acooling08 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Players who are/were pretty alright, but get the blame for everything. Recent ones have been: Ricardo, Yakubu, Mills, Beckford, Wellens, Gallagher etc Who were our major scapegoats before recently? Or were fans not such whining bitches a few decades ago?
Corky Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Ricardo. I haven't heard fans chant for a player's rival on such a strong level before last season.
Fox92 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Every player makes errors, but goalkeeping errors are highlighted more. Ricardo is a great example of this and probably the #1 scapegoat of recent times.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Ricardo, we had chants for Weale while he was in goal! Weale was worse as well.

Players took it but probably one at a time Going back Martin Henderson under JW. But was a different time. People may have debated in the pub but now it's 24 7 on here and other forums. Also would guess we are not the worst moaners in the country shitspurs and wetspam moan like fvck on TS. What gets me most is players are given no time by our fans SSL Danns Beckford Mills is a little different. But FFS we had so many new players and them 3 got singled our and now look most moaners love em. Some people just need to get real about new players Back Them Give Them A Chance.
hackneyfox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Guppy took a fair amount of grief for not getting back and helping out Gary Mac was never truly appreciated by a lot of the crowd. The boy Lineker took some stick as well.

Danny the Fox 95 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 There's too many too list, we have one of the most fickle set of fans in England!
wellyfox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Guppy was a God He could look like a fish out of water though
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Gally and Kermorgant would be the stand out two for me in recent times.
cc_star Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 The personal abuse handed out to Wellens & Gally has been ridiculous & out of order. Criticism over aspects of their game, fine but not personal abuse. Problem with Ricardo was that he hadn't played for years, he wasn't very good & he displaced Weale, who whilst far from great & in need of replacing he had been a good servant. People wouldn't have minded him being replaced by someone better like Kasper, but a clown...? No. Scapegoats have always existed, like mentioned above even the Guppy split opinion with people who thought he should have got back more.
21st Century Fox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 You could field an entire team with the amount of scapegoats we've had over the last few years.
5waller5 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Grayson used to get his fair amount of stick considering he was an ever present and often captain.

ScouseFox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Yakubu. Ricardo got a lot of stick but he wasn't very good and it was over the top but some was justified. Yakubu, on the other hand, was clearly class, much better than any other striker we'd ever seen play for us at the KP, yet for some reason was hated by at least 50% of our fans. Ludicrous.

All he does is score goals though? Would have loved to sign him.
Leicester_Numan Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Jimmy Willis - Had a nightmare start so the fans were on his back right from the word go and it just got worse. Eventually got dropped and sent out on loan. Superb when he came back. Ade Akinbiyi - Victim of his price tag and our expectations of him because of it.
Corky Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Akinbiyi was overpriced, very overpriced, but that didn't excuse the sitters he missed. Most of them in one match.
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Don't get everyone getting on Wellens back he was our player of the season last year and our key man on the way to the playoffs year before, he's had an average season like a lot of the lads this year but has been back to his best recently.

Jimmy Willis took a lot of stick, I remember David Oldfield got a lot of stick around the same time, as did Lee Philpott, but you never knew if that was all fans or just the couple of vocal ones where we sat. I don't remember any player ever getting booed (except David Speedie but that was all in jest).
