ealingfox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 My mum speaks German so I'm going to claim some of the credit... On a serious note, can Dortmund really be in that good a shape financially? This is the 3rd or 4th year in a row they've sold off their prize assets. Balancing the books?

If they win the CL this year that may start changing.

Further research tells me they went bankrupt twice, in 2003 and 2005, only surviving due to a 2 million euro loan given to them by..... Bayern Munich! Now I see why they couldn't have said no to them re: Gotze and Lewandowski....
Floating Fox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Makes me laugh that people think Dortmund are already there. Madrid could easily win 3-0 at home... On another note, very happy to see the Bundesliga getting good press again. Can't wait to get out there in the summer for some more games!

They HAVE said no to Lewa. As it stands he's staying next year, the Bayern rumour was released by Jupp's agent, most likely to be disruptive, and has been rubbished since as Lewa doesn't have a release clause.
Darkon84 Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Seen a few people say the Big Rob deal to Bayern is done. Can anyone post the article etc?

Thank **** for that. I'd seen no confirmation or anything about him going to Bayern other than rumours, and some people just take it as absolute gospel

Jupp Heynckes' agent? Why's he getting involved?

On another note, very happy to see the Bundesliga getting good press again. Can't wait to get out there in the summer for some more games! Real can't keep a clean sheet for toffee and Dortmund are very sharp going forward. Their pressing game and energy also make them a hard side to break down, I'd be surprised if they got battered, even in Madrid.
Finnegan Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Jupp Heynckes' agent? Why's he getting involved? As I said, to be disruptive most likely. Mind games. He was quoted as calling it a done deal, said something like if a club won't let us talk to a player we just meet the buyout as we did with Gotze. Went on to imply they were doing it with Lewa too. But BVB, an hour or so after the game last night, said Lewa has no release clause, is under contract to 2014 and that they'll willingly waive a transfer fee to have him next year.
HEGGSY Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Lets all buy a BVB shirt for the final.... Should they get there
HEGGSY Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Let's not. Now then mardy bum I've got mine from a few years ago anyways.
21st Century Fox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 I used to have a sweet BVB pencil case that I used to alternate with my City one when I was at school. Neither went down too well down here.
ealingfox Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Them winning the CL in '97 with a centre-mid pairing of Paul Lambert and Paolo Sousa is one of my favourite football facts.
Finnegan Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 yep. I went nuts for Dortmund back then, almost entirely because they played in fluorescent yellow. I've had a big soft spot ever since. It became a full on love affair when they had Koller and Rosicky on the books. As a Wales fan you have to adopt a team to support at major tournaments and I've big love for the Czechs. Proper Euro plastic, me.
StanSP Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 And Nedved! Smicer and Poborsky too. They used to have much more talent than these days. I remember playing with one of those soft footballs in the hallway at home when I was a little kid. It was a BvB one . I've been a fan since childhood
Jaspa Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 Real vs Dortmund, Howard Webb's in charge As much as I'd like to see it, I dont see Real overturning it; as much as I'd like to see it done. I think the real comeback will be on Mayday, Barca havent got Biscuits or Mascherano, but they have got Sergi Roberto in the squad. I dont doubt this competition not to throw up a suprise
Guest MattP Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 One of the two games will get tight, convinced of that. Tonight's looks the far more likely.
AKCJ Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 Madrid could already have put themselves ahead on aggregate. Dortmund are all over the shop.
StanSP Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 Dortmund fairly fortunate it's only 0-0 so far. A lot of challenges going in on Lewandowski. Nasty elbow in to the back of the head from Ramos on him. Such a dirty player.
MooseBreath Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 Could do with a Real Madrid goal before HT to liven this up for the 2nd half
MC Prussian Posted 30 April 2013 Author Posted 30 April 2013 I could do with Real Madrid going bust (and Barcelona with them).
