Leicesterpool Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Marshall didn't look good, I'm sorry but I thought he looked clueless did some tricks, he may have looked good on the training ground but in my option it was just all show. Nathan D didn't look great either I think he just brought him on to run down the clock and settle for a draw, didn't look he would cause any problems for Brighton whatsoever. Why did he take Nugent off?

Guest ttfn Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I was also unimpressed by Marshall. Difficult circumstances to come on in though. Drinkwater is definitely not a wide player. I felt he had a poor first half. Looked excellent when played centrally though. Pearson has to take a lot of the blame today. We didn't have a shot on target that I can remember with 11 men on the pitch.
Jimmy Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Delfouneso. ah yeah, he wasn't really on long enough to make an impact before he got injured though was he
Thracian Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Crazy talk, Brighton along with B'ham were the form side of the division and playing at home. If we'd have played with 2 out & out wingers leaving the midfield pairing to be over-ran you'd have been the first to complain about how tactically naive it was. You should look a little closer. In 17 of our 26 Championship games this season we've scored one goal or fewer. I don't remember Hull scoring much more prolifically. I don't care about the "form" teams or what anyone else does. I care about what we do and about our commitment to scoring the goals which might win us things and make the opposition change their tactics for us rather than the other way around. And why does the midfield have to be over-run? We could lay 4-5-1 away from home no trouble - or even three at the back although I'd be much happier about this if we had swift central defenders. We won the game at Southampton because we pushed up high and pressured Southampton throughout. This didn't sound like the case today.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Nugent came off a he did twice the amount of running in the second half. ND came on to run the clock down and he did a decent job till he got injured. Marshall can't really be judged yet as he rarely got the ball and had to do a lot of.defensive work. Anyone know why konch went off?
Callabinho Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Can't really judge Marshall, but his 'pass' to mills was poor. Had to better in that position. I'll put it down to nerves.

cc_star Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I'm not having that, there are a lot who can kick it and have some technical skill, we can do much better than Dyer. Literally 90% of the time he's scuffing it. Terrible footballer. I'm not having that even one's who go for a lot of money like Routledge are mostly awful, there are technical wingers & we've apparently got one in Marshall, but as teams are all about balance it does good to mix it up with pace on the other side & swap wings occasionally Or is there going to be DYER OUT thread created & I didn't get the memo ps. Yes, we should look to him improve as we should all our players but blaming individuals will get us nowhere

Big mistake from Nige there, should have got another winger and if Drinkwater is to play one of Wellens and Danns must be dropped.
Jimmy Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Drinkwater played there very well when he came on against Southampton

It's just a waste but NP seems to do it all the time.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Jimmy - don't know.what Stringer said but it was never three at the back. Ssl was at lb for rest of the game.

Yes, we should look to him improve as we should all our players but blaming individuals will get us nowhere Routledge isn't in the same parish as Dyer when it comes to scuffing it. He's played in the Premiership quite a lot and has proved himself to be very good in this division. Dyer proves he's a league 1 player week after week. I'm not blaming him for today's defeat but my patience has worn very thin, he's just not good enough and I can't stand that he keeps getting picked because we inexplicably haven't replaced him.
Happy Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I agree with that. It's just a waste but NP seems to do it all the time. Wellens and Dyer are his bumboys he ain't going to drop them no matter how shit they are.
cc_star Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 The BBC's stats swingometer thingy... had that we had 2 shots on target in the first half, to their zero, with both sides having 3 shots overall & we shaded possession 54% to 46% They're either wrong or people on here are & they're even making stuff up to moan about. Brighton season ticket holder I know said it was one of the worst games he's seen, he felt Beckford was harsh done by, but that the ref broke everything up preventing them from getting going (by definition that must mean for us too) Drinkwater played excellently when he came on on the right vs Southampton, yes he'll probably end up in the middle but NP's obviously easing the players in... throwing players together who haven't played before that people seem to clamouring for is wrong & our results since we signed the players prove that up to now NP has handled it right Still... moan, moan fvcking moan even if events have contradicted your point
Kitchandro Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Drinkwater played there very well when he came on against Southampton When he came on in that game we were in a position where all we had to do was keep possession and composure, which he seems very good at from what I've seen. But if he aint a winger, he shouldn't be used as one.
Guest ttfn Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Actually forgot about Beckford's shot in the first half. So 1 shot on target when we had 11 to the best of my recollection.
Guest Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 No one, because I don't have the pace Dyer has. Dyer is living proof that you can make it as a footballer with pace alone. And that is why our country is shit at football. haha. You're blaming Dyer for the loss.
Guest shearfox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 our player gets injured and can't continue so we are restricted to having to play with nine men and guess what they bloody score, ridiculous.
Alexikokopops Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Got back to London about an hour ago. You have to laugh or else you'll just cry. From where I was standing Beckford's red was laughable. He gave him a light cuff either on the shoulder or the back of the head saying "get up". Maybe if you're completely draconian to the letter of the law you could say he raised his hand, but any ounce of common sense would say otherwise. I've no idea why Sparrow got sent off, it just looked like a standard challenge where our guy came away worst than the other. That said, I could see the reply and it turns out Beckford boxed him in the ear and Sparrow did a kung fu kick to his balls. It was too cold to take too much notice of anything. I've only just got the feeling back in my toes.

BBC are saying it was for something said to Dunk, http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16778908 I have never heard of anyone being sent off for a comment to another footballer before, even with Suarez and Terry no action was taken on the pitch, and I doubt it was a racist remark... And Pearson was being a twat in the Stringer interview, he knows what the official reason is but wouldn't tell Stringer, their interviews are getting truly cringeworthy.

You're right in that it is odd. It doesn't explicitly say that's why he was sent off, just implies that it was, so maybe they're not sure either! Edit: And I've just seen Sparrow was sent off for a second yellow I'm a PAP at heart, I had no idea what was going on.
