MooseBreath Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 i drive an Audi A6...in 42 not a boy racer.... am not a snob or a w*nker just like nice cars ...have driven BMW ,and Mercedes too.....get fed up with people who post cr*p like this .......please dont tell me you you wouldnt own a car like these if you could ....ok rant over ! I think of many cars I'd buy before I'd buy an Audi tbh. Ugly, chavvy cars.
Raw Dykes Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 I don't know why people are getting hacked off about their car getting mentioned. It seems like a lot of people have all made the same observations about how certain makes of car tend to be driven. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but you have to know that a lot of people will have an idea of how you drive based on what car you choose - an idea formed by pure observation. If it upsets you so much, why not buy a different car next time? It's a bit like wearing a Hitler 'tache, and getting pissed off because people give you funny looks and a wide berth. You might be the nicest person on the planet, and maybe it's wrong of people to be prejudice, but you cannot pretend that certain things don't have negative connotations with the rest of society.

Out Foxed Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 @ audis being ugly. they've overtaken bmw and mercedes in terms of style.

Jon the Hat Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Anybody who doesn't appreciate that they choose brands in order to give messages to those around them is a knob. Marketing of cars appeals to their target market, who all share similar traits. Therefore, if it is possible to make a sweeping statement about any group of people then it is those who have elected to buy into a brand image. Not saying you are wrong, but the branding also improves residuals, which means you get a better car for the same lease cost. Choosing the best car for the cost is not about branding, it is about choosing the best car.
Raw Dykes Posted 17 July 2012 Posted 17 July 2012 Richard herring did try and claim it back though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WveevfQctBo Haha! I saw that recently. I think that's what made me think of it. Funny that Hitler had a "toothbrush" moustache because he was a big fan of Charlie Chaplin. Chaplin must have gutted about it. Imagine Nick Griffin or Jim Davidson started copying your look - getting the same haircut and clothes as you. Bastard!

There's an entire marketing industry out there which can be scrapped if that's true

There are also real quality, efficiency and performance differences between cars as you well know.

Rincewind Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 Saw Daggers in his car the other day. And I wouldn't like to say who this belongs to.
Guest Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 Nissan and Honda: I'm a middle aged woman who's going to make you late for work. Is that a promise.
Reynard Bleu Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 Bet it can pull the shÃt out of a trailer though You could hook up a 3 bedroom semi on an ice rink and it would still pull away. Its a real nuts and bolts car/engine but its simple and it works and will probably do another 100,000 miles. However, My wife hates it and refuses to go anywhere where she might be recognised in it, except when its snows the everyone wants tio know me round here.
MikeyT Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 Girls who stick Playboy bunny logo stickers on their cars are always, always rough as arseholes, without exception. And the ones who have "Powered by fairy dust" on the car too. Seen a few of those around Thurmaston.

Daggers Posted 20 July 2012 Posted 20 July 2012 Branding can only take you so far though. There are also real quality, efficiency and performance differences between cars as you well know. Yep, nothing subjective about that. No sir...quality sure is a defined commodity and nothing to do with marketing at all. Efficiency is irrelevant for the value of your new car...if you were bothered you'd have got a Prius. Performance? Now we get to it: I honestly don't know why you're fighting it Jon - you bought the car for its perceived image and as a statement to the world about your relative success and merit. I ride a motorbike so that people think I am hard, cool and going to fvck their women the minute their back is turned.

I ride a motorbike so that people think I am hard, cool and going to fvck their women the minute their back is turned. I chose it because it is the best of a short list of cars available from my work. The Prius is not on that list because they have shit residual values due to I suspect uncertain future maintenance costs. It is also the only Automatic on the list. I prefer the looks to the Audi A4 I could choose, and I come back to my point that whichever was you look at it it is far better value that the Vauxhall Insignia I could have chosen. Anyway, as I said before I am not arguing with your general point, just stating that a lot of people (including sales people who dont appear to have learnt to drive at any point) pick the BMW or Audi becuase it is the best car on a list they pick from. Which is not the same as spending more of their own money on a car because of the brand because they are not actually paying a premium. My Mrs says she's out.....for the record. Daggers dreams of looking that cool. My wife just wishes I looked that happy

Parafox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Anyone driving a Rover of any model is old, partially deaf, riddled with arthritis so they can't turn their head to check before pulling out. Incapable of doing more than 23 mph. The car is usually biege to match their clothing and their outlook on life. This also applies to anyone driving a Kangoo, a Diahatsu, a new-ish Focus or any car that's obtained through Mobility deals.
Soar Fox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 All people who ride motorbikes are w4nkers. Speed past you most of the time exceeding the speed limit. Then spend most of the time blaming every other person on the road.
