ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 So these two weeks have just further proven that we're the best country in the world by absolute miles.
kingfox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 The montage at the end, are brilliant have always loved them. Great pictures and moments, topped off with Emeli Sande such a talented artist. Brilliant, great olympic games, great moments.
ousefox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 This put no doubt in my mind that the Olympics is the greatest sporting event Not as good as the World Cup for me
Leicesterpool Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 what moment brought a tear to your eye in the event?
ADK Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Not as good as the World Cup for me The last world cup was pretty crap.
I am Rod Hull Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Not as good as the World Cup for me You must be fvcking joking.......
ousefox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 You must be fvcking joking....... I don't really get it to be honest. Nobody watches most of the sports at any other time apart from the Olympics. I mean i enjoy the it but for me as a football fan, i know what i'd rather be in Brazil for the football than the Olympics.
Haydos Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Not as good as the World Cup for me Topped it for me. Incredible atmosphere, organisation, unity, enthusiasm, support, crowds, passion, tension. And all of this almost non stop for two weeks. I love football but this Olympics was amazing and had so much more to it than the World Cup.

But as a general competition, the World Cup is usually better for me.
kingfox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 what moment brought a tear to your eye in the event? You talking about Jessica Ennis. Absolutely hilarious your comments.
acooling08 Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Really really really going to miss the Olympics
Raw Dykes Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 what moment brought a tear to your eye in the event? Jap's eye? Give it a rest.
21st Century Fox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Thought the closing ceremony was pretty decent on a whole, particularly loved The Who, thought they pulled it off better than they did at the Superbowl. Hopefully this now means we can fully reclaim our flag back from the far-right ******.

Tielemans63 Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 This put no doubt in my mind that the Olympics is the greatest sporting event I'd agree with that. Far more drama, tension and competition than your average World Cup. mmmmmmmmmmmm BNP.... Yep, it's even part of their logo I think!

Can't help thinking the pride and brilliance of the Scottish competitors such as Chris Hoy and Andy Murray has made the SNP look a bit silly too.

BlueSi13 Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Rather poor closing ceremony i thought...a bit of a mess and some of the music choices were baffling but anything with John Lennon's "Imagine" and The Who simply can't be that bad! Overall for me though its been an absolutely incredible two weeks, had the fortune of attending for one of the days and it easily one of the greatest things i've ever and will be a part off. I will genuinely miss it. It has been especially been nice to see those who felt these games would be a "disaster", "embarrassment", "cock-up" or "failure" eat humble pie. Its about time we started showing more pride and belief in ourselves and STOP listening to those who bleat on and on about how we are "finished", its complete bollocks. Once again we proved as a nation that we are still at the very top in terms of passion, dedication, tolerance, friendliness, hard work, inventiveness, and humility. Proud to be British. Good luck to Rio De Janeiro. Though i hope they have something more to offer than samba and football.
BlueSi13 Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Can't help thinking the pride and brilliance of the Scottish competitors such as Chris Hoy and Andy Murray has made the SNP look a bit silly too. No doubt. But no doubt they'll be looking forward to hosting the Ryder Cup and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 where no doubt they'll attempt to drive the "them and us", "Scotland Vs Westminster (codename for England)" rhetoric just in time for the referendum. They know that the Olympics and the Jubilee will be far from peoples minds in a couple of years. Especially if the economy fails to pick up.
purpleronnie Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Can't help thinking the pride and brilliance of the Scottish competitors such as Chris Hoy and Andy Murray has made the SNP look a bit silly too. Nah, its not like they would expect athletes to not try because they are under the GB banner.
Fox92 Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 I seriously got chills when Lennon's voice took over last night, wish he was still alive.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 I watched nearly the whole blooming thing, as I felt obliged to having missed the opening ceremony as I was fitting a roof box to my Astra. How did it compare? I didn't especially enjoy fitting the roof box, but considered it a job well done when it was finished. I enjoyed seeing Jessie J frolicking about; apparently high definition viewers could tell she wasn't actually naked. It's times like that I wish I had a colour television set! I was disappointed that they didn't let the Spice Girls do any of their still cherished solo material, and was intrigued as to why 2005's hot property The Kaiser Chiefs were allowed in. I've similarly no idea why the Housemartins bass player was playing records on top of a giant pulsating octopus, but if that encapsulates the true ideals of the Olympics then it's all fine by me. Also superb to hear that Beady Eye classic again!* Delighted to see that Coldplay couldn't make it. When you're aiming to hold everyone's attention, it's always a good idea to let someone like George Michael play one of his new songs. I just thought it was a shame that in the spirit of the occasion they didn't see fit to have Morrissey along *not my 'joke', but Graham Linehan's
Guest Bilo Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Nah, its not like they would expect athletes to not try because they are under the GB banner. The sight of Scotland's most famous athletes draped in the Union Jack and proudly singing God Save the Queen when they received their medals must have made Alex Salmond squirm though.
