davieG Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 It's been bandied about for ages but they're still tottering along. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/71903-coventry-on-the-brink/page__hl__coventry__fromsearch__1
steveherbe Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Should never have sacked Gordon Strachan. It all went wrong when Jimmy Hill left.
Corky Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 It all went wrong when Jimmy Hill left. They were always going to struggle when they left the top flight. They'd spent years clinging on, had very few seasons winning lots of games. It's very difficult to turn from being perrenial strugglers to a team that wins every week. It's not a total surprise to see they've struggled to make an impact since relegation.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 don't you need fans for a football team to run?
acooling08 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 I'm probably the only one who is saddened by this, it's never nice to see any football club struggling with administration.
Fox92 Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 I'm probably the only one who is saddened by this, it's never nice to see any football club struggling with administration. No you're not. I support Leicester but I am a football fan, and it is not nice to see any football club struggling.
Guest Bilo Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 Not nice to see any football club struggling granted, but they were practically spunking themselves when we went into admin in 2002 and were relegated in 2008 so I might withhold my sympathies for now. Christ knows what'll happen to the attendances there, especially considering they'll have no mass followings a la West Ham, Leeds, Leicester and Birmingham visiting the Ricoh and boosting the coffers. I can't imagine Crawley taking too many somehow.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Forest look to be going the same way according to sources 9 PLAYERS have handed in transfer requests failing to score in 10 games and the board want out even though there are no buyers lined up league 1 beckons and we all know how long it took them to get out of that quagmire.
Babylon Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 No you're not. I support Leicester but I am a football fan, and it is not nice to see any football club struggling. It's not... unless they gave us shit for it when we did. So in this case, they can rot in hell.
Captain... Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 I'm probably the only one who is saddened by this, it's never nice to see any football club struggling with administration. I'm with you on this one, I think this is going to be more serious than admin though, there is talk of them folding completely, it is ironic that Keys is bleating on about it when he lined his pocket for years at Sky and it can all be attributable back to Sky money that has driven this wedge between the haves and have nots, and the ridiculous division between prem and championship that leads to clubs doing everything they can to get there and again to stay there and risk administration if they don't. With young english players still being over looked in favour of cheaper foreign imports and all teenagers of any promise poached from smaller clubs before they can recoup their full value, did anyone read about Chelsea signing 3 brothers from Luton 12-13 years old, they had been at the club for 5 years already.
James. Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Yeah I've never been one to hope a club folds just because they said some stuff about us when we were in admin. Who are "they" anyway, probably not the majority of people connected to the club, probably not the staff who will lose their jobs or all the people who will negatively affected if they were to fold. Just seems a bit petty. Good luck to them. They're a shit club but a shit club is better than no club.
davieG Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Like we wouldn't have had fans doing the same if the situations were reversed. People seem to forget that every club has it's idiots and for every idiot the club probably has 100 or so fans just like you and I keen to see them do well and protective of their status.

For that to be true you are suggesting coventry have over 100 fans??? :D

isaidno Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Coventry's average attendence this seaon is 14,800. What's it going to be next season when they are in league 1 ?
davieG Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Coventry's average attendence this seaon is 14,800. What's it going to be next season when they are in league 1 ? Cheaper tickets Chance of a win Chance to be challenging at the top of a league for about the first time in 40 years Probably their natural level (debatable) The owners could leave Gates could even be higher.
Finnegan Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 As I've said before, there'll always be a football club in Coventry, big city with thousands of fans. They aren't Darlo, no fear if going forever. So with that in mind, fukkit, let em crash and burn down a few leagues with financial problems. The **** do I care? Maybe club owners will start paying attention one day if enough 'big' clubs fall. Or maybe I'm just a spiteful **** with a chip on my shoulder.
Corky Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 I hope they remain in business, just crash through the divisions.
Head Honcho Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 I'm probably the only one who is saddened by this, it's never nice to see any football club struggling with administration. I agree Leicester City fans happy about this are just mugs.
Guest MattP Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 Remember the home game with them when we were going into admin, their fans cheered. Unlucky. You won't be missed. However like Finnegan says, they will always be there, it's too big a club not to be.
Corky Posted 19 January 2012 Posted 19 January 2012 We cheered even louder when Brian Deane headed in the winner.
