leicesterisme Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Don't see the point in this at all, as jonlcfc1990 has already said Doncaster will not sell out their end. It's just pointless.
Corky Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 personally i dont think its a brilliant idea but cant hurt to try it....tho I suspect the area will be heavily monitored for trouble At our ground, with the jester hat, prawn sandwich, sit down, take your flask, plastic flag army? Forgot face paint.
Kingylcfc Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 its not like they'll be filled by leicester fans...so just opens it up for Donny families to have a good time, and not all the banter with swearing around them!
James. Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Interested to hear davieG's thoughts on this... correct me if I'm wrong but back in your day (no offence) football fans managed to combine passionate support, real banter (not the neanderthal shit a lot of people on here subscribe to) and a respect for their fellow human through congregating in mixed areas and still producing an atmosphere superior to a lot of modern day games?
FrankieADZ Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 At our ground, with the jester hat, prawn sandwich, sit down, take your flask, plastic flag army? well im sure they'll be trouble if someone gets the wrong order from the food kiosks.
Dan Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 its not like they'll be filled by leicester fans...so just opens it up for Donny families to have a good time, and not all the banter with swearing around them! Good luck with no swearing. People act like kids hate the swearing at football.
lcfc_amie Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 I don't see the big problem with this. It's not like they're being sold in L/K block/ the kop. So surely it won't affect the atmosphere, as that's where most of it comes from. The section will be heavily monitored, and they are only opening it up to families. If anything I see it as a good thing, as it teaches any kids that go, that you can go to a football match and sit with apposing fans without any trouble.
Babylon Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Even Mandy wouldn't have the bollocks to sanction this sort of thing are the Thais for real..
davieG Posted 2 April 2012 Author Posted 2 April 2012 I seem to be the only one who thinks this is a good thing but then I remember being in packed Filbert St, 40k+ mostly standing mixed fans but with no problem but plenty of 'rivalry'. It also provides an opportunity to demonstrate to the football authorities and the Police that there are situations where fans should be allowed to mix, did any of you read Lisa's blog linked in the OP. I resent being told which pub I can get a drink in, I resent being kept away by over the top policing from other fans when I attend an away game, I resent having to exit a football ground via a convoluted route when not 5 yards from me is an exit and all because the police in their wisdom believe we're all potential hooligans and treat us like we're dangerous animals. This doesn't mean I'm advocating completely mixed stadia but if young fans can be educated into accepting that the vast majority of fans of other clubs are no different to us, they just happen to support another club then maybe they'll be less risk of trouble in the future and maybe, just maybe in the future they wont be treated like a piece of dog shit that the local copper has just trod in.

Teach them that and then leave them even more unprepared when they're old enough for Millwall away.
Daggers Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Doncaster Fans offered Family Tickets in a mixed area I don't want to be sitting with gays, blacks or rugby fans. Terrible idea. They might even be terrorists.
1964FOX Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 I have no issue with this, quite looking forward to how many we will be giving West Ham for our Monday night Sky Sports fixture. That would certainly do wonders for the atmosphere.
accessory Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 In this day and age, do we need "family" areas at all? Back in the days when hooliganism was rampant, the idea of having segregated "non-violent" areas of the ground made some sense. But giving an extra area of seating to away fans, when the designated "away" corner is likely to be a third full at most, is particularly ill-conceived.
cecchini Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Living in luxembourg I've been to a few Metz games. (surprising how similar a team they are to us) Fans are allowed to mix but generally don't, They have some banter, they take the Mickey but violence is very unusual. If there is violence its usually politically motivated, or perhaps racially (there are a large number of immigrants here as well) In speaking with the local plod, they are amazed at how "the English managed to get the hooligans under control" and why the english only cause trouble away from home. This is because of the oppressive and suffocating behavior of the police, I do agree that it could be done with more courtesy and humour but in the end, I have no problem taking my kids to games, have no issue walking them through a group of away fans etc, and feel far safer than i ever did in the 80's. But I do agree that football supporters need the tribalism
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 I remember when Filbert St was a hostile place to go now were a ****ing joke. And it's the Thais that have done this gay thing. THAIS OUT

FrankieADZ Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 wonder if this idea would work for matches involving clubs like West Ham,Millwall,Leeds and alike
Leicester_Loyal Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 Stupid idea, why do we have to mix and be all friendly with each other?
Corky Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 I remember when Filbert St was a hostile place to go now were a ****ing joke. And it's the Thais that have done this gay thing. THAIS OUT Yes, the Thai's have turned the ground into a non-hostile place haven't they?

Earl Shilton Lee Posted 2 April 2012 Posted 2 April 2012 I remember when Filbert St was a hostile place to go now were a ****ing joke. And it's the Thais that have done this gay thing. THAIS OUT Why on earth would you want it to be a hostile place? It would be good to see more mixing of fans. Unfortunately there are probably still too many idiots who would dish out abuse based on nothing more than the team somebody supports. Which is bloody stupid. It's only a game.
