Doncaster Fans offered Family Tickets in a mixed area

Recommended Posts

There's been mixed fans in the corporate areas for years. They're also spending a lot to make the Family Stand a real child-friendly experience (I wish the FCC minutes would come out...), so I can see why they're inviting other fans to take advantage of it.

I need those minutes publishing!!

and how shit is the corporate areas, and it was only few weeks back people on here was complaing about an away fan in teh corporate celebrating and how it kicked off....

Not sure why people are getting so upset about this. Isn't integration a good thing? And can't we all just enjoy a football match without it taking on some kind of sinister tribal significance? You're watching a form of entertainment, not going to war. Keep telling yourself this and you won't end up in prison.

No.

This is not the cinema.

Most of the enjoyment about the football for me is about feeling part of a particular group. It IS war, not real war of course, but it is a competition, it's one side against another.

It is pretty fvcking simple tbh, nobody is saying they want to kick the shit out of each other, but get in a group and make some noise, yes. Why are people not understanding this? Are you so unbelievably thick that you don't know that this is the point of view of many?

Have people not realised how hard it is to create an atmosphere when the 'singers' are spread out and not congregated in one area together? That is why we want home and away fans seperated.

Fvcking hell people are so embarrassingly extreme on here. Can you not think like reasonable human beings for christ's sake, and consider that just because people enjoy the tribalism of supporting your team it doesn't mean that they want trouble?

People from different place mixing and getting along? What a crazy concept. (hope sarcasm comes across online)

It's a nice idea. I'd like to think that two sets of fans can sit together. Trouble is there are idiots that go to games that make this risky.

I sit in the family end with my 7 year old brother and there are many of our fans acting like the big man to away fans. I'm not talking about singing songs, it's the aggressive puffing the chest out 'I want a fight' attitude.

If someone has a different opinion to you that is not them being thick it is an opinion!

I totally get your point about atmosphere, but would understand it more if integration happened in every area of the ground.

funny how you try make the differnce so extreme.. dull and boring to full of ex BS..

when in reality it has its singers in there albeit not l block or the kop but often more vocal than the west stand. and there are some ex members in there. not full and all foaming at the mouth to kick off, they was given as an example of people who could react...

I'm not making any differences extreme, other people have done that. I am merely pointing it out.

Really? And despite this, the Club, and the Safety Advisory Group have sanctioned this silly scheme to allow families into the North Stand?

I think you'd better tell Kevin Barclay now.

If they have sanctioned it must be the right thing to do hey.. Its not like no ones ever had issues with them..

wonder how many other footy teams out there do this great idea...

Wouldn't you love it if City could do something to show that not all football fans are thugs, and that we can all get along just fine?

It's not like they want to abolish segregation full stop. Small steps like this could lead the way to us enjoying a beer on the terraces, like they do in other sports. Just a thought.

No not really, how often do you hear of football violence here nowdays anyway..

small steps like this could also lead to full segregation. as said before if it was a good thing more clubs would be at it imo..

Integration like Rugby would be terrible for football, it would kill atmosphere.

I don't want to sit next to supporters of another team, not because i want a fight, but because i want to build atmosphere.

It's nothing to do with wanting to kick lumps out of each other. No better sight in my opinion than an away end or kicking towards your end at home, everyone passionate and making noise towards the same thing. The roar of a partizan crowd - there is nothing better.

Would you really want to give that up?

If there's no violence, then what's the problem?

We already have full segregation, well, in the non-corporate areas.

Apologies for probably repeating what others have said but I'm on a role writing on this forum.

I for one don't want fans to sit together or even integrate together in the future, as it ruins any possible chance of an atmosphere. I sit next to the away fans, not to cause trouble but to have a laugh and maybe exchange a few witty and comical songs/chants. Fans integrating is why I hate rugby, its just dull. Not necessarily the action on the pitch but no atmosphere on the terraces.

Now we have had a few dire games at home this season but sometimes "banter" with the away fans helps make up for it. Even as a kid I could remember walking away from the Filbert Street, and all I would talk to my dad about is the away fans and the songs. (Which I was I told never to repeat to my mum)

However, for tomorrows game I can't see there being much of an issue as I didn't expect them to bring many fans, and I'm sure they did it at Forest before too (maybe wrong). But for the future, a definitive no no.

The club is spending money on making the family stand more accessible to families; allowing entry to the Megastore during the game, for example. I know some of you can't see it, but there are families out there who don't want to stand and sing, especially those with young kids. The ticket offer on Saturday applies only to families, so surely it would be better for the rest of us if the families congregated in their face-painted, sanitised little part of the ground, whilst the rest of us get on with supporting our teams without having a disgruntled parent giving us the evils for daring to say a naughty word?

Er, have they not?

I wish people would read threads before commenting...

lol:crylaugh:

Health and safety concern? In the family stand? Seriously? You seriously expect it to kick off in the family stand?

Oh my giddy aunt.

Yeah I'm sure the Doncaster Rovers fans will be brimming with excitement having access to our club Mega Store :facepalm:

This is what annoys me, I stated I wasn't that against it the idea totally. If the fact of they haven't sold out their away allocation then there is no need or reason for them to be sat with the home supporters.

Why on earth would any Doncaster or any other away fan who has brought their Child to the football with them want to spend 90minutes sat in the megastore, when it has more than likely cost them a fortune in tickets, travel, food and other expenses that comes with attending Football these days. It seems a very expensive day out to let your Child get their face painted when ultimately they are there to watch the football.

The people posting on here are not against the club doing things to liven up the atmosphere in the Stadium, They are against stupid ideas put forward by stupid people.

FWIW I asked my eight year old and he really likes the idea - well up for a bit of harmless banter, sing-song and scarf whirling

I don't necessarily think this is part of a grand plan to sprinkle away fans throughout the ground - just an attempt to create a little local fun for the kids in the family stand

Does anybody know which block of the family stand will be mixed? We're in P2 today.

Family stand - start the song, family stand - family stand start the song :scarf:

Wasn't this initiative started a couple of seasons ago when they issued all the season ticket holders in the family stand with letters stating that swearing and bad behaviour would not be tolerated in that block.

I think this is a good idea and may actually make the atmosphere better, I have been to several games , especially away games where I end up sitting next to a young child and being a parent myself I moderate my behaviour / singing accordingly. I even try not to shout out random things that make no sense but seem logical at the time.

And another thing ! When we did sit in the family stand and some liitle kid sits behind you , gets bored and then continually kicks the back of your chair it gets a tad annoying, (Their parents never seemed bothered) I would prefer the kid to kick the back of another child / parents chair than mine.

Rant Over

Please don't play Gallagher today Mr Pearson, despite what he tells you, he is a gutless idiot.

Yes, because it only sells Leicester City merchandise, and nothing that would interest children, such as a large Pick 'n' Mix section. Oh no.

I've also never, ever heard of fans visiting a club shop when they go to away games. It's not as if anyone collects any memorabilia from other clubs, for example pennants, to show that they've been to a game. No, never.

lol what an anti climax, it isn't integrated at all they clearly have their own block. It's just for families that want away games without exposing their kids to an away atmosphere. Can't fault that really.
