Finnegan Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Are the people chastising our own supporters for being frustrated with Gallagher really suggesting that his last five or six games, prior to yesterday, weren't terrible? I mean, you were actually satisfied with that level of performance?
Wakeyfox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gallagher is frustrating, if he plays 10 games on average he will be poor for 5, average for 3 and with his set peices or long rangers will win 2 games single handedly. Problem is you never know which one your going to get. Just wish he'd put more of a shift in when he's having a poor game. I think thats what annoys most people becuase he could do it if he really wanted do. Does annoy me when people boo him or cheer when hes subbed though. Not like hes gone out there to play bad. He just has a certain skill set and when he's having a bad game Pearson waits to long to sub him. Totally agree with this. Could we start him on the bench, then bring him on if we a free kick in an area that he's gonna score from or a penno? His delivery from corners rarely clears the first defender. How hard can it be to deliver a decent corner when that is one of your main jobs and you practice it every day? If I was a postman and couldn't manage to get letters through the letterbox then surely I'd be given another job or fired. Not saying we don't need him, I just think that if he got stuck in a bit more and put good corners in regularly then people would warm to him a bit more.
Jace Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Its threads like this that make Foxestalk brilliant! Can't wait to see who the scapegoat is next week!
Nick Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Why o why o why is gally starting?? Oops - you've had a mare......
flowwolf Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 He could easily have missed the penalty and the free kick, then what would we have said about his game ?
sharpie Posted 12 February 2012 Author Posted 12 February 2012 Im glad to see some people agree with me, from what ive heard and read he didnt have a great game apart from his goals yesterday, apparently marshall looked good.
dannythefox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Marshall needs time to settle he looked good when he came on yesterday he's not just going to walk in to our side. Everyone knows Gally is a Pearson favourite and he will always play him because of his set pieces.
Happy Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally needs/needed a kick up the backside and the signing of Marshall is putting pressure on Gally and Dyer to perform something called competition in the wing positions which we have not had for a long time.
Jace Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally is the new Yakubu he doesn't do anything all he does is score goals...
GianEmmo Zola Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally played ok yesterday. Played some smart balls. And took his goals well. Yes marshall looked ok too. But he almost cost us by losing the ball twice. Not one person cares to mention this. As they want gally replaced in the team. Its obvious. Marshall will be a class act in time. But gally also has a massive part to play. What if we get to play off final. And gally plays his normal self and bends in a free kick in injury time to win us the game. Would fans still critisize?

If Gally plays his normal self he will be awful, bottle every tackle, no attempt to make a tackle, not win a header, cant beat his man, no pace, maybe put a couple of good balls in but more than likely on corners not beat the first man so yes i would not be happy, but if he has his 1 good game in 7 and scores then i would be happy but still wouldnt rate him, you cant play players who are not consistent performers, 1 in 7 is not good enough its obvious.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Hes a winger. Not there to make a tackle, not there head a ball. Hes there to cross. Hes not a flair player. Wont beat his first man becks never beat his man. Hes a dead ball specialist and a great passer. I no he can be frustrating at times. But so can any player. Hes still an asset to have. But everyone can have an opinion so il take yours on board!
Captain... Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Are the people chastising our own supporters for being frustrated with Gallagher really suggesting that his last five or six games, prior to yesterday, weren't terrible? I mean, you were actually satisfied with that level of performance? His performances weren't great, but they were not as bad as the criticism he gets on here, people have made their mind up about Gally and watch him with blinkers on, thye only see his faults and ignore it when he does track back, and tackle and play good balls. Every time I watch him play I see him make tackles, track back and deliver some good balls, I also see him get bullied off the ball and give away possession, but he is not the only one guilty of that. That is bollocks, did you not see him win the ball against Cardiff and pick out a great pass to Beckford? He does things like that every game, he is not without his faults, and Marshall may be a better bet on the right, but the Gallagher blindness people have on here is bordering on obsessive, like it was with Wellens, I think part of the problem is we know he has ability, and maybe we expect too much from him, he is a decent championship player, if he was consistently banging in goals from 30 yards he would be in the premiership, likewise with Dyer, if he could deliver a great final ball he wouldn't be with us, just get over it and support them on the pitch.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally is the most naturally gifted footballer we have at City. Marshall is for the future
Finnegan Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally is the most naturally gifted footballer we have at City. lol LMAO.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Gally is the most naturally gifted footballer we have at City. Marshall is for the future Very true, however has some downfalls aswell
Thracian Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 I don't see why not. They look like completely different players and offer the manager diferent options. Gallagher is never going to fast or the sort of person to take people on and go by them. But he's one of our biggest goal threats and we're a bit short of those and have been for years. Marshall has still to show his best - Beckford took time as well - and, thankfully, Pearson has the luxury of being able to ease Marshall into the team gradually. Marshall's very presence will keep Gallagher on his toes a point perhaps reflected in Galagher's looking a bit more detrmined in the tackle yesterday and more urgent in his closing down. Whatever, it was Gallagher's best all-round game for a while although do think the whole team is benefitting from Drinkwater's speed, accuracy and range of distribution. What I particularly like about the Drinkwater is that he makes himself available and demands the ball. To me that - and the ability to pass the ball quickly and constructively - is the essence of a central midfield player. There seems to be more off the ball running too - perhaps because the runs are being seen or because the players are developing a better understanding. Marshall is being eased into that understanding and the pattern of play under Pearson and the players are also getting to know what he does. Solid, sensible team building to me and not in any way a statement about Pearson rating one above the other.
MikeyT Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 I love it when people make these threads, just because it always jynxes it Like the "My mate is the ref today" ?
Haydos Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 He could easily have missed the penalty and the free kick, then what would we have said about his game ? He didn't though.
stix Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 Is he not our 2nd highest scorer this season behind Nugent? Take his goals this season away and see if we are still in with a sniff of the playoffs. 100% record from 12 yards this term? Bar possibly Kasper there isnt a player at the club currently with any kind of positive consistancy throughout the course of this season so far. Even Kasper has had his moments aswell, nobody has vilified him. We just need someone else taking the corners.

Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 12 February 2012 Posted 12 February 2012 lol LMAO. Not without a few weak points granted but generally i believe Gally is a very gifted footballer

Some of the letterboxes today were designed in hell, and I have the blooded fingers to prove it.
