How good is Billy Bob Thornton in that first series, a great character!

He's fantastic, but I think slightly pipped by Bokeem Woodbine (Mike Milligan) in the second.  One of my favourite TV characters of all time.

Making a Murderer is fantastic, as has been mentioned. Honestly, if you have a Netflix account I thoroughly recommend giving it your attention. If you don't then it's worth using the thirty day free trial to give it a watch. To anybody who has seen that and enjoyed it, I'll point you in the direction of 'Paradise Lost'. It's a three part documentary over twenty years (I think) surrounding the case of 'The West Memphis Three'. All parts are on YouTube, or were, if any have been copyright stricken.

*Disclaimer;

'Paradise Lost' is quite a bit more graphic in terms of the evidence you see and the details broadcast. Just something to bare in mind if you're considering watching it. It takes a fair amount to make my stomach turn, but parts of that do. Though I maintain that it's extremely interesting.

I haven't seen Paradise Lost, but watched West of Memphis this afternoon.  The same story but a single documentary, 2 hrs long, produced by Peter Jackson & Damien Echols. The missus only normally likes shit stuff with Patrick Swayze in it but even she enjoyed it.

Found it on Phoenix in HD

Highly recommended

If you like Making a Murderer, get on The Jinx. Don't Google it, just watch it and enjoy more absolute madness involving the criminal justice system.

Just finished episode five. Can't believe what went on. It is real events right? Because if it is fiction it is very well done.

I was also thinking if someone was arrested in similar circumstances close to where you lived what would everyone's initial reaction be  given that there would  be similar evidence found and the suspect had served 18 years in prison?

The public unaware of what happens during a police investigation, ie interviews etc. , how they are carried out and if correct procedures are carried. The public rely on the media  for their information. It is easy to be wise after the event.

I must admit I do not know what my reaction would be but being a skeptic I would be wary of jumping to to a conclusion before a trial. Well, I hope I would and others  too.

I've seen it too! The only reason I didn't reccomend that alongside was because Damien Echols was a producer, which naturally means it's extremely bias. Having said that, so is Paradise Lost to a degree. The whole case interests me, and I ended up doing some further reading after seeing both documentaries. At the end of PL I was convinced they were innocent. Less so later on. I'm undecided still, though admit I continue to sway toward innocence. If you get some free time, do give it a watch!

Well if someone did 18 years and then was told they were wrongfully convicted I like to think I'd reserve any judgement.

good answer. But some would say prison could change someone. I'm up to where the  trial has started and it is difficult to be unbiased having seen the build up. The jurors would not know. I like how one rejected put down on a questionnaire don't select me because I think he is guilty.May watch ep 6 now.

Is this on Netflix as well? Seen a few mentions of it.

For those of you that recommended Homeland - I thank you. Realise I'm a bit behind the times but halfway through Series 2 and its riveting stuff. Up there with SOA, The Shield, The Sopranos, Dexter and others for sure...(but still nothing has ever come close to Breaking Bad for me)

Wouldn't consider it anywhere close to The Sopranos, but it is fairly good. Half of it at least. You could say I love/hate the show.

Season 5 was great though.

I'm way behind on TV series, watching Chuck, The Shield and Spartacus currently, Spartacus is basically porno lol

Watched 1st half hour of Spartacus and it was possibly the worst peice of TV I've seen. Had to turn it off. Awful acting and even worse special effects.

It's on AMC in America and BT have that now. Might not be on Netflix for a while.

There are ways around that. I guess I'll be taking the less than legal route to watching
