Corky Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Has been told he can leave. That's why he's started the last two games then.
Happy Fox Posted 24 January 2012 Author Posted 24 January 2012 I would have said that this was likely a while back but now Beckford and Mills are coming good slowly but surely so I doubt we would sell them, unless some team wants to fork out £8m for the pair of them.
Nick Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Beckford: Anybody see NP talking to JB throughout the Forest game - all did not look harmonious to me. NP said something to him on his way off the field and he than sat with his head in his hands with Dyer just looking at him - was he ill or upset..... I know where my money would be. Pearson interview on Beckford's hatrick... Doesn't say much other than it's been difficult for him since he arrived and his goals are good for the football club - not any kind of endorsement at all of JB's performance. Mills: Anybody view the Foxes Player interview? Answered questions politically with about as much passion and enthusiasm as a man on death row. Now we are being linked with defenders etc - behind the scenes looks messy to me - at least performances are beginning to look up. N.
ibbosuk Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 I think Beckford will go, as his performance at Southampton was back to his usual ineffective self, with the best will in the world he is just not going to make it here. As things stand, If Nugent gets injured (God forbid) that's our play off's chances FINISHED in one go. That's why we absolutely MUST get in an inform goalscorer from somewhere before this window shuts...... cue Billy Sharp ?

Sorry don't agree, Beckford was lively again and was unlucky to not get on the scoresheet. Pearson wouldn't start him if he was told he could leave...
Happy Fox Posted 24 January 2012 Author Posted 24 January 2012 Which striker out their could replace Beckford cannot think of too many that wouldn't come cheap, Sharp is off to Southampton, Maynard- Wigan, unless it Rhodes.

Thats just his personality, when he played for Reading it was just the same. He is boring, doesn't mean he's leaving. Mills is our best CB, distribution may not be great but he wins everything in the air and makes some superb tackles/blocks

Beckford : He was Ill with the Flu, Pearson and 2-3 of the players have confirmed this Mills : Isnt going anywhere, He's our club captain, and arguably our best CB, plus we wouldnt get anywhere near what we paid for him back Nick : Reads way too much into things, dont believe the hype
Marmite Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Wow, what a complete load of Bollocks, that Journalist clearly had eff all to write in his section last night
flowwolf Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 You could be right Flowy.. To be fair you often are IMO. However, where I think you DO get that work rate and effort is when you tell the players they need to ship up or ship out... I believe that this is what Pearson has done... And it seems to be having the desired effect. I genuinely think that Pearson has made it clear that everyone needs to pick their game up.. Or they are off... If so, bloody good management... your right there Col, I did not give the major credit to where it is due PEARSON. Give this man enough time and he will get us up there. Look what he did at Hull. Lazy players or ones with attitude will get short shrift from him and as you said " shape up or ship out " and it looks to be working.
thybluefox Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Most worrying thing is some people are buying into it. Last night Beckford was good, I counted two occasions of poor judgement, but other than that he linked up well with Nugent and looked lively, IMO he's getting better by the game. And there's no way we'll sell Mills, he's the captain and is our best CB (regardless of iffy distribution). Lets face it though, if his distribution was perfect, he'd be in the premier league. Same with Beckford, if he could win the long balls and endlessly chase down like everyone wants him to, he wouldn't be playing for us.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 I agree Jace and whether fact or fiction, what this smacks of, to me, is excellent man management. It would seem that Pearson has made it clear that NO ONE is indespensible and that he is willing to look at every player. Look at how this has worked with SSL... He kicked his toys out of the pram, was told he could bugger off, has now stayed and is putting in very solid performances. I believe Pearson needed to stamp his authority at the club and it looks like he is doing exactly this.. To good effect. The point is, if we do happen to go on and sell Mills and Becks, I trust in Pearson that this will be a good thing ultimately for the club. Because I trust in his managerial ability. I never had that trust in Sven and what Pearson APPEARS to be doing is giving the squad the proverbial kick up the arse it desperately needed. Even Wellens knows he must fight for his place.... Correct Col ......and thats the way it should be . One can only imagine the rocket they all got after the Barnsley debacle ........i think more than a few hometruths were expressed !
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Daily Mail is just '60 pages of scary bullshit'

On the Mills distribution what about his pinged pass to Nugent for the 1st goal!!! Cant see either leaving but agree with maybe Bamba after the ACN. I thought the Nugent Beckford partnership worked well and the Saints defence were shitting themselves of Beckfords pace..
Trav Le Bleu Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 A two sentence article by an unnamed reporter. It must be true.
Krimbinho Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Didn't Mills tap the club badge after he scored? Isn't that an indication that he likes the club?
Houdini Logic Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Didn't Mills tap the club badge after he scored? Isn't that an indication that he likes the club? Heartburn
Corky Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Didn't Mills tap the club badge after he scored? Isn't that an indication that he likes the club? He's meant to kiss it.
Krimbinho Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 He's meant to kiss it. If you tap it, it's a way to show pride & respect to the club.
okie fox Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 If Pearson were going to have a clear out, it would be a secret one. The reporter is jumping to conclusions.
ibbosuk Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Which striker out their could replace Beckford cannot think of too many that wouldn't come cheap, Sharp is off to Southampton, Maynard- Wigan, unless it Rhodes. Darius Henderson, Ricardo Vaz Te, Billy Sharp could replace Beckford ( And he was STILL Doncaster player last time I looked) Keep Beckford till the end of the season as a back up to any of the above. But we do need another striker in before the deadline from somewhere.
HoustonFox Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Didn't Mills tap the club badge after he scored? Isn't that an indication that he likes the club? It looked more like he was smashing it (not in a Keysey and Andy Gray way) rather than tapping. Maybe that is the new sign for "I'm up for sale"? This article in the Mail is tripe...
lcfcbaby Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Why would Pearson start st ledger or Beckford or mills if they were going? It's not logical.
Clazie Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 That article does not warrant 4 lines of discussion, let alone 4 pages.
