beckford played like we haven't seen him play.... So more please Pearson
StanSP Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Delighted for him. Can't praise him enough for regaining confidence back in one of the most-anticipated games of the season (ha). Not sure what all the stuff at the end was - head in hands, looking in discomfort. In the nicest possible way, I hope it is that he is ill and nothing more. I did find it quite amusing seeing Dyer just look and stare at him not saying a word . Also, I wouldn't read too much in to Pearson/Beckford communication after he scored his first goal. Probably NP just being a motivator and telling Beckford 'you've got one, now show us what else you can do'. And I'm not saying that just because he went on to score the hat-trick after. The body language wasn't encouraging but whatever NP said, it worked and I am over the moon that Beckford has finally shut up all the haters for now and begun scoring again.
ithuriel Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Looked a different player tonight than he has done in the past, he ran and harried players, just as Nugent was doing and the Forest defence could not handle them and Dyer.
Charl91 Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 The key seems to be that the midfield turned up tonight, so perhaps if you had one on a regular basis he'd score more. This. We need to be playing balls through to him. Not hoofing it up.
paddy Agyemang Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Take a bow perfect performance knew he wouldn't let is down so please keep it up beckford
DanTheFox07 Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Espn said he's not feeling well awwww Probably got a nose bleed after the 3rd like the rest of us ! well done beckford
thybluefox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 He has been poor (although he's been slowly been improving), but no one can deny he was excellent tonight. 2 or 3 goals in the next 3 or 4 games and I think he'll start to destroy teams like we all expected him to.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Standing ovation from the whole ground tonight. rightly so
ithuriel Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Yeah, him and then Dyer we're roundly applauded off, you have to give credit where it is due, our attack hammered them today and never stopped running and harrying, great defending from the front.
chili_con_carne Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 He prob felt ill at the end cuz he took so Many drugs before kick off. He must have took something, whatever it was I want some!!
Kitchandro Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 This is my stamp of approval. I want to be posting this picture on a regular basis from now on.
Matt Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Great performance from Beckford different class tonight. Shows what happens when the service comes in from midfeild! The service was better but lets be honest just 1 example of many last night, his 3rd goal before last night would he have for up quickly, sprinted and have a 2nd go leading to the goal? Doubt it. That was the difference in him last night, he tried and looked like he wanted it for once.
Joe_Whittaker Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Good to see he's had a decent game. Not sure why people were moaning all along, we all know he has the talent and the ability to tear this division to shreads. I still think people are delusional to expect him to score 2 every game. Lets be honest, this doesn't happen if your on the bench or only get the odd 20 mins at the end of a game? No wonder he wasn't all that confident. Great performance non the less, lets take it to St. Mary's on Monday and give them a real pasting and show not only the division what we're made of, but all them 'Keyboard Warriors' on the Facebook banter page as well. The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 CAN WE AT LEAST GET HIS SONG SUNG AT A SLOWER TEMPO PLEASE? TYPICAL OF US WE SING IT SO BLOODY FAST sorry for the caps, just saves me starting another thread. hopefully the idiots will read this n slow it down, as it sounded wank last night
Leicester Lass Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 CAN WE AT LEAST GET HIS SONG SUNG AT A SLOWER TEMPO PLEASE? TYPICAL OF US WE SING IT SO BLOODY FAST sorry for the caps, just saves me starting another thread. hopefully the idiots will read this n slow it down, as it sounded wank last night Better than the Kop's effort of just singing his name in the tune of Leicester, Leicester... when he went off though.
Captain... Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Good performance from Beckford, much improved, but lets not get carried away there were still signs of his awful first touch, and for his 3rd he should have buried it first chance and he really shouldn't have got to the ball first for the rebound, fair play to him for being faster than some of the worst defenders I have ever seen. The thing that impressed me, more than his running around, was the finish for the second, that is the finish of a quality striker, what we paid the money for, but he is still a long way off being his good as he was for Leeds. On a seperate note, has he ever played with Howard, I can't think of them playing up front together, he loved the flick ons from Nugent and others, imagine if he had a decent target man to play with.
