The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 Give Pearson a summer to rebuild, instead of attacking him left, right and centre. He has only had January to buy and sell, which was never going to be enough time to sort out the unbalanced squad. But in January he identified we needed a winger, and got Marshall. Something Sven didn't do with all the money even though we all knew we needed a winger at the end of last season. He also brought in a Pearson-type centre half in Morgan, and Drinkwater, both of which have been good signings in my opinion. He rebuilt Leicester the first time around, he rebuilt Hull, and I am confident he will do it again. Half of you haven't given him the time required. Can't be arsed reading any other comments once I found this. Spot on. I can't stand the fans who want Pearson out now, yet cried out for Sven to have a pre season and a summer making his own signings.
yorkie1999 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 We played them because you always keep a winning team which he did, who would of you had in the midfield against Millwall? I am not worried at all with Pearson in charge. Don't agree with you on this, when we played ipswich pearson brought them on and they changed the game so he had options coming off the bench, but when played against millwall we started with them went a goal down and pearson didn't have the options to bring them on and change the game. What he should have done was started with the same team that started against ipswich.

yorkie1999 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 easy with hindsight eh cause it is, but holloway manages to do it on a regular basis by bringing phillips on late in a game to score a goal because he knows his legs wont last but he'll play well when the other side is a bit tired out. Foresight. In fact thinking about it, maybe thats where we're going wrong. We should be starting with the younger stronger players then bringing the more skilfull wiser players on later on in the game.

Foresight. Not exactly the same thing. Phillips is 103 years old so cant start a game. Thats not hindsight, just common sense.

5waller5 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 I stopped reading after the word 'disaster'. You and a lot of other sensationalists like you have really, really worthless opinions. Stopped reading after 6 words, yet bothered to type 21 in response. Whats to say that after the first half a sentence he didn't share your opinion?? Strange post.
5waller5 Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 easy with hindsight eh The board was full of people criticising that selection before the Millwall game ..... It certainly wasn't in hindsight for plenty of people.
Dan Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 ... Probably the most sensible post from you in a long time.
Fox92 Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I can't stand the fans who want Pearson out now, yet cried out for Sven to have a pre season and a summer making his own signings. Agreed. And this is what annoys me about the situation.
seenitall Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Probably the most sensible post from you in a long time. Ditto
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 For the 850th time, please can people just be a little patient and let NP do what he needs to do..... There's probably half the squad he looks at and feels the same as us.... but he cant ship any out until the end of the season! Maybe people forgot the transfer window shut at the end of Jan....!!?
Babylon Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 The board was full of people criticising that selection before the Millwall game ..... It certainly wasn't in hindsight for plenty of people. Yes the same people who moaned when at half time against Ipswich when those same changes were made, they were rather quiet during the second half and after the game though.
seenitall Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Yes the same people who moaned when at half time against Ipswich when those same changes were made, they were rather quiet during the second half and after the game though. So they were right then?
Babylon Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 So they were right then? Well we lost the game, doesn't mean they were correct though. Can you prove any other combination of players would have done better? If you can then yes they were correct. When we lost to Millwall at home your beloved Sven lost the game whilst playing Johnson and Abe in midfield. He Subbed Abe at half time for Dyer (must have been playing well) and had Fernandes sat on the bench until the 75th minute. Outcome.... 0-3. This is the same Abe and Fernandes that people slate Pearson for not playing and letting go.
RowZ Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 This season has been a disaster, it has been embarrassing for many fans. Another season like this and many will give up. It now seems we are to rely on Pearson getting together a team good enough for promotion for next season. Let's be caustically honest, he has been a failure this time around, so far! Most fans point to the so called inconsistencies this season - poor against teams lower in the league, better against those above us. Rubbish, but then you can't expect most fans to understand what is actually wrong. However we might hope that Mr Pearson has some sort of idea. So far he has not demonstrated the remotest indication that he has any grasp of what is wrong with the team, and that is what should worry us all. Sven had no idea what was going in with Championship football, but if given time he may have learnt, obviously we will probably never find out. Pearson however has vast experience in the football league and yet seems to have no clue of what it is all about, of what is required to have the best chance of promotion. Yes we lost to 'poor' teams near the foot of the table, but we lost to teams above us as well. The truth is we were entirely consistent throughout the season, not as most people seem to think, including our management team that we were inconsistent, simply based on the fact that we could not put together any decent runs in the league at any stage throughout the whole season. We were consistent because we almost always failed to beat teams who were physically stronger in the midfield area, who would be hard and ruthless, who would be busy, committed, and 'in our faces'. These teams did not care how much our team was worth, they were up for the physical challenge and were aggressive in their approach when playing us. Our midfield is largely made up of a bunch of 'girls' who could not kick the skin off a rice pudding. I have been shouting that this has been our problem for about three years now, and we are no nearer putting it right under Pearson than we were under Sven. I am known as a major critic of Wellens, Gallagher, Dyer and King, however in truth my despair is when I see three or even four of these in the starting line up together. They are so easy to 'bully', any team who has a manager sharp enough to understand this has had an excellent chance of stopping us winning, and too many know it and have done it. Yes, there was Barnsley and Bristol City and Millwall and so on, but there was also West Ham and Reading who both have some skill in their teams, but also have physicality throughout their midfields. Pearson obviously has no clue, which was unfortunately proved with his selection of the midfield for the recent match at the 'new' lions den - Wellens, King and Gallagher together - Pillock! That was a match we had to win! If Pearson does not get a grip with the midfield he will be gone by Christmas. Marshall, Drinkwater and Danns can form the basis for the midfielders in next season's squad. Add some steel, vigour and enthusiasm to that and next season could be good. Last chance Nigel! Good post - I agree with all you say and I honestly think the Thai's will row NP out before pre-season. By that time, there should be some interesting managerial names availableStability is the best approach, but only if the manager knows what he's doing, and can motivate his squad.
AyewJoking Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 I think there must have been some verbal or most likely written agreement that NP wouldnt be sacked if he didnt get it right this season. How else can you explain the laughable form displayed by the team. Of course I'm just guessing but I doubt NP would abandon his plans at Hull and come back here with the possibility of being sacked months later. regardless of how much money we're giving him! Now Im not saying that NP has been going through the motions this season as it would be in his best interests to take the club up but he knows he has time.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Royston and RowZ, you two should go for a few beers together, you'd probably amuse each other
Les-TA-Jon Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 Simple Words: - Lack of Success is born out of 14/15 managerial changes since 2004 - Stability is needed - Lack of Success is born out of signing lots of "big name" players, all expecting a large pay packet and an easy ride to promotion - A change in the Transfer Policy is needed - Lack of Success is born out of poor and inconsistent performances - A new squad ethic is needed - Lack of Success is born out of lack of physicality in the players, particularly in midfield - More physical players are needed. Please tell me how keeping and backing Pearson is NOT going to help any of theses issues? Pearson has actually idetified and started to deal with all of theses problems. He manages with a long term vision. He has signed cheap, hungry players with potential. He is creating a new squad ethic/mentality. And he is going to sign more physical players.
filbertway Posted 27 April 2012 Posted 27 April 2012 It's probably worth saying that Pearson...or any manager in charge doesn't just need "the summer and 6 games". If you want a good squad built it takes time, that ideally means keeping the same manager as he is likely to not change the personnel much, whereas your knew manager will have his own ideas and own players he wants. Good team spirit and cohesion is just as important as ability and with constant managerial changes you'll struggle to find that.

He even said in his post match interview vs West Ham he wanted to make the team more physical. I've also said all along you look at his signings, even in his first stint in charge.... an excellent track record.
