Uncle Albert Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 The Bhoys did my family proud and I'm proud to follow them!
Guest MattP Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Does anything think Fergie got completely out thought by Jose on Tuesday? Watched the second half earlier and I can't believe he didn't change it up after the red card, first thing Jose did was swop Arbeola for Modric (which was clever as he was the natural even up target for the ref being ona yellow) and they flooded the midfielder. Compare his tactics after the dismissal to the way Roberto Di Matteo reacted when they were 1-0 down in the Nou Camp to Barca and Terry got sent off. Could not believe Fergie didn't make a change after it, 1-0 up, 40 mins left and leave two strikers on against ten men leaving Cleve, Giggs and Carrick to handle all those attacking midfielders, it was almost like he was so angry he forgot he had to change it, I thought Jose was being nice and reminding him when he whispered in his ear.

I said the exact same the other day! We can agree.
Guest MattP Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 I said the exact same the other day! We can agree. We can I don't get all the fuss after watching it today. Was a very dangerous tackle, wonder how many would be sticking up for the player had it been Pepe throwing his foot into Rooney like that? Ferguson was absolutely unforgivable, Mourinho is making a change that wins the game and he is just shouting at the fourth official, how can a man of his experience forget to manage his team in a game of that significance?

My point was, what would the reaction have been if Nani was sent off first half or was a different player? To me it looked like the United players didn't know what the formation or game plan was once Nani was sent off? Ferguson just sat there waiting for the final whistle and to go at the Ref. No subs from Ferguson until Madrid went 2-1 up, I just didn't understand it. Obviously Man United fans aren't going to question Ferguson, he's won everything, why would they? Liverpool fans like me never questioned Dalglish, he was a Legend. That's what happens when you've earnt success for a Club, you get that status where most fans don't question you. A lot of Leicester fans put Martin O'Neill at the same level. It's a shame you only see it once they have gone that they did make mistakes.

I don't think I've ever seen a manager lose the plot at such a crucial stage and seem to forget about what was happening on the pitch. For all his domestic brilliance, it probably goes some way to explaining why they have underachieved in Europe over his 30 odd years in charge.

Can anyone tell me how Willian can play for Anzhi tonight after playing for Shakhtar in the Champions League?
RonnieTodger Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 That last paragraph is spot the hell on! Can anyone tell me how Willian can play for Anzhi tonight after playing for Shakhtar in the Champions League? They changed the rules about 2 years ago I think, so that playing in UCL doesnt affect the Europa League. That's why Holtby played for Spurs last night too .

Jimothy Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 I see, I just wondered why Daniel Sturridge was ineligible for Liverpool then? Not sure if it's because his old club he played in Europe for are now playing in the same competition as Liverpool. It's the only thing I can think of.
Guest MattP Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 I see, I just wondered why Daniel Sturridge was ineligible for Liverpool then? Very good point, what the is going here? Rules are fcuked up bigtime.
Eddie Big Balls Posted 9 March 2013 Posted 9 March 2013 The rule is that 1 player can be registered in Jan in one European competition if he played the group stages in the other competition. If memory serves Real bought Lassana Diarra and Huntelaar one January and could only register one of them for the CL because they had both played in the UEFA cup for their previous teams And for the record, I do agree that Fergie cost us the match the other night - he was just too slow to react to the Mourinho changes, although it's also a valid point that who/what would you have changed? I'm fed up of talking about the game with other United fans because they can't get past the 'oh the ref cost us and the lads done good on the night' nonsense.

It must be difficult for United fans to criticise Fergie! Think he should hand over the reigns to someone else (mourinho) now imo
Super_horns Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 1-0 already..Messi scores. Wonderful goal but probably the norm for him!
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Anyone still stand by Baines being better than Alba then after watching tonight?

Super_horns Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 If you believe the papers Wenger has gone with a weaken side tonight taking the battle for 4th place into consideration and seeing that as more important.

Jimothy Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I've said it before, if they're is any team that could turn this kinda deficit around it's Arsenal. By the same measure, if there is any team that could **** things up, it's Arsenal. On that basis, they'll go right to the brink of going through and the **** it up late on.

Yeah I was saying that to my mate before. Same as last year when they were already out after the first leg, 4-0 down, then got to 4-3 and RvP missed a sitter . Be funny if something similar happened, although I'd like them to go through.
