Steve Howard past it?

Why does Steve Howard still make the bench for us? I fully appreciate everything he's done for us I really do. But surely he can't still make the bench? Also to top it all off he gets brought on instead of Ben Marshall who is sat there waiting for a chance to prove himself! Surely the novelty's wore off now.. Yes it's funny sometimes when he comes on and people go "Steeeeeeeveeeeee" But he's too old! We can't keep bringing him on like we do.. We were crying out for a right winger and we sign Marshall, good! But oh no we still play slow Gally and bring on Steve? Why? Thoughts please!...

Yep agree with the above, his time was up a long time ago. He brings nothing to the team, apart from late fouls, which just wastes time.

God knows where Delfouneso was tonight, injured maybe but if so, I would have preffered Hopper on the bench, or Kennedy.

My guess is that with Watford being a rugby pitch the surface wasn't conducive to passing football and with the limited time left to get an equalizer, Pearson decided to go long ball with Howard on to win the ball in the air.

He was on for less than 10 minutes, we're surely not trying to make him the scapegoat are we?

No not at all, just think he's a waste of a sub. When you could name 7 subs you can understand having alsomebody on the bench that can win headers from long balls (which a lot of the time he doesn't do without fouling someone). Only being able to name 5 means u need quality that can change a game if needed

No not scapegoat webbo. It's not his fault that people are questioning him coming off the bench it's more a question of why he was on the bench in the first place. He has always given his best for the club and we thank him for that , but surely Pearson had better options as subs than poor old Steve ?

Yet again we sunk to another teams level and get beat at their game. We have the players in the team and on the bench to open teams up like Watford. I dont dislike Steve Howard, I just think he is not our sort of player anymore. When Pearson brought him on it was a real negative move. The game cried out for a bit of creativity.

Really pissed off tonight. Thinking of going on a hiatus until next season now. What a waste this year as became. The season is virtually over and we're not in to March!

I wouldn't use him as a scape-goat either, at least not for tonight. I would have much preferred Delfouneso on the bench than Howard tonight.

But, I don't understand why we use him as an impact sub seeing as he's only brought on for the last 10 minutes of recent matches. I think the Championship is too high a level for him now. He doesn't offer us anything productive and we should have got rid in January. Were no clubs interested in him? If that's the case, that actually says a lot. When does his contract run out?

I do appreciate all the great performances and goals he has given us since he has been here, but right now, there's just no place for him at Leicester anymore.

Howard was past it in the season we bought him. We were relegated for a reason.

He had a decent year in league 1, but that was always his level and we should have left him there.

If we actually had another fit first team striker then he wouldn't have been on the bench. We are without Schlupp, Waghorn and Delfouneso through injury.

As for Marshall, he's only just arrived, he's a young kid just had a big move, he's had some off the pitch stuff to deal with and nobody knows if that has or hasn't played a part. He has been here for Brighton, Boro, Cardiff and Watford, the Boro and Cardiff performances were decent, so why would he have started?

Howard coming on instead... were you there? Did they look like they struggled against big players at the back, had the wingers had much joy, were we just trying something different.

Well said agree with all of this

Steve is comfortably my fave city player... But I think he is past his best now.

Do think we need a player like him to offer a plan B if we are losing and need to be more direct but what is the harm in him seeing out his contract this season, having a few occasional brief cameo appearances. Its not like we have any other strikers other than completely unproven youth players to replace him with and there is no point getting a striker in on loan as its looking likely we are writing this season off and building for next

Stilll love ya Steve

The reason why Howard makes the bench is probably because he's the only striker to give us a different option ie. the only one who can win anything in the air and just be a lump who can hold it up.

Again, I won't be surprised if Pearson doesn't seek out a younger, better version in the summer.
