Norfolk Constabulary reply to my e-mail.

I sent an e-mail to Norwich Constabulary (see 'High-Risk Away Fans #51) and today I have received the following reply which I have been granted conditional permission to publish:-

I am writing in reply to your email to Norfolk Constabulary on 10th February 2012. Your email to us has been recorded by our Professional Standards Department as a Direction & Control complaint.

Norfolk Constabulary recognises that decision to reduce the numbers of Leicester City F.C. supporters attending the FA Cup 5th Round match on Saturday 18th February 2012 at Norwich City F.C. would be upsetting to Leicester City supporters. This important factor was taken into consideration by Norfolk Constabulary.

The actual decision to reduce the numbers of Leicester City supporters attending this match was made by Norwich City Football Club in conjunction with The Football Association. This decision to reduce the numbers of Away fans was supported by Norfolk Constabulary, based on the grounds that there has been a recent history of significant disorder involving elements of both Norwich City and Leicester City supporters. In reaching this decision Norfolk Constabulary are in no way branding all Leicester City F.C. or Norwich City F.C. as high risk but just a small minority of supporters from both clubs.

Norfolk Constabulary acknowledges that the vast majority of Leicester City supporters are bona fide and law abiding people supporting their club. Furthermore Norfolk Constabulary looks forward to welcoming Leicester City supporters to Norwich, who we trust will have an enjoyable visit to the City.

No previous evidence of trouble as references?

No Names mentioned on either Norwichs side or the FA's for reference?

Only one reason as to why they supported it (without showing evidence for the only reason)

Complete waste of time as the FA said it wasn't down to them so it seems Norwich were just free to get away with this. Absolute joke

No details on this significant disorder then?

We have a few shoplifters in Leicester so we should halve the number of people allowed to shop?

Stocky

I dare say that if you tried hard you could have penned that response yourself as its just the standard bullshit answer you'd expect with the blame nicely spread out amongst all parties

Fair play to you for asking the question

I recieved exactly the same reply.

What I am still asking is how do they feel about the fact many Leicester fans can and will be buying tickets in the Norwich home areas and potentially causing more trouble rather than just giving us the whole 4000 and not completely stopping the fact that Leicester fans can and a couple probably would still buy tickets for the home areas but it would certainly cut this number.

I myself was offered tickets in the Norwich home area, A friend of mine had friends in Norwich who offer to get me a ticket, I declined as I knew I wouldn't be able to control myself should we score, should we win. I know many who will just go ahead and get them in the home areas though.

this is all down to Norwich's Chairman and Manager to try and get an easy pass into the next round. they know how many we took to Forest and they know we are LOUD.

Dare I say Karma will come back round and shit in their face.

If we did get a replay I would give them 1000 tickets. But that wont happen because the thai's are greedy!

I am not underestimating the Norwich support because I understand they have a large majority of their stadium filled with Season Ticket Holders however I dare say they would only bring around 1000 (Maybe a few more, not many though) as it would be a midweek match. So cutting their allocation wouldn't be as much aggrevience to them as it is to us who would easily take 4000 (And probably more) on a Saturday afternoon.

As for the Thai being greedy I raise you for being ungrateful.

To be fair Norwich are very well supported away from home. The football club has always been followed by large numbers of passionate fans even when they haven't been in the higher leagues and indeed, despite most fans having to travel from a fairly distant part of the country, they are still there in numbers at away games during periods of winter weather. Norwich City have in the past even supplied free scarves and their famous six finger gloves to supporters free of charge.

Football is a very important part of the culture in Narrritch after all what else is there to do apart from crunching carrots or having sex with one of the family.

Feck em and only give them the same number as they have given us if there's a replay.

Sounds like a cop out to me . . . . . .

still can't believe they're getting away with this. It should really be all over the press on Saturday. We are being ****ed over and I want everyone to know it

Just checking my e-mails and guess what, I got the exact same e-mail from the Police, word for word except it was obviously addressed to me to make it 'personal'.

I spent quite a bit of time the other day contacting NCFC, The local rag d=for Norwich, The Norfolk police and the Norfolk County Council.

Classic example by them all of passing the buck and saying it wasn't their fault.

Best guess by going what some of the Norwich fans have said, is that NCFC just can't be doing with the bother of shifting the season ticket holders from their preferred seats. A pathetic reason for sure but it looks likely. They used the potential of trouble as a smokescreen.

Didn't they sell their end out last season on a Tuesday night?

So if there is a History between the two clubs with both sets of supporters they are not prepared to give us another 1500 yet they are prepared to give the other so called trouble making fans those extra 1500 mmmmmmm

Errrr?

In what way have the Thais EVER shown they are greedy. They have been nothing short of generous... with their money, tocket offers for fans, free pie and pint... pretty much every way....

Yes we did! We have sold out every away allocation this season apart from Sunderland away on a Wednesday night when it was on Sky when we only took 1,000. We brought 2,500 to you guys last year and we would easily bring that again. Anyway, hopefully it doesn't come to that and we beat you on Saturday!

Stocky, I respect you for trying to find out more about this.

The answer you got is perhaps not surprising and as MUP said earlier is a cop out.

But well done for sending the email in the first place mate.

So.

According to this, the decision was taken by NCFC (in conjunction with the FA) and agreed to by Norfolk Constabulary. According to NCFC, the decision was taken by Norfolk Constabulary in conjuction with the Safety Advisory Group, and sanctioned by the FA. According to the FA, the decision was taken by the Safety Advisory Group in conjunction with NCFC. And according to LCFC, the decision was taken by NCFC after consultation with Norfolk Constabulary and the Safety Advisory Group.

Oh well. At least we've gotten to the bottom of it

Thanks for your appreciation CCF! Although I won't be there, as much as I would love to be, I was as incensed as any other Foxes fan. I regarded it as a personal insult and slur on me and every other individual person who supports our Club and when the powers that be start to throw their weight around and literally move the goalposts to suit themselves and at the same time deny us what should be rightfully ours, then it is time to make a stand.

United - or should that be City we stand, divided we fall.

Remembering the Barrister's charter: If the law is on your side, hammer it in to the judge. If the facts are on your side, hammer it into the jury. If neither the law nor the facts are on your side, hammer on the table.

To my mind, we have the law and the facts on our side and the point must be made as strongly as we can.
