Nani gets sent off deservedly or undeservedly, doesn't really matter, he got sent off and look what happened straight after he walked.. Mourinho brings a defender off and puts Modric on, what does Ferguson do? Nothing. Yeah he's won the lot numerous times BUT he got it wrong, it seemed he was ready to blame the game on the Ref as soon as Nani was off instead of making tactical changes.

i'd agree with that. United didnt do enough to win the game anyway and Van Persie went missing again (better form than Suarez Kingfox?) lol

Haha let's not get into that again!

Valencia or Evans should of come on straight away for either Giggs or Welbeck when Nani was sent off.

Welbeck having to move out to the wing when Nani got sent off lost United the game. Freed up Alonso, he got Madrid moving and they were always gonna win once that happened. The job Welbeck did on Xabi meaning he barely had a touch was superb, with him out the game Madrid didn't even look like crossing the half way line, let alone scoring.

As mush as I've said I don't think it was a red and I've seen similar ones rescinded, Jesus Man Utd are ****ing melodramatic! Fergie virtually having a heart attack on the touchline. Phelan being sent out for the press conference calling it an "amazing decision" (it wasn't, I don't think it's a red, but I can see why with one look the referee might give it) and only Phelan being there because Fergie couldn't face the media. Players crowding the referee after the red card, Rio clapping his hands in the referees face, which in my opinion should have been another red. Can't they just lose with some dignity, even if they do feel a bit harshly treated!

Er No

Only just realised Chelsea played Barcelona last season with 10 men for an hour in the Camp Nou, Di Matteo made tactical changes when Terry got sent off and beat the best team in the world.

Man United had 30 minutes with 10 men and Ferguson didn't make any tactical changes until Madrid went 2-1 up and 3-2 overall, surely he got it wrong last night when Nani got sent off? I just don't see how United fans can't see it.

This chap on another forum I'm on is more measured. Is quite an old chap and isn't always reasonable in his opinions but this one is good...

Yet again this tripe is built up to be absolutely massive and then Uefa put a clown in charge of it and the whole thing ends in farce.

United folded with 10 men exactly as they did when Rafael was sent off v Bayern a couple of years back ~ the tactical cluelessness from the dugout was jaw dropping yet again. We can blame the ineptitude of the referee, but to watch the team immediately collapse to an everyone-behind-the-ball-and-defend once we went ahead was predictable, and invited pressure. The inability of Bambi yet again to convert the simplest of chances while Rooneycry.gif warmed the bench was also typical of the tactical naivete so prevalent when Ferguson gives the opposition too much respect cost us once more as it always does. Perhaps someone could mention to de Gea that when we only have 10 men and they are all in our half hoofing the ball up the pitch is simply giving possession away, perhaps Ferguson and Phelan might want to do what every other team does when reduced to 10 men ~ get fresh legs on and re-organise.

Etc. etc. etc.

Good atmosphere, shame the management let the supporters down but we have bigger fish to fry.

Heard Lou Macari crying on 5Live this morning about the performance. Showed his ignorance towards the referee not knowing his prowess with UEFA, Chelsea-Barca, Euro 2012 4th official etc, saying England is physical and we'll always suffer because we are so. Total bias and Man Utd rimming, it was embarrassing.

As for the red card, well it was harsh but like most I can see why it was given. However let's not let it disguise the fact Man Utd had half an hour 1-0 up to consolidate and close that game out and they ultimately failed.

that Turkish ref is always involved in big games with an English team something fishy about him always dubious decisions.

People say that about our own officials when they ref a match...

Interesting to hear Graham Poll suggest UEFA refs have been told in the past such tackles should be deemed as red card whereas here they wouldn't.

Thats italians for you though, much more tactically aware.

Modric was superb when he came on

Been overlooked that, he was absoutely magnificent, best 30 mins I've seen him probably ever had. Paid a big chunk of that price tag back finally.

Yeah that's a good point.

I know its Alex Ferguson and he is the greatest manager this Country has seen, hurts me to say that. The thing with Ferguson is though he seems to be unquestionable and United fans wouldn't dream of doing so. He was tactically naive last night, yeah he got it all spot on until the red card with Welbeck on Alonso etc, but where was the back up plan? Surely for games of that magnitude you prepare for situations like that?

For me Nani shouldn't have even started that game last night, yeah he put the ball in for the own goal but Valencia would have offered more, defensively especially. Seriously when Nani got sent off what formation were United playing? I don't think United players even knew what the plan was, especially when Modric came on.

The 2 goals Madrid scored whilst well taken by Modric in particular weren't exactly great bits of defending either...stood off the man shooting or crossing both times.

Uefa has begun disciplinary proceedings against Manchester United following their Champions League defeat by Real Madrid on Tuesday.

European football's governing body is taking action over Nani's red card and the non-fulfilment of post-match media obligations at Old Trafford.

Pathetic.

Yet they don't have a problem with the officiating last night?

The officials need to do post match interview, see how many non-fulfilments happen then!

Why exactly? He made a borderline call that, in this instance, was probably wrong. Should, really, go down as a mistake.

Do we make players who've scored own goals or gotten themselves sent off recklessly stand in front of TV cameras for public humiliation?

Don't be such a sulking little moron all your life and, just every now and then, engage your brain when one of your many pointless grudges compels you to say something idiotic.

I don't mean for this one incident I mean in general, the fans, players, anyone involved with the game deserve answers.

Also why see it one sided? Why do you think I want to see this for 'public humiliation' towards referee's?! (Bearing in mind my rants about people blaming referee when Leicester lose...)

It could do referee's a favour,

- Explain their reasoning

- Explain how they saw it

- Accept their point of view maybe (Abit of give and take - I don't agree with some thing Pearson/A manager of another club/A player says and does, he explains it on the odd occasion I think, yeah fair enough)

- Get their reaction to admiting they were wrong every now and again and appoligising (Not that that really means much if they have ruined a game, but hey ho, atleast they've admitted and took some responsibilty)

Cameras and Microphones are shoved infront of Managers and Players face almost instantly after key and controversial incidents (and clearly cannot refuse), but the referees have the right to remain silent and not answer questions?
