I reckon that Pearson is a tough bar steward and has a real vision of the type of player he likes. He's probably got to be careful regarding how much money he spends and 'sell to buy' may have been a directive. It also could be that Mills and Beckford have upped their game because either they want to impress and stay at the club or because they are putting themselves in the shop window for a move. Just because we don't want this story to be true, doesn't mean that it isn't and I doubt it's as 'pie in the sky' as people are wanting it/ believing it to be. Hope I'm completely wrong in this though.. Both players are really starting to show their potential.

Storming Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 SSL has been a rock in our 2 best wins of the season and our 1st back to back wins to break up the team would be a big mistake .As for Bamba I think SSL should holsd his place and Bamba could slot into a midfield roll . Keep what we have and build on it if he sells and it go's tits up the fans will be calling for NPs head and who can blame them .We're on a roll now lets keep the team spirit alive instead of ripping the guts out of it best passing football ive seen this season has been the last 2 games

Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 Maybe NP has been saying this to fire them up, play better or I will sell you to QPR, as a motivational tactic it is working, I don't think we will sell now, not enough time to get replacements in, but I could see Beckford being shipped out on loan, a la DJ Campbell and then sold in the Summer if he goes back to his old ways, NP won't stand for it.

From the outside looking in, it seemed as if Leicester were doing the classic gamble of trying to buy their way out of the divison with big transfers and bumper wages. Now we're in January and you are still some way off the play-offs, could it be that Pearson has been tasked with getting some monies back in and bringing the wage bill back down again? I'd be loath to ever take The mail's word on anything but I have been left a little perplexed by how Leicester could hope to keep the level of wage spend up as a sustainable business model. Surely it must all be a bet? You go up, you win. You fail to go up, you lose?

I don't think so, the only players he is getting rid of are those that don't play or those that want to go. The squad we had was too big, which meant there were a lot of people not playing and not happy. I can't beleive this was a good thing for squad moral as you are going to have a lot of negativity around, Pearson knows that which is why we'd rather pay people off and get rid than have them hanging around. Whilst the owners have made it clear they want promotion asap. They have also always maintained it's a long term plan, which only yesterday Pearson repeated after discussions with them. Who knows if it's a gamble, or how much spare cash they actually have. The doubt is always there, but these guys do some pretty genuine. Anyway what can you do, protest about them spending money?

It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case, I think it will also be a better of way of getting promoted and staying up in the long run, Drinkwater is the kind of signing we should have been making for the last 2 years, like Hobbs and Morrison before, young players with good pedigree don't cost the earth don't expect an automatic starting place but will repay the investment, if not this season then next, and if it is not working out it hasn't cost too much.

I think there could be some truth in this too anybody that thinks this is complete crap really needs to start thinking outside the box most rumours in the main media about Leicester tend to have an element of truth. If Beckford was unhappy and requested to leave wouldn't it explain those funny words that Pearson and he shared after he scored that hatrick last week and why he refused to speak to the media after the match? Aye, it would be an unusual protest, that's for sure. I honestly have no idea if they are bankrolling you ala Mansoor or trying to bankrupt you ala Ridsdale. Even if you are being bankrolled on the transfer fees, they should still be trying to keep your wages under control otherwise the business will never be viable if/when they leave. Have they been up front about the way the club is being run from a financial perspective?

Just a another story that is old news! Lets hope the good form continues.

You could be right Flowy.. To be fair you often are IMO. However, where I think you DO get that work rate and effort is when you tell the players they need to ship up or ship out... I believe that this is what Pearson has done... And it seems to be having the desired effect. I genuinely think that Pearson has made it clear that everyone needs to pick their game up.. Or they are off... If so, bloody good management...
