Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Just got back too, still gutted and the weather on the way back was shocking. Overall, we defended very well, and they werent that good. Both teams passed the ball around very well but without a final product. We had some good chances in the first half, but didnt take them. One big problem today was Wellens, he gave the ball away stupidly a few times and a better team would have punished us. He just didnt defend either, Danns on the whole was superb chased everything and worked hard, Wellens looked slow and like he didnt want to commit. Drinkwater was decent though kept coming inside, he isnt a right mid so hope Wellens loses his palce for him in the middle, though thats hard now without Danns. DD should have done much much better with one chance at 0-0 though when he ran into the box from the left and his final ball was extremely poor, nothing ball really. Dyer was poor today, time after time he couldnt cross, and he got in some good postions but just gave up the ball easily. He comes accorss a player whol oves the club yes, but he is also a thick player in terms of intelligence on the ball. Very poor today. I was imprssed by our defence today until they scored when once again, Peltier was at fault. He is too lazy in going forward and not getting back, and is never in the right back position when a ball from the other side comes accross. Has to improve this as its costing us. Whats annoying is that we possibly shaded it till Beckford crazily got sent off, although we didnt have many clearcut chances, except a free Nugent header from a corner (oh the set pieces without Gally playing were far better too). Overall gutted, yes the lino got Beckford sent off, yes we were robbed, but we also still concede soft goals. I think its a lack of quality more than anything, too many average players in Dyer, Peltier and Wellens.
broughtonblue Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Ok the ref didn't help, but it wasn't his fault that we weren't able to pass to our own team, and had no cutting edge. When the teams were put on the screens at the ground I looked at them and wouldn't have swapped any of their players for ours, so as individuals we looked better but again we slipped into the 'can't play as a team' mode, on the Plus side though my mate (a brighton fan) was in one of the exec boxes and he was impressed with the noise our fans made and said we completely out sung the homo fans!
SantiagoFox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Today was strange for me as for once I didn't go; my mate who normally drives was waiting on something until the Saturday before buying tickets and they sold out on the Thursday. So I had to endure the commentary on Radio Leicester. As I didn't go, I can't really comment on what may have been another set of crap officials, but I have to say the support sounded great. Well done to all who were there.
Callabinho Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 A few of Peltiers decisions are questionable, wasn't overly impressed with Marshall either, But I will give him the benefit of the doubt this time! Wellens was pretty shit, however he made up for one of his errors in the first half. Morgan looked pretty solid when he came on, would like to see more of him, and I would like to see Paintsil have another chance. Too many times pelts leaves a huge gap for his player to run into. Drinkwater looked far more assured in CM than an the right, but he will most likely be partnered with Wellens for a few games. We have one or two stars, combined with a few average players, who all have the same downfall...Inconstancy. We have far to many inconsistent performers in the side, and it is this which has halted our progress. I sure hope Beckford has his card rescinded!
Mav Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I was also unimpressed by Marshall. Difficult circumstances to come on in though. Drinkwater is definitely not a wide player. I felt he had a poor first half. Looked excellent when played centrally though. Pearson has to take a lot of the blame today. We didn't have a shot on target that I can remember with 11 men on the pitch. I have never read a post by you that isn't complete bollocks. I had an absolute c*nt next to me today. When we were keeping possession well in the first half he was shouting, 'the ****ing goal's that way' yet when Mills did one long ball it was 'stop giving away possession and hoofing you shit twat' - was that you by any chance? Very impressed by Marshall, looks lively and was a threat from both wings and skinned his man twice but the end product was just lacking - if we were going to score towards the end it would have been through him. How can you blame Pearson? He came here with a game plan to contain Brighton and it was working until that mug of a lino got involved. I don't remember Brighton having a sniff first half and if Nugent put his header away or Danns was more composed in a very dangerous position we could have gone into the break with a lead. I was right in front of the Beckford incident. Basically Dunk cleared the ball down the line and Beckford closed him down. Dunk then jumped on the ground with no contact whatsoever (Tom Daley are you watching?), the lino initially gives nothing. Beckford then pats him on the back and then the linesman (fat c*nt thanks for ruining my weekend) starts flagging like a chimpanzee on crack cocaine. Beckford off... As for the Danns sending off - can't really argue with it but he picked up his 2nd after stopping a dangerous break after Morgan was assaulted Joe Mattock style in the Brighton penalty box. Agree that the tackle on Delfouneso was no more than a yellow but fvck me, how cynical and dirty were Brighton? It was a nice little touch and neat turn by Delfouneso as well. Morgan is a tank.
sdb Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Tough game to watch, Was in with BAHA fans and they couldn't beleive their luck today. Beckford's red was ridiculous. And we should have had a pen right before their goal. All other decisions were correct I think, but it was frustrating watching them hack Dyer every time we broke. Nobody was especially poor. Wellens lost posession too much and Dyer's final ball was poor, but no one was awful. The luck we have with refs is boarderline dubious now.
Corky Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 No cutting edge up front, solid defence, one moment of poor marking cost us and some dreadful officiating. There were three red cards, yet the worst challenge of the day brought a yellow which meant Delufouneso couldn't carry on. The prats in pink ruined the game with their inconsistent card distribution and blowing for a free-kick every time someone fell over. At least we got to boo Mattock.
Bert Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Dyer was shit for the third game on the trot. How they've only had 1 sent off I don't know. Drinkwater stamped/studded in his chest whilst he was stood up? Officials pathetic, YET AGAIN.

Why do I find myself scanning through your posts looking for the inevitable Gally dig (EVEN WHEN HE WASN'T PLAYING?!)
london gull Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Can't comment on the game today, because I couldn't make it. However, just wanted to comment on the post above about none of the Brighton players improving the Leceister team. Everyone entitled to their opinion, but Buckley ? .... won the game AGAIN today. Can't comment on his performance obviously today, but he's potentially the best player to be seen in a Brighton shirt since Peter Ward. If he keeps fit (which is the question) we will struggle to keep hold of him and the Premiership will come knocking. Hope you got back alright if you went to the game, shocking weather tonight.
lemtom Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Just got back from the game and for those saying your unimpressed with Marshall come on.. were playing with 10 men which means he's not going to have much oppurtunity to go forward and create so to judge him at all on his 20 minutes or so is pretty stupid. As for the goal ive just watched it and it actually came from our own free kick at the other end.. Defence left exposed on the break Morgans out of position and missing from the middle, peltiers tried covering and picks up morgans man which means peltiers man is left on his own back post. Can't believe ive not read anything about the foul on morgan in the box i was 2nd row and it looked like he got dragged down blatent penno ref gives it other way they go up the other end and score...
london gull Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 How was your experience of the stadium ? .. a few teething problems with food, drink and travel, but will be immense when finished inside.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Delfouneso came back on though, dispite the red card we was still awful even before the sending off, didn't look like winning but we didn't deserve to lose, I think we won't appeal the beckford incident because we all know the FA are cvnts
Corky Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Marshall didn't come on in the best circumstances, it was very tough for him to make a true impression.
lemtom Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 How was your experience of the stadium ? .. a few teething problems with food, drink and travel, but will be immense when finished inside. it'll be a lot better when its finished west stand is very good but at the moment i think the other 3 small stands let it down.. food and drink fine no problems, travel wasnt the best but the free shuttle bus from the stadium to the park and ride was decent so cant complain
Bilbo Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I've not felt this disheartened by a loss for a while. Maybe it's because the team was starting to look like playing the way we know they can do in the previous few games, coupled with the fact a few of the players whose effort was in question had started to pull their socks up.
