I'm not sure what you heard, but there definitely wasn't an 'american accent' at all. They sounded just like they usually do, unless you were expecting the sound of their first album which played heavily on Sheffield dialect.....

Well there was.

Arctic Monkeys were just weird, their performance was weird and the point of them being there was weird, it just didn't fit.

Bit of a strange choice having them if you ak me, with muse doing the official song I thought they would of had a part

I'm glad they didn't..

No, there wasn't. It was sung in a higher pitch and there was an echo effect on the mic which was strange but they weren't doing an american accent.

Who's that devilishly handsome chap (shirt, braces and trousers, no jacket/waistcoat) behind the Brunels for the poppy moment? He looks intelligent, erudite, and an overall good egg. What? That's 'Kokopops? Interesting, very interesting...

Looks a bit gay to me.

Seeing as I've been following them since their early gigs where they gave out promo CD's, and with 120+ songs in my iTunes, I know that it definitely wasn't an intended 'american accent'. They've changed their 'sound' since the first album, granted, but it still isn't an 'american accent'. The performance last night was definitely reminiscent of their latest sound on the Suck it and See album and R U Mine? EP's. I do agree that something sounded strange, but I still wouldn't say they were putting on accents.

I have also followed them since then, i'm as big a fan as anyone. They sounded American.

Anyway, you don't need to be a fan to know what an American accent is.

Looks like Graham Swann to me.

They've turned you into an Xbox game? Awesome!

Imagine what a big deal they'd have made out of us editing out a 9/11 memorial lol

But yeah, fantastic show. I was fearing the worst from the previews we'd had but thankfully those fears were quickly turned into good old fashioned British pride.

I'm also a huge fan and have most of (if not all) of their songs on iTunes and they did not sound normal. Defo sounded like they had American accents on.

Further to previous comments the BMW they used was annoying (they were quite happy to use music was outdated, such as Hey Dirge, with performers who sounded like they were at death's door), but not as annoying as people who referred to Rowan Atkinson's performance as Mr Bean.

Really? Was it? It must be, because Rowan Atkinson can only do one character! Idiots! It clearly wasn't Mr Bean, but much more like the characters he frequently portrayed in Not The Nine O'clock News.

Well, why shouldn't people refer to it as Mr Bean - the only two Atkinson characters that everyone will know are Bean and Blackadder, and the character he played was fairly similar to the Mr Bean character.

Would you complain about people referring to the Queens' bit about being the Queen and Bond? After all, Daniel Craig can do more than one character as well.

It seemed like a character Mr Bean was based upon. I guess he does something like it in his stage act if he does live shows. It was just one of many that he can do. The first Blackadder was My Beanish but developed from a wimp to the bastard we all came to love.

No, but he was portraying James Bond and acting like James Bond.

If I were Mr Atkinson I'd be disappointed that I had been so stereotyped that people thought I was being Mr Bean. He only has himself to blame I guess.

Note: Mr Bean never has a serious face on - he's always a simpering, gurning idiot.

Well that's simply not true. The whole pulling a disgruntled bored face whilst doing a menial task is very Mr Bean. And the sneezing into his hand and nearly messing the whole thing up, and having to find a way out of it was very Bean like too. Also getting distracted an ruining things is also a Bean trait.

I'm not familiar with his Not the 9 o'clock new character, but clearly you've not watched much Bean.
