Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Didn't manage to catch the interview on radio Leicester. What did Pearson say about him? Does he still have a future?
cc_star Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Interview I saw he said players deserve praise for tonight but consistency is difficult, he's looking to galvanised the team with a few additions & he's pleased for Becks as he's had an up & down time Interviews are posted in the post-match thread

Could be open to debate too, to see if people to want to keep him etc. Me personally I would rather have him over Tunchev. Do you know what he has allegedly said?
Guesty Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 I caught the end of it. He didn't really commit to anything from what I can remember. Said he played well and he'd been professional. But didn't say he was gonna take him off the transfer list. Think he said he was gonna have a talk with him.
One Arm Babba Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 My interpretation was that he is happy to deal with that situation in house. If SSL is good enough, he will play. Nigel said he can't fault SSL professionalism. He still on the list but they'll have a chat. Basically I think it's up to SSL. Knuckle down and fight for your place and be part of the squad. If you don't want to then the door is open for you. Fair enough really, if he still wants to leave - let him.
Ultra Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 With Bamba away and Tunchev not match-fit, I doubt Pearson will let SSL leave unless/until he has an incoming replacement lined up.
Wig_Wam_Bam Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 There is no way we should let St Ledger leave he's arguably he best centre back at the club.

Fox92 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 I have always said St Ledger is our best defender. Apart from the Bristol City match where he made one mistake, he has been solid. Very technical and can play the ball out of defence. I feel more comfortable with St Ledger at the back than any other of our centre halfs!
Happy Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Certainly St Ledger and Mills should be the partnership for the next couple of games. Tunchev is a bit rusty still despite making his way back to fitness.

Tunchev is a bit rusty still despite making his way back to fitness. I'm in agreement We HAVE to start forming partnerships, last night we did Mills & SSL, Wellens & Danns, Beckford & Nugent, Dyer & Nugent It's only through teamwork that we become greater than the sum of our parts, which on paper is up there with anyone How Mills & SSL will cope with Southampton's pacey play is a whole different question I'd be surprised if things were unchanged

Corky Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 St Ledger looked very assured last night, comfortable on the ball and in the air. If it's all fine in-house then I'd keep him.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Looked decent last night, but then again I think I could look decent against Forest. Still dont think he is as good as our other defenders.
Captain... Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 The same way they both prevent harewood Findley and mgoldrick from scoring there all quick Giving him the ball in front of goal and letting him do the rest?
Jakemoore Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Apologies if this has already been posted but does anyone else feel that SSL has far more to offer than he has been allowed to show?!? I'm not a season ticket holder and in fact I have only been to one game this season but from what I hear and read I reckon he's as capable as Mills and Bamba.....feel free to slaughter me if I'm wrong

Alexikokopops Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Hang on, SSL is on the transfer list? And he's supposed to have said something? Good heavens, I really am living up to my reputation as Vice-PAPident
Ric Flair Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Bamba is BY FAR our best central defender. I couldn't disagree more.
bmt Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Bamba is BY FAR our best central defender. Whilst he probably has the best attributes out of our CBs (massive, good in the ear, strong and clean in the tackle) and can pitch in going forward, I'm going to have to disagree. He causes so many issues at the back, the fact he feels the need to turn out of any issue rather than ever passing it early or putting it out is ridiculous. He is the route of so many problems, and the fact they go mostly unpunished is no redeeming feature. Ricardo's flaps last season all went unpunished yet that didn't stop the fans from turning on him almost immediately (despite 70+ national caps for a good footballing country). His positioning is also not that of some of the other defenders, and he constantly relies on pace and tackles from behind the attacker. All the other CBs have problems too- Mills inconsistency and occasional hot-headedness in the slide tackle, Tunchev injury proneness and lack of match fitness (not as sharp as he could be and lacks presence, and St. Ledger a lack of height and physical presence and the occasional mistake (such as his mare in the first game). My point is that all the CBs have problems (we are afterall a championship club) and to say Bamba is BY FAR the best central defender we have is a ridiculous statement.
burni Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 I think if most prem teams wanted one of our centre backs they would go for bamba. I personally think on average hes our best cb but we havnt seen that much of ledger for a good comparison. Not saying i think hes clear cut better though
cc_star Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Bamba is BY FAR our best central defender. Disagree, he has none of the attributes that make a great defender. Do think he's a fabulous footballer though, very skilful & very exciting. However, just for arguments sake let me agree he is our our best defender... I still think he's an individual, not seen mu from him to suggest he's a team player, he can't form a partnership with anyone (Hobbs, Mee, Vitor, Bruma, Mills, SSL) so even if he is the best I'd happily see him sacrificed in favour of someone who can form effective partnerships, gain an understanding with their partner & start marking up properly.
