Love Island should do an over 50s version

I think that would be more entertaining.

I've never been a fan of the show, but from what I've seen of it I can't believe it's still going.

I watched the first handful because it was a novelty and fun but couldn't be arsed midway through the 2018 series when it became obvious they were gonna drag it on for about 3 months, it becomes a commitment at that stage and the people in it weren't broad enough to be interesting for that level of investment, not like the early Big Brothers. The moment sponsors got involved and folk weren't allowed to smoke cigs anymore was the death knell for Love Island imo.

Just watching the golden generation documentary on BBC and jeez I feel old lol looks like it was hundreds of years ago lol

Incredible to think our strikers were two injured players and a 17 year old whilst Defoe and Darren Bent were left out.

25 years ago today, this odd format aired for the very first time:

I'm a bit surprised they haven't released a Blu-ray version yet.

I watched the thing on i-player last night where Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman were discussing the 25 year anniversary.

It was only 30 mins long and felt really forced, rushed, and awkward to me. I get the impression they don't have much to do with each other these days.

I also watched Grevais do his 25 best Brent moments on his YT channel. Shame they couldn't have all done something together and Stephen Merchant never got a mention or any credit on either.

Finally found an american tv show thats actually better than its British counterpart. Shameless, uk version for me is just for tripe. Very weak acting and just uninteresting. US version takes a different tone focusing more being a drama than the uk version which sees itself as more a comedy. For once the yanks got this right, in fact you wouldnt believe its a rip of the uk show.

Agree 100% even though the storyline is ran along similar lines the American version is so much better. Funnier, cruder its brilliant from start to finish.

I loved the office.
Not seen the 25 anniversary on bbc but did watch Gervais on YouTube talking about it.
Not that he’d care but I do think his ego has got out of control and he should have at least mentioned Merchant.
Would rather had them all on bbc talking about it.

I think I'm one of the few who has never rated The Office, nor the humiliating style of cringe comedy it relied upon.

The US version, once it got into its stride, was better.

And yes, Gervais has always had an ego the size of a small solar system.

The Office was definitely a good show. I never rated it as much as some of its contemporaries like Alan Partridge, Father Ted, Monkey Dust or Brass Eye and I think it gets a lot of historical praise for popularising cringe comedy when in reality Partridge had already done that a few years earlier and The DayToday and Brass Eye had already done the satire of television genres a few years earlier too.

I think I also slightly prefer the US version. But i still rare tge uk version as a good show.

Not that I'm keen on the office, the good thing what the americans have done is instead of remaking everything the UK show did, they have ran part of like the same universe as the UK office, as we've seen Ricky Gervais guest star in their version as the same character. It's kind of like their respecting there's a UK office also. While most US sitcom's want to disguise to its original material. In the modern world is difficult as US audience's can now get access to British tv shows and can see sometimes the original is way better.

Do shows like The Detectorists and Early Doors go down well in America does anyone know?

Gentle paced but very, very good in my opinion.

I once read that Police Squad was better received in the UK because of its sight gags, subtle humour and that the viewer needed to really watch for all these aspects. American audiences seemed to often prefer a more 'In your face' type of humour.

Had an aneurysm reading that
